I went through this place and they weren't serving ice cream outside at the counter on an 80 degree day. Asked me to go through the drive-thru... so I tried to go through on foot. They told me I must go through with my car, so I left. Had come to buy ice cream and eat it outside. The business wasn't looking to help me. I think you should sell this place and offer the spot to someone who's looking to do business. If you're not looking to sell me ice cream outside of my car on an 80 degree day then I think it's probably time for you guys to pick it up and go. Who knew the DQ has had such a bad rep?! I just finished reading the reviews on this place, and was shocked! I went through the drive thru the other day, was greeted by a patient, kind employee and was quickly served exactly what I ordered. I have no qualms with this DQ. read more

We stopped for a quick ice cream break around noon today. Their open sign is off but after checking times, we knew they've been open for an hour. No one was watching the front. We saw them sitting in the back, we knocked politely on the window at least 4 times. We were greeted 5ish minutes later with an incredibly rude employee. After handing us our ice cream we got an impolite comment "Also, don't sit on the table top, sit on the seat. Thank you." (Because our 5 year old was sitting on them) I just feel like if you're not going to pay attention to the front of the DQ, have customers wait for 5 minutes, you should at least acknowledge your mistake. And be polite if we're doing something we shouldn't. read more

Batavia Dairy Queen makes delicious Blizzards. They are open all seasons and a popular spot for locals and visitors from out of town. And the Dilly Bars and hand made locally, not in a factory. They are the best. read more

Under staffed, the staff that was there was doing an excellent job, so it's no reflection on them. Overpriced and under stocked compared to Wasco and St.Charles. Very basic, I will choose the DQ in St. Charles , Wasco or Oregon. Alice's place in Elburn is better, over for selection. read more

I don't know why this place gets such a bad rep? It isn't bad at all! It is by far the friendliest and cleanest Dairy Queen I have ever been to. Yes, sometimes you have to wait a while, but that is only because they are always so busy and there are only so many workers they can fit in the small building to make your ice cream. If it wasn't so busy, then you wouldn't have to wait. But clearly they get a lot of happy customers because THEY ARE ALWAYS BUSY! The managers are also not rude like one review said. If they mess us, they will gladly fix it for you, no questions asked. Please keep in mind this is a new location so they may still be learning how things work. And because it is just down the street from the high school, a majority of the employees are still students, so again, please be patient. All in all, no one should be cranky going here. Helpful tip: If you are in the Batavia, IL area, want ice cream, but are over 30 (or look it), DO NOT bother with the walk up window at the Dairy Queen on Wilson. They will not wait on you, take an order, or even speak to you. They'd much rather serve their fellow teeny-boppers, and they can't be bothered to answer the phone, either. The place was much nicer before it reverted to being a DQ franchise again, and the only way I would ever go back is if it becomes something else in the future. read more

Sorry to say, but this location has lost two customers for good. We've given this place multiple chances, but between the extreme wait times (even when you're the only person in line...walk up and drive thru) and the unprofessional employees, we're done. It's a shame. A lot of works needs to be done here, otherwise I'm sure we're not the last. read more

This location has extremely slow service and the last two times I was there, they did not have whipped cream. You're an ICE CREAM AND DESSERTS specialty store, you MUST have whipped cream. That is an essential ingredient to many of the items you sell people (at outrageous markups, by the way). I am betting the food cost for each item must be under 70 cents, and a small blizzard is at least $4.17. Great margins, and I'll pay it, but YOU CAN'T TELL ME YOU DON'T HAVE WHIPPED CREAM AFTER I DROVE OUT SPECIFICALLY TO YOUR STORE. So FRUSTRATING! Get it together! read more

The kids working there actually made fun of me- I heard it through the glass. Then they had the nerve to argue with me when my order was made wrong. The staff's attitude was that they could do anything and wouldn't get caught. They lied and said my online complaint would get to the owner through the website, which it wouldn't. I see that previous customers have shared my frustration. Ordered at the drive thru. A shake, a pb parfait and a box of DILLY BARS. I said everything twice. Got to the window and they told me a total that sounded high, but I didn't want to haggle. I gave the kid a twenty and one penny to make the change an even .75. He dropped the penny, said nothing about it and gave me 74 cents back. I took the sealed bag, which I assumed contained the box of DILLY BARS. Got home and discovered that they were peanut buster bars. As one previous person said. Its ice cream, how can you screw up ice cream? These kids don't care. We have been to this location several times. The majority of time you have to repeat your order two to three times at the drive up because the worker cannot get it correct the first time you place the order. Once you finally make it up to the window you find your order (ice cream cones) sitting on a shelf melting! The three girls I witnessed several times, are inside busy doing anything but working! There in their laughing, chatting with each other and are easily distracted from the task they are being paid to do. It seems that the management hires anyone with a pulse and has no oversight on the premises. If you enjoy melted ice cream and a long wait, then by all means, go to this Dairy Queen. First of all, to correct a comment from another reviewer, as the former owner of the Batavia Dairy Queen and Moo LaLa (and I don't believe that when we made the change to Moo LaLa were a knock off, but a step up), none of the other people that have written these reviews ever worked for me. Second, it seems there are two common themes being addressed by most of the reviewers, they are poor service, and poor product quality. It breaks my heart to see the business I, my family, and my employees spent 20 years running, deteriorate to what it is today. There is no excuse for this. It is a direct result of poor management. I took great pride in the fact that my employees were well trained, extremely courteous, and still very professional. For most of the employees I hired, I was their first employer. As such, one of the first lessons I told every employee was that most customers would come to us for one of two reasons. Either they were having a good day and wanted a treat as a reward, or they were having a bad day and wanted a treat to make it better. In either case, my employees needed to make sure every customer left having experienced MORE than they were expecting. I would remind them that if I did not have customers, I did not need employees, so they needed to take good care of my customers. The people of Batavia deserve better. Its a new season, a chance to make a new impression. Are you up to it? If not, and until you are, I would recommend Batavia Creamery. read more
