My wife, two daughters, oldest son, and I visited the Paintsville KY., Dairy Queen, (606) 789-5400, 906 Broadway St., Paintsville, KY 41240 on 2024-10-23. My two brothers with their two families also went to Paintsville but did not visit the Dairy Queen. I usually order footlong coneys when we go down because they are the best ones in both Ohio, Kentucky, and elsewhere. I only ordered one small coney because my youngest brother said he had been there a few weeks earlier and they had changed the recipe for the coney sauce. After patronizing this particular Dairy Queen for most of our lives, we now find that they have went the way of other establishments by ruining a good thing. What a disappointment; not only was the small coney awful but it cost $4.30. I am glad I didn't order 5 complete footlong meals with fries and drink. We then went to Arby's but it wasn't our first choice. If you have heard me brag up the Dairy Queen's food, I am now rescinding that suggestion. The coney sauce had a barbeque flavor and was redder than normal. Who puts barbeque sauce in coney sauce? We lived in Paintsville from 1952 -1967 and then moved to Ohio. Many of my friends and family now live in Ohio and elsewhere but still visit our childhood homes frequently. I still have a lot of family and friends who still live in Kentucky in both Salyersville and Paintsville. Spread the word and just maybe these hotdog destroyers will reverse this bad decision. I am going to post this on the review sites just for good measure. Another ICON bites the dust. Sorry everyone.

I'm not from Paintsville so I don't get it. Foods not great and I always feel like I'm in the way when I'm trying to order food from there.

I walked in with my sexy fiancée and we experienced the nicest staff.. We were in a bit of a rush…read moredue to a prior appointment, but they recommended wonderful items to enjoy. Bottom line; the staff treated us as we were very important, the food was made to order quickly, the food was delicious, and the price was very reasonable as well. I give this 5 stars and recommend to try!

The best thing about this place was the service it was fast, super friendly people. While the environment is laid back and welcoming, the Dairy Cheer is a hard place to review. As it has been a staple of food service in Prestonsburg for as long as the majority of the population remembers. While it does definitely have its good parts, but does have some consistency issues. Their onion rings are especially amazing!! My wife and I both had the Smash Burger and what was in the past the signature burger of Dairy Cheer with the Onion Rings. The burger was good. However the meat to bun ratio was a little too much for my liking and a little overcooked. The real issue we both had was the charred flavor on the onion rings and the overt amount of excess grease. Both these indicate that the oil in the fryer needs filtered and/or changed. Normally this wouldn't be too much of an issue but given previous meals we have had here with the best onion rings in the state it is almost a heresy for them to be done this way. It is a good place but small things like this from a place that once had such a high standard is disappointing.

Just about a stones throw from the West Virginia border in Louisa, KY is this hidden little gem…read morewith all kinds of yummy goodness and friendly, helpful staff. My husband had Dee's Double Bacon Cheeseburger with a side of Onion Rings and Potato Salad. As I wasn't very hungry, I ordered a plain burger with tomato only and a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. If I'd ordered 2 burgers, I would have eaten them both. They as well as my mashed potatoes were flavorful and positively delicious. At one point I looked up and saw that my hubby's cheeseburger had vanished into thin air, yes indeed he was a very happy camper with his meal as well. We missed the opportunity to try their raved about milkshakes but fully intend to rectify that on our return trip! The front desk clerk at our hotel who had told us about Dee's said it has been around as long as he can remember, it was a popular hangout back when his Grandma was in high school. (Thanks Cody) We'll be back Dee!

Walk in and place your order at the counter while viewing the large menu behind the counter. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and ice cream all served here. Ordered the Dee Burger as recommended by the friendly server who took our order. It's a double cheeseburger with a middle bun, coleslaw on one part and tartar sauce on the other part. Fantastic flavors! Also ordered a side of onion rings. These are the best onion rings I've had in a long time! This restaurant appears to be the hub of activity for the locals. Why only four stars? Their restrooms are located downstairs by way of external stairs out back leading to two very small separate stalls. One of which has a sink but no soap or paper towels. We were informed they are in the process of updating these restrooms. Hope to find a better situation on my next visit.
