I love coming here. It's how I know summer in NH had finally arrived. Can get food, delicious blizzards, and orange Julius. Perfect.

They proceeded to shrug and say it didn't go through because they didn't have a ticket on their end. I then pulled up my bank account and showed them the payment for the order. To which they continued to tell me that despite my order confirmation AND payment - that it didn't go through because they had no ticket for me on their end. They offered no solution - not even a suggestion to place a new order (to which I wouldn't anyway because they already had the money for the previous order). I then asked for his name (no name tag) and phone number of the franchise owner - to which he told me he did not have any phone number, and I would have to go "look it up" myself. This gentleman claimed to be the store manager. He had zero customer service skills. When I got to my car, I called the corporate office and not only could they see my order AND my payment - they were incredibly helpful in ensuring I get my money back. Corporate gets 5 stars... but this location will never see my business again.

I had the carne asada with "two rib eye steaks". Also got a house margarita, only 7.99 was a real bargain, even though it was premixed. It didn't have that sour mix aftertaste that most house margs do. I couldn't request a doneness, because "they are really thin". The 2 steaks were about 1/8 of an inch thick and almost tough enough to repair a shoe. The beans were mostly liquid, there was a very small portion of rice and a surprisingly generous amount of guacamole on the chopped salad greens, 3 warm tortillas. I wrapped the steaks in the tortillas with the guac and greens, and asked for some hot sauce. It was in a ramekin, nothing to write home about. At the end of the night, I got my bill, the first total showed 30.44, the credit card slip showed 32.69. I asked why the discrepancy, she said the first bill didn't reflect the hot sauce, "it's homemade". I have eaten in a LOT of Mexican restaurants, never got an upcharge for hot sauce. Won't be rushing back, had hoped for an upgrade from the previous restaurant there, wishful thinking I guess.

Maaz's Chicken serves up fried chicken, sandwiches, gyros, burgers, rice platters, fried seafood, appetizers, salads, desserts, and cooler drinks (Pepsi products/Gatorade). The prices here seem reasonable. I stopped by Maaz's Chicken for lunch and dinner on Grand Opening Day when they were giving out free lunch (selected items) and 50 percent off the menu all day. The place was very busy with a line out the door. The owner had a DJ playing music near the entrance and chatting with customers. The owner is from Rhode Island and actually works across the border in Mass. The owner was looking for a place to open a chicken restaurant and chose Franklin, NH since it's a good area, bypassing Franklin, MA (for now) much closer to Bellingham, MA and Rhode Island. The lunch line was very busy and I eventually got up to the counter and ordered the Chicken Sandwich and 2 pc Fried Chicken with Fries and can of Diet Pepsi and strawberry Hood Ice Cream for dessert, all complementary for lunch. The chicken sandwich was big with a thick breaded buffalo tender with lettuce & mayo, pretty good. The shoestring fries were decent and the fried chicken had a nice crispy salty coating on the outside. I decided I would return later for dinner takeout. I returned for dinner takeout several hours later and the place was getting slammed with the line almost to the door. I ordered a bunch of food including a Beef Gyro ($8.99 plus tax), 6 Mozzarella Sticks ($6.25 plus tax), Chicken Over Rice Platter ($10.99 plus tax) and a 2 Pc Tilapia with Fries & Slaw ($11.99 plus tax). With the Grand Opening Discount, my total with tax was $20.83. After ordering, there was another line of customers waiting to pick up their food after paying. I waited about 16 minutes for my big order to be all set. They did run out of cole slaw and let me substitute Banana Pudding which is normally the same price as cole slaw ($2.99 plus tax). I checked my order before leaving and everything was there. I enjoyed my big dinner back at the office and the portions of food were generous. The Chicken Over Rice Platter was excellent, which had firm seasoned rice topped with marinated hot chicken pieces, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, white sauce. The Beef Gyro was overflowing with beef gyro meat, lettuce, tomato, red onions, and a house dressing in a soft warm thick wrap. The Mozzarella Sticks were standard and came with marinara dipping sauce. The 2 Pc Tilapia with Fries was comprised of 2 good size fried tilapia filets with a seasoned breading and a pile of shoestring fries, tartar sauce was provided too. The Banana Pudding was sweet and topped with Nilla Wafer cookies. Overall, I was able to try a variety of foods here at Maaz's Chicken including the grand opening lunch and discounted dinner food. The fried chicken though crispy outside was very salty and dry, probably due to the volume of customers ordering the same thing. The fries at lunch time were not very hot (staff trying to serve the masses at lunch) and the fries I got with my tilapia dinner were hot and firm. The Chicken Over Rice Platter and Beef Gyro were excellent and my favorites of the day. This rating is based on the dinner takeout (4.5/5.0) and not on the grand opening lunch.

Plymouth State University Commuter Food Week #6: KFC…read more I went into labor the last time I ate KFC! That was nearly 20 years ago when I insisted that my sister ordered mashed potatoes and gravy to satisfy my pregnancy-induced craving. Look how that turned out- the resulting child now attends Quinnipiac University (shout-out to Ethan! Okay, now get back to studying for mid-terms!)! One thing that has been really difficult about taking this class at PSU is that I'm not hungry when I leave work at 4:30 for my hour-and-a-half car ride. This week, I decided to forego the Route 4 restaurants and continue my journey north- hoping I'd be a little hungry before I reached the mountains. By the time I got to Tilton, I thought I could use a snack. The golden arches called to me from the Exit 20 off-ramp. But what did I see in the distance? A KFC! I hadn't eaten KFC in ages, so I figured I'd give it a try. For less than $5, and less than 5 MINUTES from off-ramp to on-ramp, I got a tasty 3 piece boneless chicken finger thingy with mashed potatoes and gravy- the same mashed potatoes and gravy that fueled my journey into labor and childbirth! It was just as satisfying as it was the first time I ate KFC, without the drama of having a baby.

I've always like this restaurant, the military discount, and I want them to succeed since they serve the community well. However, I have some concerns. The food has gone down hill lately on our last 3 visits. Example, tonight they had a hamburger loaf special with a picture of gravy and mushrooms with onions. Looked great for ~$15. Oh, but the mushrooms and onions were $3.00 more making the picture false advertising. The broccoli was excellent but no other low carb sides, so another ~$3 for broccoli casserole which was tiny and dried out. The salad had no healthy greens only white lettuce and a couple of other ingredients, no carrots, for ~$6. Ice tea and a coke were ~$3.25 each. Wow, they get you coming and going for average food. My suggestion is to upgrade your salad with greens, easy peazy. Then make your specials with NO additional cost "got ya." You need one or two additional sides with low carbs, like grilled mushrooms, peas, green beans, or even tiny potatoes with skins on. Ease off on the drink costs - charge $2.49 or OK $2.99 if you must. You make a lot of money at the bar and no problem with that.
