I haven't had Dairy Queen in ages and was excited to stop here during our roadtrip. However, the entire experience was subpar. First, the Dairy Queen is just a small booth inside a gas station convenience store. There wasn't enough room to even form a proper line or wait for your order to be called. It was crowded and congested. Our food ended up taking 20 minutes (we only ordered a four piece chicken tenders with one Oreo Blizzard). My husband had the Subway next door -- he was able to order his food and eat his entire meal before our food was even ready for pick up. The food was really good -- I will give them credit for that. I stop here every time i go to Las Vegas, since i drive a Tesla and the charging station is locate in the parking lot. This Monday was about 115 and we felt like a cold treat. selected and ordered a large blizzard. and the total seemed high and mentioned and the comment was the tax. got 20 miles down the road and noticed a $1.87 tip. not that that's a big amount its the principle of the thing. counter person, a young lady was anything but pleasant. she was impatient and yes we were slow in our order but still. The restaurant is small, no waiting area and very tighy uncomfortable quarters We returns the next day going back to California and drove through town, to Jack in the Box. got two large shakes, with tax for less thank DQ charged for the Blizzard. First run was horrible. I called several days before I needed the cake for a birthday. I . Specialty ordered a certain cake Talked with the kid about what I wanted written on the cake. He said all good no problems. Hubs picked up the cake. Was an Oreo cake not the one I ordered and the name was spelled incorrectly I returned to the store , explained what had happened and the fella working ( also overwhelmed as he was the only staff working) offered to fix it. Provided me with a new cake free of charge. It's rare for companies to make it right. But needles ca DQ was excellent. I would go back here. I haven't had Dairy Queen in so long and I don't even know if I've ever had a blizzard. Well, now I know that this place is delicious. I got the chicken tenders, garlic toast and fries combo. I chose the queso dip for the chicken tenders. The chicken tenders were delicious and surprisingly moist. The queso dip was so good and they actually give a good amount. They serve the queso dip warm, so it's nice and gooey. Garlic toast was nice and garlic buttery. The fries were made well and was light and crispy. I got a New York cheesecake blizzard with strawberries and oh my goodness was it good. There were chunks of cheesecake and strawberries throughout. The blizzard was sweet as expected, but it the spot. Maybe it's because the weather was 110 degrees Fahrenheit outside that I found it comforting. read more

I remember going to DQ as a kid but I don't ever recall their banana splits being worthy of a Yelp review. However, let me tell you, hubby and I LOVE these little dessert bowls of yummy sweet goodness and we can't stop talking about it. There's something about the three little perfect swirls of soft serve ice cream topped with pineapple, hot fudge and strawberry and whip cream, sandwiched between perfectly ripened bananas that we drool over every time we are at the river. This has been an evening staple for us when we are in the area and will return multiple times during the same trip. Selection is typical of a normal DQ, they have ice cream cakes, and other frozen treats in the freezer case that you can purchase. You can also place special order cakes (which seems a little weird because they are located at a gas station). There's sometimes a short wait since it's fairly small so there is limited staff, but we like that they are open late and that there's indoor seating available at Subway. Outside of this dq is a huge banner with a picture of some of the food items. My wife saw the breaded chicken salad in the picture and that is why we went there instead of Subway. The girl at the counter said they don't serve salads, that I need to go to subway for that. I pointed to the 10 X 12 banner right outside and she says "that's for subway." I responded "it has a giant DQ logo on it." They acted like I'm some kind of idiot and told me to go to subway (who does not have breaded chicken) I'm attaching the picture of the banner to show that I haven't lost my mind and that they were just clueless and rude. read more

Took forever. While I stood at the counter, ordered and waited for my food, my girlfriend walked over to Subway, waited in line, ordered, paid, and walked back to wait another five minutes with me for my food. When my order came up, the clerk yelled "Number 44? Number 44? NUMBER 44!?" in increasingly sneering and contemptuous tones at the stupid customer couldn't even remember their own order number until he gave up and yelled out the order contents. At which point I said, "You mean forty-THREE?" At which point he said, "Oh maybe. Yeah. Whatever." Their reduced item menu doesn't include their signature food items, such as burgers, and they're smug about proactively explaining how they have a small kitchen and can't make everything. (But you're dropping burgers, of all things? Really?) The clever electronic menu switches so rapidly between being a menu and being a set of advertisements for whatever movie tie-in crap they're currently flogging that it's hard to make a food selection. (Seriously, can I look at the menu for more than eight seconds at a time?) Oh, and if you order something that's incredibly sloppy -- a pulled-pork sandwich that turns out to have WAY more BBQ sauce than any other pulled-pork sandwich than you've ever had before, say -- one which that staff has apparently poured sauce directly over the bun of -- and that you're definitely going to eat while you're driving, because you're buying food from a Dairy Queen in a gas station without any seating, don't expect that they're going to think to put napkins in your bag. That would be good service, but it would also cut a quarter-cent or so into their profits. So you'd best remember to get your own napkins. Because you're from out of town, so fuck you, we don't have to care about the quality of your order or your experience. Despite all of this, it's one of the more expensive DQs I've been to, probably because there are few other options around at this particular freeway stop, so expect to get gouged. read more

I went to the Dairy Queen in Needles, CA both on 2/3/2017 and 2/5/2017. I had never been there before. Both times it was because it is next to the Tesla Supercharger in Needles. Another customer came up while I was standing there to bring back chicken fingers that were seriously under cooked (almost looked raw!). She also had under cooked and soggy fries. During a road trip a couple of weeks ago, we stopped by and patronized this Dairy Queen for a quick break and snack before continuing out trip. We got what we ordered, or not. One of our favorites from DQ was a banana split ($4.99). We also had a shake, and a Blizzard. Everything was okay except for the banana split. The banana split looked like a deflated mess of whip cream with only a smidgeon of ice cream underneath (as detected when we dug the spoon in the whip cream), sitting in a pool of liquid (water, milk, melted ice cream? Yuk). Evidently, we were not happy with this concoction they called their banana split. It did not even look like their picture of a banana split. Certainly, this was justification to go to the cashier to complain. However, since it was busy, we opted to leave and dispose of their banana split concoction. Despite this incident, I should be rating them with one or zero stars. Rather than going up to make a scene regarding our dissatisfaction, we left and made note of the incident. This DQ had predominantly young people working for them, and may not be very experienced in handling and juggling a number of issues when it is busy. As a former restaurateur, I understand that some managers (particularly if they are young) may also not be aware of problems until customers bring it up. I have nothing against young people because we were all young once. I just believe that mistakes do happen more among young and inexperienced workers. (Wisdom will develop as maturity and experience develops.) Given this, managers should monitor workers more frequently and closely, and conduct more periodic evaluations. Among most unsatisfied customers, the majority of the general public will not bring up issues of dissatisfaction; they just do not come back and some will write a negative review. Based upon our personal experience, (since I do no reside in the area,) I decided to contact the DQ corporation after our trip and described our complaint. The company listened to our complaint and made the matter even worst by issuing us a $3.00 gift card for a bad $4.99 banana split. Does this sound like an insult to you? It's like giving a server a penny tip. $3.00 doesn't even cover the cost of gas to go to DQ. Very, very petty and insulting. I feel sorry for the franchisees that is represented by the DQ corporation. What the DQ corporation should have done is take care of the dissatisfied customer "satisfactorily", and then relay this to the franchisee. I followed up with another contact to the DQ corporation regarding this insulting gesture of their $3.00 gift card to cover a bad $4.99 purchase and they contacted me back and said that it's the franchisee responsibility to make good with the customer. (passing the buck) Evidently, the DQ corporation did not want to deal with dissatisfied customers, and pushing it back to the franchisee. They told me that they will forward my complaint to the franchisee who is 700 miles away. The DQ corporation should be ashamed to represent their franchisees is this manner. Subsequently, I received a personal phone call from the "manager" of this Needles, CA DQ restaurant. Her name is Vanessa Wilsong. Vanessa was very sincere (and apologetic), and appalled to discover how DQ handled this matter from the DQ corporate level. She read the transcript and transmittal where DQ offered me a $3 gift card to compensate for a bad $4.99 purchase. (And these are people who work at the corporate level who deals with consumers.) Overall, this was not Vanessa's fault. DQ corporation made her look bad by insulting one of her customers (me). In fact, Vanessa has become the victim of her franchisor (DQ corporate) who is suppose to look out for her best interest. Overall, I have detected that Vanessa's ambition, as manager, was to take care of her customers. She gratefully offered us a $15 gift card for the trouble we went through. In my eyes, Vanessa is young, but she has demonstrated to me as a rising star in the management arena, for she has the compassion to make a business successful and understands that the foundation of her business' success, no matter if that customer lives in town, or a traveler. I am rating this location with five stars because I know where Vanessa's heart is at to help her DQ succeed. Sadly, the company did her a disfavor. I am confident, over time, Vanessa will be in the corporate arena to train those current "less-than-competent" people up there that success is developed by satisfying and delivering customers with one high quality banana split at a time. There is no substitution (or excuses) for great customer satisfaction. Go Vanessa Wilsong! You are doing a great job! read more

I went about 8 pm 10/9/21 and it was clean about 10 people standing around waiting for their food 2 guys working a Yung black guy who was helpful kind took my order and accidentally forgot one of the things I ordered the other person was a old white man was cooking and told the other guy to help him cook them I noticed I didn't have everything I ordered on the receipt so I waited for about 5 minutes then most of the customers left the old man came and took another order as I tried to tell him before and after he took the someone's order I didn't get everything he looked at me stuck his nose up and walked off went in back told the Yung guy get that guy out of here another 5 minutes and the old man came up and said here's your order I said now can I get the rest of my order he said that's all it there with a bad attitude so I said no it's not I told you when you stuck up your nose at me the whole order wasn't there he got mad and storm off the Yung guy had to redo my order and wait another 14 mints to get the rest of my food someone should teach old people who spend their life in fast food it pays to be nice to your customers especially when they make 3 times the money he makes so he no where better than anyone!!! read more

Another one of the Dairy Queens I've been to in the past month that seems to have completely forgotten how to make a Chocolate Extreme Blizzard. They brought me something that looked like a Vanilla Blizzard with a few chunks of chocolate in it. I asked them to remake it, which they did. They weren't happy about it but they weren't nasty either. It was a waste of time, energy, and ingredients. Just make it right the first time. If you are low on chocolate syrup and need to refill, tell the customer that so they will know there will be a bit of a delay but serve the product correctly!! read more

Awful customer service today, I couldn't understand what the dude (certainly not a gentlemen) at the counter was saying he was quiet talked fast and rushed me. they ignored me and my questions when I first walked up, then he canceled my order and I said yes to my sons meal not yes to canceling it. After not getting my meal, he got a BIG attitude offered nothing, didn't apologize, no compensation, what's so ever turned his back on me literally shrugged me off with has hand and walked away, then I called manager he had a big attitude like this is my fault he reluctantly offered to compensate, I said no they would probably spit in my food after the attitude they gave me, he said this convo is done and hung up wow. No wonder this place is so awful apple doesn't fall far from tree. I've never had such awful customer service ever and I worked at dairy queen as a kid never have dealt with nonsense or customer care like this. Terrible DQ. Super busy because they are inside the gas station, even though there were 3 guys working. About 15 minute wait for 3 small Blizzards. We got them and all had ice cream around the cups and spoons. They were already melted! Definitely didn't demonstrate the ice cream upside down in the cup. Spilled on myself before even getting to the car, then my 6 year old son spilled all over his lap in the car. On top of that, the ice cream tasted weird. read more
