I haven't been to a Dairy Queen since I was a kid. We were road tripping so I thought we would take a pitstop here. I'm glad we did! This location was spotless and clean and the staff was really friendly and nice. They had all of my old favorites, including the blizzard and dipped cones plus a new one I tried, which was a brownie sundae with hot fudge all over it. Would rate this location zero stars if I could. The health inspector needs to come in and check the food temps. We ordered a single order of 3 tacos. Waited 20 min because they had to make shells. We got our tacos, had tomato mixed in with the cheese, we asked for no tomato. They were less than half full, and when I picked one up it was cold. I stuck my finger in the meat and it was colder than room temperature. Donna argued with me repeatedly that the food was on the warmer since that morning and it was hot. Not only was it not hot, it was not even warm. I asked for a refund and she told me 3 more times loudly that it was warm. No one help me then I went inside and ordered a singular dip cone. It took them 25 minutes to make a singular dip cone. I would give this location zero stars if that was an option. read more

Consistently horrible service. Always a long wait to order at the drive thru even when no cars in front of me. Have to endure loud obnoxious noise where you order and sometimes unable to hear anything after ordering, no "ok, pull up to the window", etc. One time there was a sweet older woman at the pick up window, though today teen with poor attitude and zero customer service skills. Nice little stop between Fredericksburg and Austin if you're looking for an ice cream treat - Dipped Cone or Blizzard! Fast efficient service and fairly clean restaurant. We ended up having to come here on a Saturday night during COVID since the outdoor spots we wanted to eat at were closed or full. We had 2 cars in line in front of us and it took forever, like at least 15min before we even got to order. Once we pulled up to order we were asked to wait for what turned out to be 6 more minutes. DQ and I go way back. When I was little and on road trips with my family, they would have to divert my attention each time we would pass a billboard for them or else I would demand we stop. Even if we had already done so that day. To say I had a Dairy Queen addiction would be an understatement. I loved their steak fingers basket, their chocolate dipped vanilla cones, and who could leave out their Oreo blizzards? After all these years I'm still madly in love with their soft serve. So when we found ourselves outside of Fredericksburg about a year ago, Ronnie drove through for me so that I could get a plain vanilla cone. Feeling gluttonous I ordered a large having no clue what I was about to be in for. We approached the window to see an ice cream cone the size of the torch the Statue of Liberty holds waiting for us. It was like Christmas and my birthday had combined into the best present ever! I ate every single bite. Ronnie pointed out that if I didn't have diabetes beforehand I probably did after that. No regrets y'all, it was worth it! We've since told the story of my monstrous ice cream cone to friends and loved ones, so there was no way we couldn't stop here again when we were back in the area this past weekend. There's definitely a reason why this Dairy Queen has received such poor reviews -- it needs serious help! The fact that locals came up to my family and hugged us, before saying, "If only you knew how slow the service was," speaks volumes. While traveling to San Antonio on a road trip, my family and I stumbled on this Dairy Queen. The inside was what we might expect from a fast food chain: dirty floors, sticky tables, and random crumbs and hairs along the boys. Thankfully I have tots and an arsenal of diaper wipes to help clean up our area. When we first ordered our food, the place was pretty calm for a Friday evening, but my did the people start rolling in shortly after. Maybe that's why it took 20 minutes to get our food. (At that pace, I thought the employees went out back to personally hunt for our chicken and beef.) Thankfully most of our order was correct, although they forgot a side of fries (wasn't the end of the world). The food was pretty well cooked. The grilled sandwich I had was quite flavorful, and the s'mores blizzard hit the spot. No matter the cleanliness or time it took to get our food, I will say the young associate at the front was hustling. I felt bad that she had to keep apologizing to people for their wait. I definitely romanticize this location. When I was living in Kerrville last summer and needed to go to Austin to look at houses, but my car was in the shop, my mom dropped me off here and my boyfriend picked me up. A few years ago, another Austin guy and myself met here to break things off (SO CLASSY, RIGHT?). My best friend and I used to meet our other best friend here and go adventuring in Austin for the night. I feel like that is a common thing, however, because my 60+ year old professor once told me that he fell in love with a girl that worked here, back in his younger days. However, it has definitely gone to shit. The service isn't friendly at all. It totally ruins the notion that small town folks are supposed to be warm and welcoming. I don't know if there's a way to mess up Dairy Queen food, but they have found the way to do it.
