On our road trip back to Houston from Ole Miss, we stopped in today. As DQs go, this one's at the top of the list of the ones I've been to (and I've been to many). We don't normally eat food at DQ, rather it's the ice cream we stop for. Blizzards. Today we got three of them and they were all chock full of goodies. I don't really want to know the calorie content, but they were delicious. The place was clean, well staffed, clean bathroom (see picture), and they don't let you bring your guns in (see picture). :-) Will return for sure if ever in this part of the country again. read more

I am the leader of a school group that took a group through the Brookhaven, Mississippi area tonight. One of my students stopped at the Brookhaven DQ location and while he ordered a fries and blizzard they took his money for both but only gave him the fries. They claimed he never ordered a blizzard but they were perfectly willing to take the money for both. Two other students witnessed and confirmed what happened. I stopped by a few minutes later to clear up the issue and the lobby was now locked. It was 7 pm and the sign said the lobby closed at 10 pm. We approached the deive up window to speak to the employees. They told me that he never placed the order and they "checked their records." I asked for their names and they refused to give them. They then slammed the door shut and walked away. This place will take your money and not give you what you ordered. read more

REALLY disappointed! I'm one of the former 5-star reviewers and we used to stop here every year or two when passing through while traveling. We only come for Blizzards as I'm not a big fan of DQ food so I can't speak to anything else. Whether it's been Covid or what, there's been an obvious management change here and it's unfortunate. Staff are disengaged. We ordered 4 Blizzards and waited for 15 minutes before we asked to speak to someone. Looks like our blizzards may have been partially made and walked away from, melting on a back counter. They re-did them and seemed to maybe give extra toppings and ice cream to try to make up for our wait, but the ice cream is now melting down the sides. There's no way they could be turned upside down. The ice cream is runny, and the toppings (and the green dye that may be the mint flavoring) are falling out of the top and rim, but not. My Girl Scout thin mint blizzard is like TONS of cookie in a bit of runny vanilla ice cream, either green dye melting down the outside rim, despite the ice cream not being green. I had a few bites but am throwing the rest out. This is not good, I feel like I'm eating cookie cereal. Now I'll go help my kids who are trying to contain melted ice cream still overflowing from their cups. Good thing we didn't order through the drive through... they seem to at least be getting their orders faster but melted ice cream is least desirable in a car. The floor is sticky, our table is dirty and sticky, the dinning room seems a bit smokey. It smells like vents haven't been cleaned. The staff weren't great or terrible, I'm guessing they hate having to deal with this as much as we do. We're just going to toss these (and the half hour and $20 we spent here) and will not come back. There's a smoothie place 2 buildings down, or we'll wait for a different town altogether. I used to rave about this place and send people here when they were on road trips to or from New Orleans. Now I feel like I owe an apology if anyone has come here since 2-3 years ago, which is the last time we came and, like other previews reviews... truly had been a surprisingly great experience. Note that all the good reviews are pre-Covid. I wonder where the old manager went, I'd love to visit any other restaurant they manage now. They're sorely missed. read more

We went in to our local DQ for ice cream on 1-17-19. We noticed exposed insulation blowing on everything. I mentioned to my husband we were breathing it in, his response was we were eating it as it was dropping in our food. A worker had her friend in there and was wiping her runny nose with a napkin, said working threw the snotty napkin away and assisted a customer with a drink without washing her hands. Another worker was coughing all over the register while helping customers. The dumpster outside is overflowing and is gross. I never write reviews for fast food restaurants, because who looks up a review for a place that you can find in any town in America? And you get what you pay for and all that. Til now... This is my second visit to this Dairy Queen, as I passed thru Brookhaven, so it wasn't a fluke. The place is seriously old school. The restaurant can't have been updated in 25 years. And it is SPOTLESS. The cashier takes your order with pen and paper. No computer. You get your drink at the counter and have a seat. Because they cook to order. Your food will be brought to your table and the rest of your meal will be like a full service 5-star restaurant. 5 minutes into eating, a server came by to make sure everything was ok with our food. Halfway through she stopped again to collect trash. Meanwhile another worker walked through the dining area every few minutes to make sure that the tables were shining clean. No ketchup left smeared on tables. No pieces of trash. The floors and bathrooms were equally immaculate. The burgers and onion rings were piping hot on delivery and perfectly cooked. No smushed buns here with burger thrown in. Crazy. We must not be the only people who have noticed this anomaly of a fast food joint. We were in Brookhaven to attend a family funeral and wanted to hit DQ, especially after all the rave reviews on Yelp. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. We went Friday night and ordered chocolate vanilla swirled cones dipped in chocolate and the lady at the drive-through was EXTREMELY RUDE but even though we got chocolate dipped cones that were vanilla we still enjoyed them. So Saturday night rolled around and even though we had trepidation on the same lady being there we though, "Nah, no way" would she be there again, but of course she was. We asked for the same thing, 2 chocolate vanilla swirled cones dipped in chocolate and here was the response.: "We don't do chocolate vanilla swirl cones here." Our response was "OK, just chocolate dipped vanilla cones then." Her response: "Our chocolate dipped ain't workin" We replied with "Ok, Just 2 vanilla cones please" Her response: "our ice cream is coming out like water." Meanwhile we saw several people coming out of the store with blizzards and ice cream cones, and the people in front of us getting ice cream cones. Not sure what we did to get denied, nor do I care. I have my own opinions on the matter which I will not share here, but regardless, bad experience. We ended-up getting chicken strip meals which were quite good, but had to go across the street to MacDonald's to get ice cream cones. Messed up! read more

I was given the the wrong blizzard and smoothie, it wasn't full, and was half melted. They didn't even turn it upside down probably because it wouldn't have stayed in the cup. My fries tasted burnt and weren't hot and the worker who took my order was very rude to me and my friend. However one of the others workers was nice. The bathrooms were super gross and smelled horrible. On the plus side there was a Guineahen in the parking lot which was cool. read more

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. I understood that they had a busy night but the service was OK. I ordered in the drive-through They also don't take American Express... odd right? So I paid in cash. They forgot one of my drinks. A friend of mine ordered a chicken sandwich and half of her chicken was UNCHEWABLE. Literally. It was hard as a brick. I definitely won't come back anytime soon. I had not been to my local DQ in awhile but recently stopped by and ordered the fried chicken salad. I was so surprised when they handed me my salad. It was huge! And very fresh! I had not ordered one in several months . I wonder if there is new management. It was a huge improvement from the ones I had eaten in the past. And my hubby ordered onion rings and again the portion was large for the price and enough to share with our littles! We will definitely be visiting more frequently! read more

Me and my mom just got food and it was bad. They usually put the meals in separate boxes and make it neat but it was all put into one bag on top of each other and dumped halfway out. All of it was barely warm and tasted like it was food from this morning reheated. I will never go to Dairy Queen in Brookhaven again. They need new workers and cooks who won't serve people nasty old food like that. The past 5 or 6 times I've went I thought maybe it would be better but their fries are usually not cooked all the way and the chicken is a little cold but it hasn't been better in a while. They overcharged my mom for a meal. A 4 piece with a drink Is supposed to be $6 and some change with tax but they charged her $8 and some change for that meal but then charged her $9 and some change for a large which has way more food!! Great food, friendly staff and extremely clean. Obviously a very popular restaurant to eat at because cars were waiting out to the street for drive-thru service. Came out to the table to check on us and cleaned off table for us. Outdated but I wouldn't let that stop you from eating there because they make up for it in other ways. The staff there are always welcoming. The food has always been really good. Sometimes the white gravy is a little off but it can't be perfect all the time right? The restaurant is mostly clean.
