I debated a lower rating just because the speed was so slow, I nearly left. But when I got to the window, it was very obvious they didn't have staffing, as it was one woman in the front of house for drive thru and sit down. She was so kind and quick when I got to the window, even acknowledge the time it took and say but here is your blizzard. Blizzard was good and tasty, and I even got a few big Oreos in mine! Which is always a fun surprise to me! Patience is key here, but I believe that's all places right now!

Hamburger patty must have been cooked a while ago as my burger was served cold. The cheese wouldn't even melt. Ugh!

I've adjusted it to reflect what actually happened and made the sequence clearer…read more The shop was clean, welcoming, and the gelato itself was delicious. I'd definitely come back because the quality of the gelato was excellent. The only area that could use some improvement was the customer service flow. When we walked in, there was one employee working, a customer with three young children who was taking quite a while deciding on flavors, and another customer who appeared to be waiting to pay. I don't know how long he had already been waiting, but by the time he finally paid, he had nearly finished eating his gelato. While the family was still deciding, the customer herself kindly told us to go ahead and place our order so she wouldn't keep holding us up. We appreciated that gesture and stepped up to order. I ordered chocolate and stracciatella. When I asked for chocolate, the employee asked if I was sure and whether I'd had it before. She did offer me a sample, which was thoughtful, but it caught me off guard since I wasn't expecting to have to justify my flavor choice. I also asked if they had cones, and she said they didn't. She then asked what size cup I wanted. I replied that I'd like one scoop of each flavor, not realizing the scoop count and cup size were separate choices. It took a couple of exchanges before I understood what she meant. A little more explanation upfront would have made the ordering process much smoother. After our gelato was prepared, I expected we'd be able to pay and move on. Instead, the employee immediately went back to helping the family continue sampling and deciding on flavors before ringing us up. By the time we were finally able to pay, my husband had almost finished eating his gelato. The employee was genuinely friendly and patient, especially with the family, and I understand it's not easy managing everything alone. I just think some additional training on balancing multiple customers--such as quickly checking out customers whose orders are already complete before returning to someone who is still deciding--would make the experience much smoother for everyone. Overall, the gelato was delicious, the shop was clean, and I'd happily come back. I just hope the service flow improves because the product itself is definitely worth the visit.

A pleasant foodie surprise in San Angelo!…read more I had to come into San Angelo for work and going into the trip, I was not too excited about my food options available to me as a vegetarian...but I did find Buttercup online and it seemed close enough to those "hip, city coffee shops", meaning I should be able to get some decent food! Unfortunately, a lot of their hot sandwich options were off the table since they seemed to have a broken toaster, but I was able to order a hummus veggie sandwich that came with seasoned potato chips, a side salad, and a stick of chocolate. I also got a vanilla cake bite (pop without the stick) and everything was about $18 with tip. I didn't feel like trying any of the drinks, but some of the coffee flavors sounded interesting and they have seasonal flavors too. The ambiance is inviting, and definitely feels like a cozy place for the community to come hang. If you ever find yourself in this part of west Texas, definitely keep this spot in your back pocket for close to healthy eats!

The coffee options are plentiful and they do their own take on both custom and traditional coffee drinks. You will find all your caffeine needs here. They also have a good menu. It ranges from custom toasts to toasted bagels and even extensively crafted charcuterie boards. Service is friendly and knowledgeable and they have a drive thru if you are in a hurry. There are a few good coffee options in San Angelo and if you are in Buttercup's part of town, this is your stop.

Based on those prices, I expected my total with tax to be around $19-20. Instead, my bill came to $23.38. When I called to ask about the charges, I was told they no longer had the original ticket, so they couldn't review the itemized bill. The employee explained that I had been charged $3 for the onion ring upgrade instead of the $2 shown on the menu, and that my soda had apparently been upgraded to a large without my knowledge or permission, adding another $1. They also mentioned there were several other small charges that contributed to the total, even though I never requested any extras. The restaurant refunded me $2, but that still left me paying $21.38 instead of $19 for a burger, onion rings, and a soda, which I find excessive. I've always met clients at another restaurant when I'm in town for business, but this time my meeting was here at someone else's suggestion. Compared with both the restaurant I normally visit and restaurants where I live, I found the prices and unexplained charges disappointing. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.
