This is a solid rooftop in a tourist-y/business traveler-y part of midtown, on top of Hotel Hendricks. In terms of views, I would say you get an EXCELLENT view of the Empire State Building, even if the skyline in its entirety is not as stunning at other places. Note that there are 2 indoor lounges and a smaller outdoor (not covered) rooftop terrace (you need to take ~2 flights of stairs to get to the outdoor part). I went on a Tuesday, and the entire place was PACKED by 7 PM. The drinks here are not exceptional, but they ARE strong. They are also priced like cocktails in Midtown ($18+ range). We did not have a chance to try the food here, but this really feels more like a drinks-focused place. Stick with doing that here and eat elsewhere. read more

Great spot in midtown for happy hour. A Manhattan for $10 is very rare these days, particularly with such an incredible view of the Empire State Building. We didn't have reservations but stopped by because we were in the area and still got a window table (arrived around 5pm for sunset. I've been to Daintree twice now and absolutely love it. Both times I've made reservations which I would highly recommend (the rooftop doesn't require reservations but the area is quite small). Happy hour drinks are $12 and the views of the Empire State Building are STUNNING. This is a great option for when you have friends or family visiting NYC. read more

Impromptu came for Oysters at the bar after happy hour drinks nearby because my friend insisted of having oysters at a bar. $26 for a 1/2 dozen seemed a bit pricey but it was topped with trout roe so maybe that explains it? The vibe on a Thursday night was a bit strange - a gentleman sitting next to us seemed to be getting into an altercation with one of the staff (he may have been getting cut off). The view was good, but the space felt a bit narrow and claustrophobic. Also be careful: they automatically add a 20% gratuity to our bill. If you want a cozy spot for city views and great sunsets, this is a great choice. Daintree kept coming up in my search for a decent bar with skyline views. I highly suggest making a reservation if at all possible. I was alone so I sat at the small bar, but a group of any decent size will likely want a reservation in the larger room that has the best views. The bartenders were great, quick and helpful. I was impressed with the Tequila selection here too. All in all, great spot for midtown drinks and views. Highly recommend. read more

This is an honest review. It started okay with a 10:30 reservation using Resy. We arrived early and they seated us. Service was a little slow but the view was great and the server was nice. Ordered a bottle of wine and whipped ricotta. About 20 minutes later the music was turned up super loud and the mix was terrible. All highs and no bass at all. Good sings but they ruined them with ear splitting mix. Server disappeared for over 30 minutes. Finished our bottle and waited. And waited. Finally got up and went to the hostess and said we need to pay and leave. Eye rolls later and a 20% grat on a two top and we ended a great day in New York at this disappointment. Won't be back. Came here for a drink. The bartenders is very polite. Apparently you can get better drinks down in the main area than you can on the rooftop. But the roof is very nice, although small for seating. So make sure that you scout out prior to your party coming if hanging upstairs. Either way, it's an impressive area. read more

Came here for the oyster special that's running through February and am so glad we did. HH Special is $12 for a dozen oysters and one *classic* cocktail. Initially when we arrived there wasn't anything advertising it (one of those iykyk) so we ordered a regular cocktail before inquiring. Regular cocktails are approximately $18. Beyond the beautiful view the space is really well designed and perfect for a small group to hang out without feeling crammed or forced to finish drinking and moving on quickly. Even without the HH if you can get a spot with a solid view an $18 is still worth it to have an intimate conversation, impress an out-of-towner, etc. I'll definitely be back. read more

I hosted my 30th birthday here and I couldn't have been happier with how it all came together! Working with Olivia was great. She communicated everything upfront about food, drinks and fees and I never felt in the dark. I rented the left side of the rooftop which had a great view of the Empire State Building. I hosted a woman's networking happy hour at the Daintree. Liv is the event planner and she's amazing to work with. So sweet, attentive, and responsive. They gave us 1/4 of the rooftop for our group of 20-30 and it was perfect. The views are killer, no matter which side you are on. The only thing I would mention is the lighting - for a work event, it got really dark after the sun set. Romantic for normal occasions though! The lights they had were a bit harsh bc at eye level. Other than that, my group had an amazing time and everyone commented on great the venue was. Definitely a hidden gem in midtown. Looking forward to hosting another one there. read more

Hostess Claudia and General Manager Gerardo, ZERO stars Bartenders and Security, Hayden, 5 stars! We were recommended the Daintree by another rooftop down the street that was hosting a private party. Upon arriving to the Daintree rooftop, we were rudely greeted by Hostess Claudia where we were told Daintree was first come first serve, almost at capacity and we would need to look around ourselves for seating. We did, found a nice corner, and went up to the bar to order. Shortly after ordering, a cocktail waitress asked if she could help us, we told her we had just ordered at the bar, and she offered to help with our second round when we were ready! We ended up ordering our second round at the bar, as our cocktail waitress was busy, though appreciated her kindness. After getting our second drinks, we were rudely confronted by Hostess Claudia asking us to combine our party of 4 to 1 couch, as there were reservations coming in. We obliged, though asked Claudia why we were told there were no reservations and it was first come first serve. Claudia was incredibly curt and unprofessional immediately, stating reservations were through resi, acting as though we should know this and our question had offended her. We asked General Manager Gerardo if he could send the cocktail waitress over, and he said Daintree didn't do that and we needed to go to the bar. The inconsistency and lack of customer service was palpable. Hostess Claudia had a fake smug smile on her face while taking to us, and General Manager Gerardo talked down to us. Oh All four in our party were perplexed by this exchange. Following this, Security Hayden came up and informed us our time was up and we had to leave. We were shocked and confused at this news, asked why, and to speak to a Manager. General Manager Gerardo came up and without even asking us anything, started telling us we needed to leave the bar and were unwelcome. How things escalated to this point for Hostess Claudia and General Manager Gerardo is still perplexing to our party. We had just ordered our second round, were quietly tucked away in a corner, enjoying a drink after work. Security Hayden seemed as though this exchange with his colleagues towards customers was common, was incredibly kind to us, offering to comp our drinks in exchange for his unprofessional colleagues. While the bartenders and Security Hayden were delightful, the staff that greets customers at the door, Hostess Claudia and General Manager Gerardo create a miserable experience at Daintree and I would NOT RECOMMEND. read more
