The lentil soup was remarkably bland and lacked the depth and seasoning that had made it memorable before. The chicken wings were dry and arrived without being tossed in the sauce. I brought the issue to the server's attention after tasting one of the wings and explained that I was a returning customer with very specific expectations of the wings based on my previous experience. His response was a shrug, and the item remained on my bill. I took both the soup and wings home and attempted to rescue them myself--adding vegetables and seasoning to the lentils and air-frying the wings with additional seasoning and sauce. They were considerably better after the intervention. That, unfortunately, was the takeaway: when a restaurant has previously given you something worth returning for, consistency matters. So does acknowledging a guest's feedback when the experience misses the mark. I left disappointed, but perhaps the meal served as a reminder that sometimes the best version is still the one I make at home. The two cold appetizers - hummus and baba ghanoush with pita bread were edible. Disappointed overall.

There's a little Aladdin lantern at each table, and woven carpets "floating" from the ceiling. Near the entrance there's a wine section, with wines from places you don't often find in the average wine shops. Then there are refrigerated cases for cold mezze, feta cheeses etc, and at the far end some grocery items like beans, coffee, halva (sesame candies so delicious!), nuts, and more. The waitstaff is very nice, we took their recommendations and got a fresh lemonade. Very pretty w lime zest (and herbs?) floating in it, though a bit on the sweet side. I like how they have plenty of vegetarian options. Their baba ganoush is smokey and creamy. And everything is nicely presented, and looks fresh and homemade.

The owner (I think) is a gem. She's so attentive and kind, and recommends excellent food items. Lastly, the ambiance... It is for real, for real. Vibrantly decorated, enough seating, good music. My only issue was leaving the space smelling like food. Huge pet peeve of mind, but be aware that the kitchen is open to the main dining space and market. If you want to not walk out smelling like the back kitchen, sit outside (but on a cooler day).

High quality, no seed oils, and tastes phenomenal -- doesn't get better than this. Shahs of Kabob…read moreis honestly one of my top go-to spots when it comes to authentic Persian cuisine. The quality of the food is truly unmatched. The koobideh platter or chicken joojeh platter are typically my first pick; with a side of their salad, rice and sumac sauce, simply made to perfection. You can tell the owners have poured their heart into the business, because the food and the service speak for themselves. Another plus? The pricing. It's so reasonable, I wish more restaurants used great ingredients without charging you an arm and a leg. Absolutely love this spot. If you're thinking of trying it out... consider this your sign.

OK experience eating a ground meat kabob close to our motel…read more Shahs' of Kabob started in 2017, and has expanded to ten locations. It serves halal Persian cuisine in a fast casual environment. This location in South Miami is quite small, with only seating for 10 or so people. One thing we noticed right away was the delicious smell coming from the indoor grill...pretty much told you that the roasted meats were going to be good. I wasn't too hungry so ordered the small plate of Koobideh ($15). The cashier was nonchalant when asked about what to recommend. Once ready, it was brought over to our table. It came with a large mound of saffron rice, which was quite good. A better choice would have been half and half of a small salad with the rice. The koobideh was very similar (even exactly the same to my untrained palate) to a Turkish adana kebab or an Arabic kefta...made with a combination of beef and lamb ground meat, made flatter vs round. It was warmed/cooked over a grill and had that nice char taste that one gets from grilling. I didn't notice there were condiments in ketchup/mustard squeeze bottles until too late...it gives the place a kind of hot dog joint feel which I don't think was the intention.
