    The best ham pie
    Retna S.

The best ham pie for Easter. They have broccoli knish which is disappointing because I barely tasted the broccoli, and pizza knish which is better because the bread is soft with lots of pizza fillings. They also make ground chicken meat loaf stuffed with spinach and another one with roasted pepper. They gave the instruction on how to reheat it on the container. Unfortunately they charge 2 percent fee for using card

This place is a local gem. We picked up chicken parmigiana, eggplant parmigiana and rice pudding. Wow. Everything was great and tasty. The eggplant parm was amazing. Customer service was great. Place was clean. There is also a freezer where you can pick up items for later in the week. The portions are large. The tray of food serves 4 people easily. The Eggplant parmigiana sells out quick so go early. We will definitely be back.

Love this place! The deboned stuffed chicken is amazing. We got this stuffed with the traditional bread stuffing and it was delicious. You can get it cooked for you or all prepped to be cooked at home. Will definitely get again!

Bada Bing! This neighborhood spot deep in the heart in of South Philly boasts of all that old school Italian charm. This is one of the last around of its kind around and it's truly a gem and super refreshing. Here in this tiny corner spot you'll find... Fresh bread Jersey tomatoes Home-made pastas dishes such as baked ziti, eggplant, chicken and veal parm ready for the oven and clearly labeled with cooking instructions. A freezer full of ravioli and homemade soups to go. Fresh mozzarella and sausage An entire case of prepared foods including tortellini salads, grilled veggies, delicious broccoli rabe, three different types of wings, breaded and grilled chicken cutlets and more. Hubs favors the BBq wings and loves the buffalo chicken! They will also stuff chicken cutlets any way you desire! Just ask! Spinach and cheese, ham and cheese, broccoli rabe. You name it! This is an especially fantastic spot for last minute company and or nights when you don't feel like cooking dinner! The guys here couldn't be any nicer and the quality is great! You just feel good supporting this place too!

Dad's! You suck! Thanks to you, my mom said, I made the best pasta faggoli since! Well... that must not say much for her... she taught me! Yep! I still played it off... sorry.. even added cannelloni beans! Haha! figured I'd give you the shout on here instead since she doesn't really know south Philly. But, haven't "imitated " anything horrible yet. Inspiring! Hope you had a great thanksgiving!

    They have what you want.

So 1 cow heart, 5 lbs of chicken wings, 2 large smoked cow bones, 1 turkey backbone, 2 turkey wings, 1 neck, 1lb of gizzards, 4lbs of bacon, 3 cornish hens and 6 steaks-- over 70lbs of food--- that he had to huff around that market!! cuz he said he could.. I was very impressed but anyway... 1. Service here is exceptional- I don't buy my meats anywhere else here at the terminal. 2. Best prices and quality for what you need 3. THAT BACON is amazing 4. They also carry other big game meat and I love that the venison is always fresh and makes my venison chili and stew perfect. I've been buying meats and specialty meats here for years, def worth the drive. My dining companion argued strenuously that pickles have no place on a hoagie but I ignored him lol. I skipped the mayo tho. Surprisingly Dan takes credit cards and Apple Pay, $5 min. He keeps long hours for such a simple sandwich shop. Dan's used to be a butcher & convenience store, maybe back in 1947. Now the shelves are mostly empty except for chips soda and milk, and the butcher case mostly has coleslaw and deli meats. It's actually kind of depressing if you walk to the back. Next time I'll get a meatball or tuna hoagie. Vegetarian rating: one star, they don't even try.

Its a small old school deli that slices the meat to order and provides service with a smile. I was working in Fishtown and checked yelp real quick to see if there was a new spot nearby that I could try for lunch. Dan's had very good reviews and it was less than 5 minutes away. I think its a husband and wife that run this place but I wasn't 100% sure. I ordered a large Italian hoagie and woman behind the counter grabbed the roll from the clear bin in front of the counter and the gentlemen sliced the meat fresh for my Italian and added peppers, oil & vinegar and SPO. There are not many places that still operate like a true old school deli and I really enjoyed it. As she handed me the hoagie she asked if I had ever been there before to which I answered "no." She said well you'll be back. I loved the confidence and she was 100% right! If you are in the area and love a good Italian hoagie Dan's is a must try.

No disrespect at all to Heather Thomason, because this really is her brain child. I've loved following her for a few years now and was happy her kickstarter was backed. I really wanted to contribute and fought for it a bit, but it was backed before I made up my mind. I did wrestle with it for a bit, about what package I would get, but I knew it would be logistically hard to support. We walked in and saw a lot of interesting items. Duck Eggs really caught our eye, but we didn't want to carry them around with us. Decided to leave the store, go to ITV for a drink, and come back before they closed at 6:00 PM. Ordered a nice cut of flank steak and the duck eggs. Maybe for a Kangaroo burger later this week? I just love the idea here, where Primal wants to be more interconnected with farms. I'm really into better quality eggs now, for when we make pasta or things like that. Knowing what the animal ate, really helps make a better product when egg is the star.

I loved the stories and reputation that Heather Thomason set during her time at Kensington…read moreQuarters. And although I still haven't gotten around to trying it during that time, I was looking forward to her and Cecille May's commitment to make sustainable, pasture-raised meat more readily available to Philadelphia when they branched out on their own for Primal Supply Meats (https://www.phillymag.com/foobooz/2016/05/31/kensington-quarters-butcher-heads-out-on-her-own/). And when I sampled their offerings at spots like Stargazy, Garage, and Tired Hands Fermenteria it added up to some of the best meat dishes I've had. While they did an amicable job of providing their meats to restaurants and farmers markets, Primal Supply really needed a butcher shop of their own to better prepare Philly for the carnivore cravings that their meats illicit. And when I heard that they were set to open a few blocks away from me in the spot that used to house the old East Passyunk hardware store (https://www.phillymag.com/foobooz/2017/12/15/primal-supply-butcher-shop-east-passyunk/), it lead to some of the best sausages that I've had (and I say this as a Cappuccio's die hard! - https://www.yelp.com/biz/cappuccios-meats-philadelphia). the bacon & thyme pork sausage was sweet yet smoky and savory at the same time. And the pork Vindaloo yielded an ample amount of Indian spices and heat. Add in the ability to get beef, pork, chicken, liver, lamb, goat stew, and even pet food, and you'll find a huge variety of options. They also carry local cheeses from the likes of Birch Run Farms, pasta from Severino, and the oppotunity to join their pay as you go Butcher's Club meat program, making it another solid addition to East Passyunk!
