This is a festivity…read morefit for all, family friendly or a perfect date or just to come stroll and enjoy a unique display of art. This festival is held at the Central Florida Zoo, and sprawls all the way through the zoo, which is cool. You are able to see some of the animals along with the lanterns- if they're out at night, since the festival is in the evenings. It has a really fun variety of installations, sectioned into like 4 different areas with very different themes. There's a Florida section, of course, a garden area as well as a fantasy land, and some others. The entire thing goes in a big loop around the zoo so it's easy to navigate. It's such a stunning display: gorgeous and otherworldly art that really not enough words can sum up just how cool it actually is. It's one of those times where you feel all the good things in the world at once when you're looking at the lanterns and it's almost euphoric, walking through the colors and sparkles and interactions of culture, beauty and design. They do have a lot of concessions options around if you want snacks or something to drink. And there's quite a few interactive areas- one of my favorites were the nitro bubbles by the big crab, such fun! This is so worth the price of admission and I'd recommend going earlier, like right when the festival opens to beat all the crowds because it gets really packed.

This was such a unique experience, it's in my area but first time I had the opportunity to attend…read more The tickets we're about $25 per person, free parking at the Central Florida Zoo. It's held at night so the zoo itself was closed. The entire zoo was adorned with the Asian themed displays. Lots of lights and moving displays to look at and interact with. If you have kids they will definitely enjoy this, I didn't go with kids but I also enjoyed the experience. You can bring snacks and water probably, no one checked my bag, I did have a bottle of water with me, wish I thought about the snacks also. If you have kids I'd definitely bring a few snacks, they do have some stands with food and snacks, as you'd expect they're expensive. Great experience and I'd do it again.

This was my daughter's favorite exhibit. A speaker turned your voice into a bird's mimic and the beaks moved as they repeated your words.

Excellent fireworks display in Sanford tonight!…read more We've been going to Gemini Springs for the last three years, so it was nice spending the evening in our home town for the evening. I have to say it was packed tonight, but nothing that our town couldn't handle. Parking it's a PITA for most, but when you have the option of coming down on a bicycle or golf cart it's a piece of cake. There was a LOT more food and merchandise vendors here when compared to our last Independence Day celebration here three years ago. All of the food and drink looked good but boy those food truck prices can be a bit steep. One Truck was selling sandwiches for $18, and several others selling light beer for $8 a pop, crazy! It was super muggy in Sanford today, so if you do decide to come here for this event, Irecommend bringing a personal battery powered fan and some handy wipes to stay fresh and clean the duration of the event. There are plenty of porto potties but not enough areas to wash your hands, another reason why the handy wipes are so important. Fireworks started at 9:15 pm and lasted about 20 minutes, they were good but nowhere in comparison to Red Hot & Boom in Altamonte Springs the night previous. Regardless, this was a great time and overall the city of Sanford does a amazing job putting this event together. All and all if you are looking for a great place to spend Independence Day with your friends and family than put Sanford on your list for next year!

Large food truck area I think there may have been 15 trucks. Small stage with a band, with music speakers placed all down the road. Fireworks were good, lasted about 20 min. Downtown Sanford was jamming after the Fireworks lots of bands playing. Our Friends band played at the Alley Out On Bail. Good band! Great night.

Super fun event held in Sanford annually. If you love puppy dogs, live music, food trucks, and beer…read morethis event is for you. Although this event is usually a blast, I wish they would schedule it when it's a little cooler out. It's almost always blazing hot the day of the event and it was again this time around. We would love to bring our dog but we would have to run her back to the house after 30-minutes in that heat. There are plenty of spots for dogs to cool off in ice baths and whatnot but it's still too hot for her regardless. There were 70+ craft brewers, 20+ food trucks, a variety of vendors selling dog treats, clothing, and other misc. dog supplies. There were other vendors on site selling jewelry, cigars, artwork and other items you typically see at events like this. There were several bands playing the day of the event, one at Celery City and the other at West End. There were several one-man-band type artists gigging in the general area and also a DJ across from Celery City. Literally entertainment everywhere. The event starts at 11am and ends at 5pm. VIP is $60 and gets you a glass cup, event tee and access to the VIP area located inside West End where they have air conditioning, some food, and discounted cocktails. General Admission is $30 and gets you a wristband so you can sample everything. Either way you go, it's a good deal for a fun day out. There is a voting area where you can vote for your favorite brewer and brewer that provided the best accommodations for dogs which was fun. It was setup just like a real voting booth, good job on that. All-in-all, it's a great event and I think it's awesome that Sanford keeps this event going. My only recommendation is to get here early enough to beat the heat, and try to find shady areas and fresh water every opportunity you can to keep you pup cool and happy.

I have beer, HTC drinks and other vodka based drinks in a can. They had two stages with bands. Free parking around the city. It started out real hot but then the breeze came and cool things down thank goodness. This was the biggest one I've ever seen It keeps growing every year.
