Came with the crew before Trad on the Prom (hello -- that deserves 5 stars but I can't find it on Yelp?!) they were busy enough for a Tuesday night but they found us a nice big table. Waiter was friendly and we all enjoyed beverages -- mine a tasty Bombay and Tonic with a few slices of lemon and lots of ice -- so you know I'm happy. Soup starter was good but the mushroom risotto was heavenly. Well prepared and tender with a real taste of Irish mushrooms. We all left happy, a very enjoyable meal! read more

I returned here for a quick lunch on a beautiful day during the summer and sat outside by myself. I had a red pesto cream pasta (I think Calabrese?) and it was absolutely one of the best pastas I've ever had. I also had the garlic bread which was a pizza base. I'm not big on pizza base garlic bread as I find it too filling and greasy, but this was really tasty. The service was good too. read more

FOOD: Overall, it was ok. Having eaten many Italian restaurants, I really expected more after reading the reviews. The pizza was a bit sloppy, very oily, poorly cut and the sauce was rather bland. The fusilli baked pasta dish had a great sauce (3-stars), but it needed more umph from the vegetables and chicken. SERVICE: Waiters were extremely friendly, but we waited around for 10 minutes before being asked for our drinks. After that, they came by only twice and it was definitely not as personable as another review. OVERALL: The place had room so we went in, I was expecting an overall better experience but the food, inattention and overall heat in the restaurant led to this review. read more

Oh my lanta! I just went to a dinner with a large group of college students celebrating! The layout of the restaurant is beautiful and modern. The lighting/decor is interesting, and colorful. Everything was delicious. I had a seafood pasta with wine sauce that was amazing. Across from me, my friend got some sort of baked pasta with riscotta cheese and mushrooms, it was amazing. My friend next to me ordered a steak, and he loved it. Then the dessert - oh sweet lord in heaven... We decided to taste one another's desserts, & they were all scrumptious! The tiramisu was out of this world! Creamy, full of flavor, and perfect texture! The ice cream that was multi flavored was delicious (vanilla toffee and chocolate), and of course the chocolate bumpy something or other... It was exemplary. I had the berry cheesecake... And it was really strange. I didn't care for this much at all. The outside of the slice was rubbery, and then biting into it was spongy. The sauce on top was fine. Next to how amazing every other dessert was, I was highly disappointed with my dessert. Even still, everything else was above and beyond. read more

The salmon and pasta was delicious. The seafood is fresh. They have free WiFi, which is nice for international travelers. Tap water in Galway has an "earthy" taste, so I would suggest ordering bottled water if you want to avoid that. Otherwise, this is a great evening dinner option. read more

The best Italian restaurant that I have been in Ireland. I had antipasto, spaghetti bolognese on the first day and garlic bread, lasagne and prosseco duribfmg the second. Everything was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. I hope they open a place in Dublin. Me and my family decided to dine at 'Da Robertas' this evening. To start off as soon as we entered the restaurant the furnishing is beautiful and authentic looking. We only had to wait less than five minutes for a table of 5 to be prepared, and there was seating for us to sit whilst we waited. Once we were being taken to our seat there was a whole other area which was very unexpected and was very modern with relaxing music, we ordered a starter and drinks together and it only took a matter of minutes to get there starters to share between all five of use. The starters were delicious and all of our plates were cleared. A couple of minutes after our starters our main courses came. All of our mains were absaloutly delicious and we all cleared, our waiter was amazing and was recommending drinks for us. Overall the food and drink was amazing for the prices. The restaurant furnishing was amazing, presentation of food was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed our night at Da Roberta's and would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. Great time and will come again! read more

Service with a warm welcoming smile and food that was top quality from start to finish. A large number of us dined here very recently for a special birthday gathering and it was an extremely memorable evening. Despite getting our time of arrival mixed up and huge heartfelt apologies, we got seated within a half an hour, even though we did have to go to a nearby bar as our group was too large to wait in the restaurant. However, we we returned the table was all set and beautifully decorated with large helpings of appetisers and plenty of Prosecco (provided free on the house I believe!). The orders for our starters and mains, were taken promptly, despite the large number, and, indeed, the huge choice on offer for both courses. The atmosphere was wonderful, warm and jolly, however, those seated on the inside large seats were somewhat hemmed in and it was difficult to get out (to go to the toilet for example) without disturbing a lot of other guests! Speaking of toilets, my only major gripe was that, for a restaurant of its size, there was only one toilet each for males and females and thus there was a constant queue. However, the food was absolutely delicious and our large group had a whole variety of dishes, from Italian to the humble chicken or steak, and there was not a single grumble or complaint. The restaurant also provided a large birthday cake for the guest of honour at our table and this was served for dessert. Wonderful experience overall and top marks to the Manager and staff for their attention to detail, but mostly for their lovely warm friendly and happy dispositions! read more

The proprietor (and the rest of the staff) was extremely friendly and accommodating, despite it being a busy night. We were walk-ins but were seated fairly promptly and with graciousness. The food was subpar. Pasta was less than al dente (basically not cooked long enough and straight out of a box). I had pasta with shrimp, zucchini, garlic, and white wine. I opted to hold the tomato sauce and have it prepared with butter. The five shrimp were not fresh tasting and again, the pasta! My Mom had the pasta carbonara. Also undercooked and less than flavorful. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more

My husband and I ate here both nights that we were staying in Galway. The first night was incredible so we decided we had to come back the second night. The pasta was absolutely wonderful. I had my 60th birthday here. It was wonderful. Dario went to a lot of trouble to make sure everything was right for my party. He decorated the table provided complimentary prossecco and nibbles to start. He gave me a huge menu to choose from and gave the house wine at a very reasonable price. We arrived in for a family dinner without a reservation and were seated within 10 minutes. The staff were lovely and welcoming and the food was very good. The service was ok, a tiny bit slow but nothing to moan about really. We shared a Quattro Formaggi pizza as a starter and it was very good. Wonderful casual restaurant in the heart of Salthill (it's opposite the BoI - or roughly where the Castle nightclub used to be, if you're as old as me) where the atmosphere is warm and bustling. The decor is supposed to remind you of Sicily on a summer's evening - and clever engineering means that illusion will not be dispelled by Atlantic gusts. Other hostelries on the western seaboard should take note. We arrived with no booking on a Thurs night, and instead of rolling their eyes at our lack of foresight, the maitre smiled, told us, 'half an hour', and handed a glass of prosecco to everybody in our group. The food was wonderful - my pizza order didn't tax the kitchen, but my companions' calzone and pasta were perfect. A cajun chicken dish came with the sauce on the side, a nice touch for anybody who's unfamiliar with cajun spices. With coffee, and 2 glasses of house wine, the bill came to €72. I can see why it's necessary to book on a Thursday night: it's a wonderful addition to the food scene locally. read more
