Stopped here on our trek to Salthill and had a decent time. Service was slow but food was good. My husband got a board pizza and had a hard time finishing it besides the menu saying it was suitable for one adult, it's a lot of food! Despite that he said it was one of the better pizzas he's ever had. I did the bruschetta classica and the goat cheese pannino - no complaints here! read more

I wish I had better things to say about this place! I was on a lunch break from a tour around Ireland and only had 2 hours to spend in Galway and I'm pretty bummed that the one meal had was less than average. The reviews and appearance of the restaurant looked promising so I decided I'd give it a try especially since they offer gluten free options. Although the staff was friendly and the restaurant was cute inside, the service was slow which didn't make much sense since I only saw 3 or 4 other tables occupied. The more disappointing part though was the food not being great. Maybe I should have tried something else and yes it was gluten free but I've definitely had better gluten free pizzas at other authentic Italian restaurants. read more

We were craving Italian & stopped here for dinner, cute green atmosphere restaurant. I got the mushroom pasta, my friend got the bolognese & we also had the bruschetta. Unfortunately the food didn't reflect the prices for us. The mushroom pasta lacked any flavor, added salt/pepper chili oil and even my own hot sauce & it didn't help. The bruschetta was hard crunchy bread with hard tomato's & was difficult to eat. We heard from the table next to us that the pizza was good. So maybe skip the pasta & bruschetta here. Or maybe we caught them on an off day as service was slow. Regardless, left disappointed. read more

As a family of five, we were looking for a place in the Latin Quarter that didn't break the bank. After checking around ten different places we settle for Magnetti's. We figured two pizzas would be a good option. We ended up ordering more stuff as the food was great, and still breaking the bank. The "Cozze alla Romana" (Galway mussels) were delicious and a big enough portion to share. The pizzas were very good, and the fish of the day (locally sourced monk fish) was delicious, and for a change, it was not battered and fried. It came with a side of steamed broccoli, cauliflower and baked potatoes. If you are looking for great food, and possibly a break from Irish fare during your trip, Magnettis is a great option. read more

We absolutely loved this restaurant--our experience was nothing short of amazing! We started by sharing the bruschetta, which came with the delightful option to add our own oil and balsamic glaze. It was so fresh and flavorful, the perfect start to our meal. We paired it with a bottle of delicious red wine. The atmosphere was a solid 10/10--warm, inviting, and absolutely charming. The servers were incredibly friendly, taking the time to ask where we were visiting from and even offering recommendations for places to explore throughout Galway. Their kindness and welcoming nature made us feel right at home. For the main course, I ordered the Linguine del Pescatore, which was a perfect balance of comforting and packed with flavor. My husband, who was raised in an Italian household and is an exceptional cook specializing in Italian cuisine, ordered the Strozzapreti. He is very critical of Italian food, and even he was blown away by how incredible the dish was. We even shared a laugh with our waitress about the meaning of the dish's name. Both meals were absolutely delicious, showcasing the care and expertise in the kitchen. We were enjoying ourselves so much that we decided to do something we rarely do--order dessert! We shared the Affogato and ordered an additional carafe of wine to keep the evening going. Having traveled for nearly two weeks, we can confidently say this was our favorite meal and evening of the trip. It was a perfect combination of incredible food, excellent service, and a wonderful ambiance. Do not let the one-star review below fool you--you'd be missing out on an unforgettable dining experience. 10/10, highly recommend! No pics cause we were having fun in the moment! read more

Trattoria Magnetti was a gem we decided to try in Galway. We've noticed a high percentage of Italian restaurants on the Island and this is the 2nd we tried. I had gluten-free penne puttanesca. It was wonderful. My wife had a small cheese pizza and also said good thinks about it. The dining area is nice. The tables are close together and everyone talks to everyone. While there were more than a few tourists, there were plenty of locals. That says a lot about the restaurant. read more

The service was abysmal. It took over 30 mins after we sat down just to receive the wine we ordered. They weren't even busy, so the level of service should not have been that bad. It was the only restaurant in the vicinity that had available seating, which is what led us to eat at this restaurant in the first place. It now seems like the locals knew better than to dine here. We ordered the bruschetta, which wasn't great. I ordered the mushroom risotto which was also not the best. My boyfriend, however, ordered the steak and it came out completely raw. We aren't the type to send items back to a kitchen, but it was unbelievable how raw it was. It also took forever for a server to come back and check on us, and when we finally waived someone down to send the meal back, they apologized and rightfully took it off the bill and offered us a free dessert on the house. We would have taken them up on that, but nobody came back to take our dessert order so we just told them to forget it & left after paying the bill. This place was the worst dining experience we had in Ireland. read more

Ordered med rare Carre d'Agnello, def got very rare, dining party commented that they thought the lamb was still breathing. They are sourcing quality lamb either way! I didn't think there would be good Italian food in Ireland (coming from NY) and there it was, Trattoria Magnetti! Great atmosphere, great service, amazing food, and amazing wine. I was very impressed with the level of service and food quality at this restaurant and will definitely come back again in the future. The portions were great. Delicious meal. Caprese salad. Squid ink pasta. Bottles of dry red wine. Excellent service and ambiance. Felt welcome. Friends joined the table over time, and I it became a sort of fan-girling event as we all experienced this establishment, its food, and its (excellent) people. Emin was an absolute joy. Truly. As an American looking for some peace and carbs on St. Patrick's Day, he sat me by the window and was a gracious host. We loved everything about this place. Excellent fresh pastas, amazing bread, good wine selection. Bustling atmosphere and great service.

The real Italian experience in Galway, the ambiance, the service, the food & Italian Barbera Wine ,

This was such a delicious hidden gem in Galway. We were originally on the hunt for Mexican but walked by this place, took a quick look at the menu and decided it was exactly what we needed after wandering in the cold rain. The servers we encountered were so delightful and attentive. We started with the bruschetta appetizer, which was 10/10. I really liked that we were given the bruschetta without any oil or balsamic vinegar and were instead given the bottles to add to our preference. The mushroom & tomato was my absolute favorite of the three, with the original second and third, the olive (not an olive fan but was willing to try). For lunch I had the caprese starter. The mozzarella was absolute perfection, as were the tomatoes. I'm getting a little hungry just thinking about it. My friend ordered the ravioli with spinach (I forgot the proper name) and it was delicious. A generous portion and it tasted so fresh, sauce and all. We also splurged and for dessert & coffee knowing we'd be back out in the cold rain. Best decision. They do offer milk alternatives, as my friend got a soy latte. No idea what she got but I do know it was chocolatey and delicious. I had a cannoli & an americano & it was the perfect ending to an absolutely delicious lunch. We did end up sitting inside a little after to people watch and enjoy our drinks, it was such a welcoming environment. read more

We were looking for another restaurant but couldn't find it. Decided to try this place instead. It was very good. Our group ordered Seafood Risotto, Linguine and Ravioli. We all enjoyed it. My husband I had dinner here while visiting Galway (we're from the States) We had a very nice dinner. We ordered wine and beer and the eggplant to start. It was good but maybe a little small. I ordered the pumpkin ravioli and my husband had a calzone that was bigger than his head. Everything was great. The only thing was the calzone was a bit drier than we're used to back home (I guess Americans like extra sauce for everything?) so he asked for a side of sauce. The server went back and the chef said "they don't do sauce on the side" which we found very strange. We spent a lot of money and it seemed like such a small request. Other than that, the meal was very good and I would recommend. read more

Best Italian food we have had in Galway. Excellent service and ambiance. I had the seafood risotto and it was delicious!

This used to be a regular spot for us, have been coming here for the better part of a decade, but things have really changed post pandemic. Impossible to call and get through and they don't take reservations or even will put your name on a waiting list. You have to be lucky to even try to get a table. Very disappointed, and won't ever be back. read more

Despite the prime location on Quay street, Magnetti was a mix up of poorly executed food, rushed service and was definitely overpriced for its quality. My girlfriend and I were disappointed with an over hard egg on our carbonara pizza and the rocket salad had no rocket or dressing. The place is comparable to another local spot called Zappi's, a place where we were very happy with our food and the prices. If you are looking for good Italian, look elsewhere than Magnetti. read more

Delicious! Well worth stopping in. We ordered the penne with kalamata olives and capers, it was absolutely wonderful.

This is unfortunately a 2 for us. I say unfortunately because the food could have actually been good, but the service ruined the experience. The only reason it's not getting a 1 is because of the taste. From the minute we walked in, the manager must have been stressed because she was not very welcoming. It also appeared as though they were understaffed as we only interacted with a waitress (we did not have the same one throughout the meal) when we put in our order, when our appetizer was brought out twenty minutes later, and one hour after that when I went to the counter to ask if our pizza was on the way. When the pizza did arrive, the egg we had on top was hard and the pizza itself was cold. When we did inform the manager, she was dismissive and blamed the chef for the pizza rather than acknowledging we just had been forgotten. read more

OUTSTANDING! If you happen to be in the Galway area, specifically Quay Street, you should definitely stop in here. The menu presents a great array of Italian cuisines, ranging from a classic margarita pizza to a profound lamb rigatoni. I personally chose the margarita. It was excellent. Very thin crust. No complaints. Finally, the climax of the meal was dessert. I had the special "Bailey's Cheesecake" based on the famous Irish drink. This was probably the best dessert food I have tasted in my entire life....and I'm no sweet tooth. 11/10. If it is available, you have to get it. The Lemon Mousse with fresh mixed berries was also delicious. Service was great as well. Ultimately, this restaurant lives up to its 5 star rating. read more

Uniquely quaint, Trattoria Magnetti has a nice selection of lunch and dinner items. The place is warm and cozy and a great place to unwind and forget about life for a moment.
