Delightful little restaurant in the Latin Quarter of Galway. Bustling but attentive service and a nice little wine selection. We had the dishes pictured and thoroughly enjoyed them both. A wonderful respite from the bustle of the area, that I'd highly recommend. Reservations are a MUST, as several couples were turned away. I believe that there were only around eight tables. Dinner first night in Galway. The only place willing to take me. They were so nice and the food was excellent! I had the Malloreddus Sardi con Salsiccia (traditional Sardinian pasta w/ sausage), a side salad, and the pistachio ice cream for dessert. For wine, I had the Nero D'Avola Settesoli (Sicilia) which I had never heard of but the server recommended and said it was delicious. I had 2 glasses--maybe 3 ‍. She (the server) recommended everything that I ate and it was delicious! And it was only $44 euros! This experience was just what I needed on my first night in Galway after a delayed train and having to transfer to a bus to get here from Dublin. After being turned away from about 7 restaurants because they were "fully committed" and couldn't accommodate a party of 1, or the "kitchen was closed" despite the hours being advertised as open, Mona Lisa welcomed me with open arms and the warm Irish charm that I've experienced on this trip. I'll definitely come back the next time I'm in Galway. read more

I am not exaggerating when I say this is the best Italian food I've EVER HAD! I would have never expected to find Italian food this great-tasting in Ireland. We had the rigatoni, spaghetti bolognese, spaghetti scoglio and some alfredo fettucine (called a different name that I can't recall). Their mussels, garlic bread and wine were also fantastic. The tiramisu was top notch. You really can't go wrong! Do make reservations, though. This place gets busy in the evening. read more

Delicious for take-away - I wish I'd discovered Mona Lisa pre-COVID so I could get to sit in as well! We were blown away.

The original restaurant I wanted to try was closed on a Monday so I happened to run into other tourists who told me about Mona Lisa so I thought I'd try it out. WOW I was blown away with how amazingly delicious and authentic the food is!! The cook and waiter are from Italy and they know how to cook! You can get a lot of the menu items as tapas style so I decided to try a variety. I started with a glass of Pinot and the octopus starter, I was not disappointed. Then I got the sea bass stuffed ravioli with prawns and mussels and the flavor was incredible. I finished with the most tender beef I have EVER tasted (ask for the slow roasted beef). I have traveled to 21 countries, and this by far was the best beef I've had. The service was fantastic (waiter was Thomas), ambiance lovely, and if you're in town, please take my advice and come to Mona Lisa. (I know in the pic I spelled "muscles" wrong lol) read more

I came here with my friends for dinner on a Sunday evening so it was pretty quite. The restaurant itself is quite small with only about 5 or so tables and the atmosphere is fairly calm and relaxed. The menu had a nice variety of dishes ranging from pizza/ pasta to a few fish and meat dishes, available in tapas and main portions. I had the soup (carrot, turnip and leak) and baked hake, both of which were really good! The portions are substantial and the prices are reasonable; around €7-9 for tapas and €12-18 for main. The service was not bad either. Overall a nice little Italian restaurant in the city centre. read more

Outstanding food and service. Authentic Italian food and wine with highly professional chefs and servers who were vey engaging and made superb recommendations. Warm atmosphere with win related decor, proper wine glasses for a delicious red from Sardinia that I would have never known about on my own. Pizza crust was perfect with think cracking baguette like crust edge and perfect amount of sauce (light but flavorful) with sausage. Linguine with fresh mussels, shrimp, calamari in garlic, wine, butter sauce; exceptional Caprese with perfectly grilled eggplant than melted in our mouths with tomato and mozzarella; AND grand finale a wonderful mixed meat platter with steak perfectly cooked to our medium rare specifications, lamb, chicken and sausage with crispy potatoes wedges and salad.. WOW is all I call say. We, our family of four are visiting from California and eat at Italian restaurants frequently as we did in Italy (no surprise there. ;-} and all felt it has been our best meal in Ireland. read more

Little known fact about Ireland - they have amazing Italian food. And Mona Lisa's definitely serves great Italian food. Most bars stop serving food at 9pm but Mona Lisa's was still seating people at 10:15. And they offer both tapas size and full size portions of most items on their menu. The mussels were out of this world. Great pasta! They even have some organic wine on their wine list. And the waiters are from Italy!! Definitely try this place when you're in Galway. read more

This is a Sardinian restaurant with excellent food and service--a variety of fish and seafood and plenty of options for vegetarians. They were especially kind to my ten-year-old daughter. The wine was good, and relatively inexpensive. read more

Terrible Service. My fiancé and I came here late this evening looking for a bite to eat after a long day of traveling. The menu looked a little pricey, but we figured perhaps you get what you pay for. We each ordered a tapas portion (roughly Nine/Ten euro each). I quite honestly felt insulted when the meal came out. I thought maybe they were upset that we came in and hour before closing. I got 30 cents worth of noodles, a watery sauce and tiny piece of sausage. I didn't eat the meal and told the server I didn't like it. The server then proceeded to not care and after waiting a long time, we finally had to call for him to bring us a check. He certainly had no problems charging us for the meals. We ended up spending almost 30 € for a 3 or 4 € meal. We then walked to place nearby for a cheap burger and fries. If the server had even showed any interest in resolving the situation, I would not be writing this review. Maybe their bigger portions are more worth while, but it'd be a pretty pricey gamble to find out..... read more

The service here is terrible. I was surprised to see positive reviews considering my experience. I ordered a tapas pasta dish that was flavorless and had nothing to it. It had one half inch piece of sausage. I did not eat the meal and while the server took notice of this, he did not offer to replace the meal or remove it from the bill. I would never come back here again. Thoroughly disappointing. read more
