Estuvimos comiendo en Venice Ristorante Italiano, en Galway, y salimos encantados. Pedí el Calzone especial de la casa y estaba espectacular: masa perfecta, bien relleno y con un sabor bueno. Mi pareja pidió canelones, que estable igual de ricos, caseros y muy bien preparados. Pero además de la comida, quiero destacar algo que para nosotros fue muy importante. Al entrar preguntamos si alguien hablaba español y el cargado (creo que italiano) mención a Laura. Desde el primer momento nos atendió con una sonrisa y una profesionalidad excelente. Nos asejó muy bien qué pedir y estuvo pendiente de nuestra mesa durante toda la comida, igual que de otra mesa cerca donde entonces había españoles. Para quienes viajan y no dominamos mucho el inglés, se agradece muchosimo que el restaurante cerca con personal que hable español. Es un detalle de la empresa que facilita mucho las cosas y te hace sentir más modo. Gracias al restaurante por ese gesto y, sobre todo, gracias a Laura por el tratado tan amable y cerca. We passed this amazing gem of a restaurant, and were drawn in. Its setting was quiet and peaceful, with nice artwork on the walls. Very friendly staff helped us promptly. The menu has many amazing dishes; amazing starters and their mains are outstanding. My wife chose the risotto, and I had the tagliatelle: both were truly scrumptious. And their deserts were just as perfect. We will definitely be back!! read more

Dublin friends recommended this Italian restaurant when in Galway. Food was good, both dishes were ordered (Cannelloni di carne & Tagliatelle diavola) were flavorful, sauces were delicious, served fairly quickly. So glad we spotted this place as we were walking the city!! Reservations available but we went a little earlier than dinner so there was a table available thankfully. Menu seems well thought out and delicious across the board, I had a hard time picking my meal because they all sounded so good! Got the ravioli Ilia and was not disappointed. For dessert I ordered the affogato because I've never had it and always heard it made for a delicious ending. Ambiance was welcoming, every guest seemed very happy!! read more

So good! We got take out after a long day at the Cliffs of Moher and needed something that wasn't fried potatoes. We got the caprese, Caesar salad and two pasta dishes. We waited outside in their little waiting room for about 15 minutes for our food which was brought out to us. Was so tasty and the perfect serving. read more

The food was great! The manager however, was not. We made a reservation for six people. Four of us showed up together, and we told our server that the other two of our party are running a little bit late. The manager came up to our table 3 to 4 times asking where the rest of our party was, we informed him time and again they were on their way. We are foreigners and visiting for the first time so navigating the city can be tough. He would give us a dirty look and then walk away. It was so uncomfortable. I would understand if we hadn't ordered anything and we're just holding up a table, but we already began ordering appetizers and drinks, the rest of our party showed up and had a great experience, but the manager was still eyeing us and disappointment or something very uncomfortable. read more

The food and service were so exceptional that we ate there both nights in Galway. The manager was very accommodating and the we had the same fantastic wait staff both nights. After a long day of sightseeing and only eating croissants, apple pie and tea breads, I knew I needed a full meal. The night before I was told the Bolognese at Venice was fantastic so Venice was the spot. I appreciated the fact I had to wait to be seated instead of finding my own table (it's the small things) I started with the Galway Bay Mussels while my friend enjoyed the bruschetta. Thankfully they had our favorite wine and it was different than what was available at home! The Montepulciano is just amazing, absolutely recommend if you like Red! My friend ordered the infamous bolognese but I ended up with the Ravioli Ilia and we were both extremely happy. The bolognese came out steaming and very hefty portion while the ravioli ilia is delicious, a large portion isn't needed considering the heaviness of the cream sauce. Besides the food, the staff were also fantastic :) I would absolutely try again if I'm ever back in Galway! read more

This is what Italian food should taste like, wow. We stumbled across this place on a walk to another restaurant and just couldn't resist the smell of garlic and the American woman putting her thumbs up in the window encouraging us to come in...Always a good sign! It's a small, quaint restaurant with Italian music in the background and an open bar/restaurant area at the back. Rather romantic and atmospheric. We were seated quickly by the wonderful Italian owner and handed the menus. Holy moly there's a lot of options on this menu. It took me a good 15 minutes to read, digest and decide but I was very happy with my decision in the end. I ordered a glass of their apparently 1700's made wine (for just over a fiver) and then we opted for the Antipasti Misto sharing platter for two and the Ravioli Di Mare. Alex ordered the cannelloni di carne. The Antipasti Misto arrived and boy oh boy did it just look great. It contained Italian Parma ham, salami, salad, sweet corn, olives, grilled peppers, feta & buffalo mozzarella cheese, served with garlic pizza bread - all was fresh and tasted superb. There wasn't a drop left on the plate and I have to say that the salad dressing and olives were amazing compliments to the dish as a whole. Now to my ravioli - Ravioli stuffed with ricotta cheese & spinach, pan fried fresh prawns, garlic, chillies, white wine, and spring onion, in freshly chopped tomato sauce. What a sauce and what a dish. The ravioli was definitely made fresh and came in huge pieces and the sauce was truly divine. Thick and rich with a great kick to it - highly highly recommended! Alex's cannelloni was great too! I had a couple of bites and it was everything a cannelloni should be: cheesy, tomatoey and meaty. Great. We had a fantastic meal and evening, left stuffed and with a doggy bad. If you're in Galway definitely go here. You will not regret it! read more

Went with a group of 8. Were seated promptly and drink order taken quickly. Order was taken and food delivered promptly. I personally ordered the Margherita pizza. It was described on the menu as a classic style Margherita with basil etc. What came out was a plain cheese pizza. Well cooked and tasty, but a far cry from the classic tomato, mozzarella, and basil pie I was expecting. My friend ordered the salmon and prawn salad which comes with garlic bread. She was disappointed with her salmon and especially the garlic bread. Which seemed to just be my pizza crust without any garnishing, including the crucial ingredient of garlic for garlic bread. The wait staff was phenomenal and attentive, but the food simply can't be recommended at this price. read more

Venice has really amazing pasta and wine. We were here on our second night in Galway and really enjoyed the experience. The staff was helpful and charming. We ordered the chicken basil pesto pasta, garlic bread (sooooo cheesy) and a bottle of white wine. It was amazing to say the least. The place is quaint and cute, located on a small street in Galway. The inside is cozy, small and a place I felt like I could stay for a while. The flavors of the pasta were authentic. The grated cheese was awesome and the wine topped it all off. I'm so glad that we randomly popped into this Italian restaurant. Come here for good food and equally good vibes! read more

A friend recommended this place to us for dinner but for the most part the pasta tasted like it came from a package. I had to add in my own seasoning and extras to my pasta just to make it somewhat edible. The service is good but, it seemed like they were standing around and staring us the whole time while we ate which made the experience uncomfortable. I go to Venice Cafe on a regular basis. As a local, and an Italian food lover I have tried most of the Italian restaurants in Galway, and recommend Venice as the best. Nicely laid out, broad menu (including a great wine list and beer/liquor selection), and friendly attentive staff. The menu has lots of options, I often have the calamari, mussels or risotto balls as a starter, and their pizzas are delicious. Thin crust with generous toppings. Reasonably priced, great food, friendly and knowledgeable staff-I highly recommend Venice if you are in the mood for great Italian food. read more

Venice had decent food. We came in rushing to find a restaurant for our group with enough seating at the last minute. The service was terrible and disorganized. There were close to half a dozen different staff members coming to or table. They didn't know what each had done before or what we had already ordered. They had to be asked three times for a check. The biggest issue was when the check finally came. When paying with card, one of the servers stammered about and asked whether we wanted "to add anything to the bill" and we didn't reply. Then I noted the bottom of the check indicating "service charge not included." The credit payment printed off with a section saying "Gratuity: €0" in a moment of hesitation we tipped €20. I have travelled a significant bit and spent plenty of time in Ireland. I have never seen a gratuity section on a restaurant tab. In Ireland, a slight tip is always appreciated. But we stopped in and chatted with the folks at our renowned hotel and heard consistently this is absolutely not done here. A tip of any large amount is unheard of here. We were scammed. After considering all of this and the shady advertisers they payed for out on Shop St, we realize we have been duped by people of suspect character. Never waste your money here! read more

Most of the Italian restaurants in Galway were crowded and noisy on an evening in August and when we happened on Venice we were pleased to see the place was quiet and the menu had a mix of familiar and ambitious menu items. Fortunately, every dish was as good as could be hoped for. We tried salads, lasagna, spaghetti de Roma and the vegetarian spaghetti. Everyone was very pleased. read more
