This is the second time in three years I have eaten at Bar Ristorante Da Mario (inside the Marriott Courtyard Venice Airport), and I have to say, each time I have been pleasantly surprised.
I guess it is my own pre-conceived notion, but my sense is that hotel restaurants are generally overpriced, and food usually not very good.
Then there is Bar Ristorante Da Mario. The cost was reasonable, and the food and the service were really really good -- as good at any I have received in any ristorante in over over three weeks in Italy.
We returned to the Marriott Courtyard after a long day exploring Venice. The weather was miserably hot and humid (yea, mid 90s / 33c and 90-percent), and the group was wrung-out. We remembered how good the restaurant was last visit, and recommended to the group that we give it a try.
Two of our group ordered Caprese di Burrata salads (€10), which were as beautiful as they were tasty. Orders for Spaghetti Carbonara (€13) and Chitarra Cacio Pepe (€11) and Lasagne Bolognese (€13) were found to be equally delicious. Likewise, desserts: Cream Brûlée (€6), Orange and Chocolate Cannoli, Mandarin Gelato and a shot of Lemoncello (€6), and Chocolate soufflé (€6) were equally delicious. Service was spot on, and we could not been happier with our meals. I tried an Italian beer, Forst Premium (€7, 1.5 liter), which is a Euro Pale Lager style beer, without bitter aftertaste. Score!
I recommend Bar Ristorante Da Mario (and Forst Premium!) to all the road weary travelers out there. Four Stars.
