I took my 1966 Oldsmobile 442 to get a engine swap . First of all it went from $2500 plus $500 for parts he need to convert to a Chevy engine. The headers he put on he only put one gasket on the whole setup which is on the driver's side. The passenger side has no gasket neither do the back that hook up to the mufflers which is supposed to have one on each flow master. This business is crooked , I called him today and he straight up lied and said he had put gaskets on . I can't make this up people think that minorities don't understand business and attempt to over charge us .. my $3000 went to $4500 and on top of that when it was Time to pick it up he didn't have radiator fluid in it only water. Something told me to check and when I said something he tried to charge me for it ..,I had to have my car towed a few times to him and my house. I was charged for a flex that I had already on my car parts and labor also my car starter was missing like the flywheels had a notch missing. I towed it to him and he told me that it only needed a wedge . He tried to say that the starter he did not put one and I showed him receipts for I charged for a starter and labor than he said he forgot. I scheduled a routine service and between scheduling and arrival discovered an oil leak. This was a Wednesday,Asked to have that service fixed as well as the routine service when I arrived for appointment. Said to add 2 or 3 days to find and fix oil leak. Checked, in person on day 3 as I did not receive the estimate call I was told I would receive. 'Oh, can't work on it, you need to clean the engine and bring it back the following Monday". We did that. Arrived at opening time (understand that we had to rent a car for the 3 days of original service and for the new service that was to begin.) On MOnday: 'oh, I am behind 2 days, it is 'Hot August Night' celebration and an employee has days off" We, stupidly, figured: 3+2 days. Rented a car for a week. Still no estimate. Called Thursday afternoon: ' I was about to start looking for the leak'. This was now 7 days in his shop and nothing even started. Said we would pick up the car " Well, you have to pick up before noon because we are closing". Very poor business practice: no estimate, no contact.. No one should go to this shop!!! I've never had my car worked on here, but I've rented PENSKE trucks a few times and these people are super shady. I called to let them know I was running an hour late for drop off, the guy told me "no problem". I filled the gas tank before I returned the truck, but the needle was slightly below Full. The owner told me this truck was difficult to fill. He told me they could finish putting the last few gallons in for the same price as the gas station, so it wasn't worth me going back out to try and put more in. After I left, I noticed there was another debit from my checking account. Upon checking the contract, I saw that they charged me for 2 HOURS late fee when I was only an hour late. On top of that, they charged me for 4 gallons of gas at over $9.00 per gallon, not at all the price he had told me! I called Penske and they told me that it was not the first time they had heard this about DaCosta's, and had in fact received several complaints. I tried calling Derek 4 times and left 3 voicemails over the next few days.... but he refused to take my calls and never returned the message. I've been renting trucks for over 20 years and have never run into a scammer like this before. Fortunately Penske is a reputable company and was able to help make things right. I would highly recommend renting anywhere else but here, they will lie to your face and avoid you after they steal your money. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE ~ read more

While on one hand it was cool they said they could get me in if I could come right away. On the other hand not so much. I got there and advised I was approved for the CAP (Consumer Assistance Program) and my letter would expire on 7/27. They said I would have to leave the car for 2 weeks and have another car. I came home and called the Department of Consumer Affairs Bureau of Auto Repair and inquired. They said #1 the letter's expiration goes away once submitted to the shop and #2 that NO shop should hold a car for that long and urged strongly to shop around. They suggested going to a shop and get the diagnostic for failed repair and not mention the CAP until after finding repair costs. Avoid DaCosta's Auto World!!! read more

Extremely irritated, had my car taken here for a repair of the alternator was fixed in a timely manner however says it's open on Saturday from 9-1p no one is there at all I've left several voicemails for them to return my call if they were running late but I guess they open when they want. So now I have to wait until Monday to pay for an overpriced repair. read more

I had the best experience here . They do good work . My check engine light was on . I dropped it off in the morning. It was done and fixed by 3pm . If I ever need anything fixed on my truck I will definitely be bring it here from now on . read more

Stay away from this place, worst shop ever with newer cars. I'm talking newer than 1980. I took my car only because I broke down on the freeway in Fairfield and the tow truck took me there. The following business I went in the talk to the owner and told him I think the rod bearings went out. He started the car and said no its in the head. When he started working on the car I called and he was insistent that it was a valve guide. I told him to just pull the head. He said that would cast $200 to pull the head and I said okay. he also tried to charge me $300 when he was done. After the head was off he tells me there is nothing wrong with the head and it is the rod bearings. (like I said to start) I should have known the to take my car to another shop. Long story short I had to find a replacement engine. I was told to pick up the car but it would not idle and the computer should reset itself if not take to another shop to have it put on their computer. The other shop said "I hate to say this because Jason is my friend but this is the worst engine change I've ever seen" I took the car back to Dacosta's ran down all the problems, leaking oil, transmission cooling line not hooked up and so on. When I asked what do I do now how do I get to work 50 miles away I'm told by Derek the owner "that is not my problem". I'm called later and told they were finished. I went in the next morning and they had not hooked up the transmission cooling lines I had to wait 2 hours for a 15 minute job. What a surprise I'm leaking coolant because the lines are not connected correctly. Jason who worked on my car is lazy and has no clue what he is doing and I;m sure not a certified tech. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Inflated cost, very poor work, doing the bare minimum, and no clue on new cars. I see this going court if they don't pay another shop to fix my car. This last time, they didn't even put my car totally back together and set timing. Really!!! I am ashamed of my experience with these people. One thing after another. These people suck, I called on a thurs and spoke to a very rude lady because i wanted to replace the sparkplugs on my truck as well as a diagnostic testing she said to bring in my truck tomorrow before 9 am and ill have to leave it if i wanted my plugs replaced. I brought in my truck by 9am, i decided to just do the dyno testing which this same rude lady now says that i have to leave my truck for just the dyno testing which could take anywhere from 1-4 hrs so i left my truck. Almost 3 pm I decided to call because i havent heard anything and this rude lady said that they are still testing my truck , feeling real frustrated i asked when it will be done because it has already been 6 hrs and this rude lady replied" It'll be done before we close at 5pm just like i told you yesterday, and your dad just left from here too." My dad came home and told me that he checked on my truck and it was sitting in the parking lot just how i left it and spoke to the owner and the owner said that i can come and take my truck now if i want it because they have NOT started on it yet...this was almost 3pm. As i was on my way to just get my truck they had called me at almost 4pm( testing really took less than an hr) and said my truck was finished and that there was more things wrong then expected and quoted me almost $700 when they originally quoted $460...they are a rip off and suck im never having any auto repairs done here and to think, my bro inlaw referred me because he knew the owner!!! read more
