The best catfish I'd ever had was at Paula Dean's in Tennessee -- that is until I had this catfish. OMGGGG! Unreal. I love these hole-in-the-wall places like this that just make the best food. You'd never assume this would be the best meal I had all trip by looking at the pictures, but it certainly was. Fairly priced. Friendly staff. Super clean. 10/10 experience! My only complaint if I HAD to say something: I wish they had a house-made tartar sauce. The little packet they give you was lackluster. But otherwise incredible meal!!!!

But the counter service is quick and you won't have to wait long. The full-size po-boys are massive. If you get a Ferty (roast beef, ham, Swiss cheese), bring a construction crew to help you eat it, or be prepared to be eating leftovers for two or three days. I love a good shrimp po-boy, but it's usually too big for me. I have landed on the Shrimp on a bun as a fantastic alternative. It's so overstuffed with shrimp you can't eat it without them falling out. And it is perfectly dressed with just the right amount of lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayonnaise. And the fries! Y'all, the fries are so crispy and delicious, and they also come in a massive amount. Too many for one sitting. This is a place I regularly stop at for lunch when I am in this area.

I was not disappointed. The moment we pulled into the parking lot we were treated with vintage vw bugs. A very good omen. The menu is vast and it all sounded so wonderful. As we stood there pondering our choices I couldn't help but notice the cleanliness and the decide. But what instantly drew my attention was the food being handed out. No paper wrap. Now I am a patient person and I will wait for fresh hot food to be served. So I didn't notice the amount of time it took. But any wait at all would be well worth it. The food was delicious and took me back to my misspent youth. People I am telling you if you are looking for quality and quantity. This is the place for you. The cost was reasonable. The owners are friendly and patient. But the real reason to make the trip is the food. They are the leader in every category: cleanliness, ambience, quality, taste, customer service, and quirkiness. This place has been standing along time. I hope they stay around a whole lot longer. We will return.

Business was not busy around 6pm, there were a couple guests waiting in the dining room for their to-go order. We were met at the counter by an amazing cashier who greeted us, asked how we were doing and she had a smile that was warm and inviting. She noticed I was walking with crutches and kindly asked if I was OK too. As we were leaving the restaurant started picking up. The restaurant was not loud and was very well cleaned, not a crumb on any tables once we sat down to wait for our order. We chose to dine in, but they already packaged our order to-go which was great because it was easy to close up and head out when we had our fill. I would definitely take the drive out to LaPlace just to enjoy more of their menu again.

The chicken is always krunchy and fresh, I love the fried pickles and onions in between the tender meat, and it's a bargain for the amount of food - $4.99/stick. We've also had the mashed potatoes and gravy and a drumstick. Service is always quick and attentive at this location, and there's usually a special involved with purchase, so be sure to ask.
