It's a small place, has a buffet (on weekends I think) it was a week day it was menu only. Food came fast, hot and tasty. The flavors were great. The peanut broth was my favorite. It was medium spicy compared to buffalo wings, but I'd go hotter if I wasn't with my friend. The person behind the counter also helped with food prep and was happy to help make recommendations on what to try. We will be back. It's close to UB so it's easy to get to.

Chilled Jarritos, Coke products, and water bottles as beverages; the waiter came quickly and said it would take ten minutes for our order. It took six! The portions were enormous! In retrospect I should have ordered a small, but we didn't specify, and so received a large meal! I could have easily fed three people! The chef thoughtfully put the hot sauce on a side cup of my husband's meal. Like a royal poison taster he asked me to test it. I rated it a three; he gave it a seven...but he was raised in Minnesota. My chicken and rice were great! Loved the side of plantains! We'll be back!

Huge portion, flavorful food, and really kind service. The atmosphere was really nice too, jazz playing in the background made it feel cozy and relaxed. Everything had a nice level of spice and tasted fresh and well seasoned. I especially loved the chickpeas and the cabbage with carrots and potatoes, and the spinach balanced everything out perfectly. The doro wat with the chicken and egg was a nice touch too. Absolutely no complaints here. 10/10.

We ordered the combo plate with meat for $19.99, and it was just the right amount of food for two. Each bite was heavenly! The stewed greens had a kick to them; the doro wat (chicken in onion sauce) was richly caramelized; the lentils cooked perfectly. There are many booths and tables nearby for gatherings of all sizes. Paper lanterns hang overhead; the music veers from Cardi B to dancehall to 60's soul. On a Friday evening, I noticed there were far more single women than men.

The place is clean, spacious, plenty tables to sit. I just picked up some food to go. I did eat the pâté while waiting on my chicken and rice. It was a bit doughy but very flavorful and spicy. The juices are great. I should've taken some to go. The rice and beans with chicken were a hit as well. Glad to find a bit of home here. They also have a market of food and goodies to buy right next to the restaurant. This is definitely a little gem. Check them out.

The African pate tastes very similar to an alcapurria. A fritter stuffed with meat and fried. One man served us and we had to wait for him to clean up before ordering. Thankfully I ordered Yelp since it was a bit of a big order, unfortunately I never received a confirmation order, but I just seen our food sitting at the restaurant and asked if it was mine. It was....so we didn't have a long wait time, however the food had gotten cold. I tried to be strategic and ordered for 1:30, since my drive was 30 mins but it was still cold. Thankfully there were pates and sambusas in the hot case still warm, so we got those hot and fresh. The ambiance was a little lack luster. Not much decorum or music, but there is a smaller store on the other side of the restaurant. I didn't get a chance to check it out but next time. If it's two things you remember to try it's the Sorrel (Hibiscus) Juice and the Somali fish Sambusas. I would drive back for those two things alone. The sorrel juice is so flavorful and spicy from the ginger. Those two menu items alone are a 15/15
