the outside of a restaurant

Tony and I were in Morgantown, we were excited about trying out D. P. Dough. This was a first time for us. It's located on High Street beside Subway and across from Jimmy John's, which is a great location especially for the late night bar scene. Unfortunately hard for parking, but I lucked out and grabbed my go to spot (when in area) around on side street. Now I'm not sure if still due to Covid or from lack of staffing, but it was NOT A WELCOMING SITE...all the seats on top of tables and out of order signs on bathrooms and cable disconnected from wall mounted TVs...looks deserted, but I can imagine how nice it once was! Not now!!! Only one employee! Now this is one of those opens at 4pm and stays open very late to 3am. They even advertise "Delivering Crazy Late". There was a hiring delivery drivers sign awkwardly written on chalkboard behind counter. To be truthful, I would normally walk away from all this Negative space BUT I really wanted to try...we love Calzones! Tony and I read the overhead menu board. I told the employee (very helpful and pleasant)we were newbies. He showed us the size of the Calzones and we debated one or two...we opted on 2..he chose the Mountaineer Zone add Banana Peppers and put marinara sauce inside. I opted for the Italian Zone add Banana Peppers and marinara sauce on side. It was only a 10 minute wait and the total was $20.50 Tony went out to smoke while I waited. He brought me the package once completed and we left. Street meter parking was only $1 for one hour. We went back to our home away from home, La Quinta Inn and Suites. Tony went for Ice while I separated the Calzones. We had decided to split them so we could try 2 different zones. Okay, trying to be positive but they looked horrible. The dough was very thin. I've never had such a thin Zone before (but never had theirs before). There wasn't much toppings inside...barely any cheese and I paid extra for Tony's to have sauce inside which it didn't...thank goodness we had some on the side so Tony could add himself. Mine was supposed to have Ricotta cheese added to Mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses and there was NONE. Barely any mozzarella. The dipping marinara sauce was watered down and barely any pepperoni or other meats in there. I felt like I paid WAY TO MUCH for this extremely disappointing much anticipated Calzone Dinner. I will NOT do this again...we left over half untouched in both boxes....ended up pulling out toppings to try and eat. This poorly constructed very thin Calzone bread was even burnt and hard....very disappointed!! I am only sharing our experience and my opinion on this restaurant. Hopefully your experience is much better than ours! Personally won't return!!

A kind of Calzone heaven... I thought my calzone was delicious! It was softer than it looked and nice and tender, cheesy and gooey on the inside. I wouldn't say the service was outstanding, and it kind of took a while for our food to be ready but I do understand it takes longer to cook calzones if you actually do it right, so respect to that. To be honest, the restaurant itself seemed kind of dirty to me, even besides the whole covid thing, like the hygiene and classy-ness of the restaurant was definitely lowered, it kind of seemed like no one there cared to make the place look present and in good shape. But hey, great calzones! They are also open into the early morning hours which can definitely be clutch as a giant university is just up the road.

This is a college town and this is a food place with pretty large, greasy food delivered until 3am. I am pretty sure thats the reason this place is still in business. My husband and I went in here to eat and its absolutely filthy. The floors, seats, tables and bathrooms were all grimy. We still placed an order against our better judgement. The counter person wasnt aware of the Yelp free fountain drink with check in and neither was the person they called for help. They were also the least friendly service people I have encountered in Morgantown with the exception of Wings Ole. Our two calzones, an Italian and a spinach one I forget the name of, came out about 15 minutes later. We had also ordered cheese and bacon tots. It was all delivered in a to go bag and three to go boxes. Weird as we were dining in but whatever; thats the restaurant wasting their money and I dont have to ask for a to go container. The calzones are decent size and they arent terrible. They are just ok. Im sure if youre ass is wasted at 2am this is what you want. Loads of carbs, salt and cheese. At this time your flavor discretion is out the window. Mine wasnt and these calzones just lacked freshness and overall flavor. The tots were just bad. Burnt cheese stuck to the aluminum foil in the box it was served in. Half burnt, half undercooked bacon. Just no. If youre drunk as hell and want a big ole mess of cheesy bread delivered to you this is a good option. If you have taste buds and plan on eating here I suggest steering clear.

Italian calzone. Not very tasty at all.

Been wanting to try this place so we finally came for lunch. First off the bathroom was gross. The restaurant was pretty clean tho. Ordered the Italian calzone and tots. The guy didn't understand you get a free drink with yelp check in. So that was a huge hassle. I guess they don't know about yelp here even tho u get a free drink with check in lol. The food took about 15 mins. The tots were pretty good. The calzone was not that good. Bland tasting. The marinara sauce also lacked flavor. This place might be good for drunk college kids but I'll pass.

Italian Zone (replacing ham with sausage)

This place was completely dead at 11:30 on a Friday night...somehow I expect business picks up around bar closing time as patrons' priorities shift from PBR and Jack Daniels to cheese and pepperoni. Anyway, I ordered an Italian Zone and my girlfriend ordered a Chef Salad. We were allowed to switch the calzone's ham for sausage, which was a nice accommodation. The calzone was satisfactory but definitely nothing special...just about what I would expect from a place that clearly caters to drunk college kids. I certainly had no trouble scarfing down the whole thing, but how can you really mess up a calzone? My girlfriend wasn't impressed with the salad, which (shockingly) didn't seem to have the freshest ingredients. I mean, we had low expectations, but we still hoped the lettuce would be...well, greener. We probably would have enjoyed the food better ten years ago after a night of beer pong and shots.

The Mac Daddy 'Zone= macaroni and cheese, bacon, cheddar
Allie J.

In our long weekend in Morgantown, my fiancé had to take me to some of his favorite places to eat. After all, what's a trip to the old stomping grounds without your favorite grub? We went to D.P. Dough following some drinks at the Sports Page and split a Mac Daddy Zone. The Mac Daddy is stuffed with macaroni and cheese, bacon and cheddar. Two of my guilty pleasures are cheese and carbs, and this was the perfect balance of cheesy macaroni goodness encased in a bread vessel. The 'zone was to die for and the sauce it cane with was excellent. 10/10 would recommend to anyone in Mo'town and I'll definitely be back on my next trip!

Ordered garlic sticks at 2:30am. They were watching the office. No complaints. Best garlic sticks of my life.

Great food and not a bad price. The menu has become more diverse, but so have the prices. The perfect place for something simple.

Love, love, love D.P. Dough. Always order the Danger Zone. The only complaint I have is that their delivery times can be a little long.

Food is always hot and fresh! They are pretty quick and reasonably priced. They're one of those cool hole in the wall type places.

Pretzel to pair with it could have been better/fresher, and I did not enjoy their tacos, though it was only $1 for their special. I tried my friends buffalo chicken waffle fries and they were great. My friends enjoyed their wings, though they said there could have been more meat on them. The burger was very dry & the regular loaded fries were a bit burnt. It your typical bar/restaurant with low lit lighting and different montage of WVU, license plate, beer signs decor. They also have a back patio. Service was good, though I think they could have used another waiter/waitress on a busy night like trivia.

We had a couple beers and soda for me (designated driver). Highly recommend!! We only had a few drinks because we ate earlier.
