It seemed super local with several different shopping opportunities and a few choices to grab a snack or beverage. The plant store/art gallery was probably my favorite shop, a very eclectic collection of plants, finished art pieces and craft supplies/kits. We browsed in that one for quite awhile! The candy store offered a great selection of chocolate sweets and the gal was super sweet. We also met a wonderful gal at the Battle Crest tasting room with great stories of the distilleries history and the owners passion for spirits. It was a super quiet evening, not many other visitors so we pretty much had the place to ourselves, not sure that's a good thing! Other than the candy shop and distillery, the shop keepers were pretty much checked out, we didn't get greeted, welcomed or even smiled at... that was weird! Maybe when it's bustling they're more inviting and friendly but the night we were there they were definitely not in the mood for customers! It's a great market with an even better location and on a warm sunny day it'd be the perfect place to spend the afternoon.

I asked someone that worked in one of the stores inside and she kind of indicated the same thing that the market was built practically "overnight ". I believe it's been Herr just shy of a year now and I just made the stop recently. There are two stories here with the idea I would think for merchants to be on both levels. The second floor is empty practically and the first floor is mostly full with merchants but a space or two remains. A distillery, winery, coffee shop, candy shop and art gallery is the type of merchants that are in here currently. This market is right next to McMenamins Kalama Lodge so guests that stay there now have an additional activity to look forward to by visiting this market. Very nice building and location. I just hope more merchants come for this public market so it can really get full and bustling!

It was…read morenearly impossible to reach Danielle in the 2 months leading up to the day, and when she finally responded (after ignoring us multiple times and for multiple weeks) we heard many excuses. She was so unresponsive that we had backup plans in case she didn't show up on the day. My last payment went missing on her end and took over a week for her to find. I had to ask her at least 4 times to update our contract. I have emails stating there was no oven on sight, but she showed up with uncooked food expecting an oven. The venue manager came to the rescue and let us use the oven in her apartment on site. This issue resulted in food being served late. My friends and family who helped set up décor at the venue heard her and her staff complaining about the space (it was a very small venue). I called her the night before to ensure she had everything she needed. She did not answer the phone, and then texted me the morning of my wedding day asking if I had cups. As part of our contract we paid for real glassware which apparently she forgot. Instead she had to run out and get plastic disposable. I will say that the food was pretty good, and she gave me a handful of tasty menu options in my budget. She was thorough helping me with a cocktail menu and how much alcohol to buy, and even brought a mixer that she already had on hand for one of the drinks (she sub contracted the bartender).

Her poor business managment skills, lack of communication, and ability to make up an excuse for every issue is just the start. It was so bad working with Danielle and this company that we were reaching out to other catering companies days before our wedding in an effort to ensure we were going to have food. Below is a few of the issues we had with this business for our August 2022 wedding. - Zero communication after paying deposit. - Excuse for every issue in not being able to communicate. - 30 min late arriving to venue for wedding - They forgot knives for our 200 guests - Ran out of drink cups that they were supplying within 5 minutes of serving - Half the staff that was promised - They forgot table runners - Unprofessional staff Saving the best for last.... We had 40 people that DID NOT eat. We were notified the morning of the wedding that guests would need to serve themselves for everything but meat, that was not our original plan. The sides ran out so quickly and the meat was not served to 40 people. We paid for 220 people. Called Danielle multiple times the week before to let her know that we would be more around 200. (Trying to be courteous) We had 194 folks show up and still they still ran out. At the end of the day, save yourself the awful experience my wife and I had to go through and find someone else to cater your event.

I was pleasantly surprised to see one in Kalama as my in laws live up the road. My experience at this one was really off. I ordered the 20 oz Mayan Mocha with almond milk and they wanted ~$8.5 for it. The sign said $6 for a 20oz. I asked how it came out to that. She said almond milk was .85 cents I was like okay then it should be like $7 with taxes. She said the signs are old and it was ringing up ~7.65 for a 20 oz then .85 for the almond milk. I asked how much was the 16 oz, she said ~$6.45 with taxes for the order then when I went to pay said it was like $7.25. I really don't get the extra charge for the milk alternative either. Milk and almond milk are comparable in price. It's about $4.5 a gallon. Starbucks started to charge one single price regardless of milk option/alternative. I left without coffee this day. I don't think I've ever done that. Warning to customers, watch and be cognizant of what they actually charge you per drink. Pricing is mysterious. I don't like being baited and switched in price.

Wonderful coffee/espresso taste, amazing drinks, and I do love those HUGE egg bites they call strata. This has replaced my favorite coffee stop, which used to be Paper Tiger. Such great taste, and such wonderful humanity.
