These guys all focus on cultivating the player's strengths, working on the player's weaknesses in a calm manner, cultivating the love of baseball, while raising the bar and transforming these young players into competitive athletes! Additionally, the communication between management, coaches and parents completely open and transparent.

They took the old defunct Extra Innings Woburn and renovated the space with new cages, indoor turf and lighting. The facility is extremely well lit, which is a major plus, as many of the indoor baseball businesses in the area have poor lighting. It is easy to book tunnel time online and their rates are competitive. The owners take a no frills approach to the business. There is no pro shop or vending machines to speak of. The owners love of the game is apparent in everything they do, from running the center to coaching kids in their AAU program. They also feature many quality instructors with impressive credentials. The A's proprietors, Brian and Scott Blumsack also run an AAU program out of the Woburn location. There are 7 teams from 10u to 18u. The program started 2 years ago in this location. They play in highly competitive tournaments throughout the summer and are very involved in the development of their players. If your child has the talent, they can help them get to the next level.

Back then, they stupidly had a huge men's locker room on one floor, and a similarly huge boys' locker room on another floor---and I'm assuming, ditto for a women's and a girls' LR. In other words, huge waste of space, since all the actual workout space was crammed into a claustrophobic cellar space with low 8ft ceilings, and the equipment was pretty old and fairly rickety. NOW, however, they've combined the locker rooms and have a palatial high ceilinged 2nd floor workout space with excellent and all new equipment including something I had never seen in a Y before: Concept ski ergs! (Google it if you have no idea what I'm talking about.) Said equipment is not all that intelligently laid out, though---but compared to how it used to be, no complaints here! Locker room looks pretty much the same but the showers and restroom are nicely redone. Not so crazy about their cardio equipment, though. All their stationary bikes are the geriatric recumbent ones, with only one ancient Keiser on the floor. They have Precor treadmills and ellipticals that have nice big screens with the wonderful "interactive terrains" similar to Life Fitness's current models found at other Ys---but unlike the LF machines, these Precor machines' video screens are buggy as hell, constantly freezing up and having to be reset within 15 minutes of starting your workout! Also, the one and only (coed) sauna they have, while being brand new and beautiful, sitting right next to the pool, BUT---is uselessly weak. Even on the highest settings, it feels like it only gets to maybe 160F tops. Nothing like the Cambridge Y's sauna which is around a divine 200F, or the Malden Y and Waltham Y's saunas which are closer to a still-passable 180F. I suppose it's meant more for people who just want to dry out after swimming, not for anyone who wants to really SWEAT, which is the whole purpose of a sauna. A good thing about this Y is that it's one of the all too few that stays open until 9pm on Fridays. Sadly, on Saturdays and Sundays they close at a lousy 4pm, just like the Cambridge Y.

She was at the front desk when I called at around 3. I had called to schedule a tennis court appointment for Monday and she said that non-members can only schedule a court the same day. I booked 2 courts in the last couple of weeks, paid 60 for one hour each because I am a non member, and have already played there booking 2 days in advance MULTIPLE TIMES. I told her I have already played there, and she said that it was not true, and said whoever let me do that shouldn't have in the rudest street-like manner. However before I was told by others from the front that we could book 2 days in advance to do that and I did! Then she screamed at me, telling me that "we put members first!", and I told her that all types of members count and that she is discriminating against me. She then rudely said she didn't have time to speak with me since there were members there and loudly hung the phone up on my face, she acting like a child. Someone with a bad attitude and a short fuse should not be working since they can't treat customers right. I am your clientele WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. Period. If you don't respect your non-members, then why don't you give me back what I paid??? Exactly.... I called again quickly and she said again this is Rhonda and I asked her if this is Rhonda. She then denied this was Rhonda though she obviously is. (What a joke) I also asked for the manager and she said there is no manager other than her. I'm not stupid, she is acting like condescending trash. She then started yelling at me again. I was the wrong person to be on the other side of this exchange. She should absolutely be reprimanded for treating non-members like this!!!!!!! I reached out to both the general and assistant general managers. If you are not currently part of this club, DO NOT SIGN UP. They treat people badly like this, but gladly take your money for rentals. You are in customer service when you work at a desk, ACT LIKE IT. ALL CUSTOMERS are king, not just some!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love RockSpot! I joined when they first opened because I live in the apartment building nearby…read more It's such a nice facility and the routes are always challenging. The staff is super friendly and they offered new members a free lesson which was very helpful! I've had multiple friends come in with a guest pass to use the facility and they love it too! The community is awesome as well. I'm not an expert climber and can only make it in a few times a month but have a great time every time I go! They change the walls every Thursday on a rolling basis around the gym. Theres also gym equipment available - treadmill, elliptical, bike, squat rack rig + barbell, and of course lots of bars to hang from. They also have the electric routes (I'm not a climber so I don't know the actual name!) where you can set routes on an app and the holds will light up on the wall. There's lots of street parking around the gym. Malden center has lots of food and other activities around so if you make the trip out to rockspot you can make a whole day of it with lunch and dinner too!
