I called D & R Roofing and he came over and gave me an estimate on a roofing project. The estimate seemed fair so I agreed to proceed with the project. He gave me a start date which was one month away and said it was his first availability. I agreed. He said he would order the materials. I called two weeks before the start date and left a message saying that I was going to be out of town and unavailable the week before the project start date, but that I wanted to proceed with the project. However, when the start date arrived, I waited but he never showed. I called and he said that he was working on another project. He suggested several other dates in the future. I selected another date. I then called a few days before to confirm the date. He called back the day before the new start date and indicated that he would not be able to come and that he had not even ordered the materials for the project. When I suggested that he had plenty of time to obtain the materials, he tried to make excuses saying he didn't receive a down payment for materials. I reminded him that he never asked for any down payment and if he had, I would have written him a check. He then became very rude, he said "well I guess this ain't gonna happen" and he hung up on me. If he was too busy or did not want to do the job he should have said so. Agreeing to do the work and then not showing up (twice) is no way to run a business. read more
