***READ CAREFULLY : OWNER FRAUD AND THEFT*** I hate to write something like this, but ethically I feel those choosing this store need to be made aware of where they are spending their time and money. I attended the Tame Impala Deadbeat listening party. At this event it was advertised that there would be a contest to win one of two signed test pressing of the record. During the listening portion of the event, I saw Jody walk over to a young man with his mother sitting near me and ask him to go outside. Through the window I saw Jody ask him to take out his raffle ticket and show her the number. Which he did. At this point I became very suspicious about what was going on. Why would the employee ask a customer for their thicket number to a raffle outside away from everyone? You can see in my text message to a friend of my concern for what I saw between Jody and man in green shirt outside looking at ticket stub . Upon the conclusion of the listening party they gathered up everyone to pull names out of a bucket to see the winning raffle ticket. **WATCH VIDEO** With my concern, I decided to video record Jody pulling the raffle ticket to make sure everything was legitimate. YOU CAN SEE CLEARLY IN THE VIDEO JODY PALMING THE WINNING TICKET. The young man in the green shirt won the record and quickly left the store before everyone else. Jody instantly stepped outside saying her car windows were down and she had to close them. I went outside and asked the young man and his mother why they rigged the raffle. The mother was adamant she and her son knew nothing about it and it didn't happen. To which I showed them the video and the mother replied she was not aware that happened. The young man simply stated he didn't know why she asked him for his ticket number outside. I then confronted Jody as she walked back into the store. She denied it happened. I made it very clear that I had video proof she committed fraud. She simply told me "okay. That's all I'm willing to say." I asked again for her to just please be honest as it was unfair to the dozen other people that gave up their time to attend this event thinking it was a fair contest. Jody looked at me and stated, "Yes, I did it." All I can say to anyone looking to shop here... if you value honest quality business I would think twice. What Jody did is fraud and subject to theft. With the value of this record being close to $2,000 to rig a raffle is criminal and she should be reported to the police. I'm sorry I have to write this... read more

I have been to many record stores and this store is the best of the best. The two wonderful women that own the store are super. Daniele and Jodi are awesome. Store is loaded with terrific merchandise. I am a Grateful Dead guy and I bought 5 albums and a couple of CDs. These were items I had never seen in other stores. The store itself is so much fun. Decorated to the max and every corner hides a treasure. D and J are lovely to deal with and accommodating. They offer to order things and send to you and go out of their way to help. If you like supporting a local small business this is the one. Stop by and say the Grateful Dead guy told you to stop in and buy some cool vinyl, CDs etc. read more

My husband and I decided to go to D & J records to find some cassette tapes. We were directed to where the tapes were. There were several trays of cassettes sitting on top of the vinyl records, with some on the floor as well. We started to look; we found several cassettes we wanted to purchase. Out of nowhere this woman began cussing at me and my husband about the cassettes that were on top of the vinyl records (there were trays already on the records!). She proceeded to talk about us to another patron, as if we were not 15 feet away. I walked out leaving my husband there. She got the message........ He purchased what he had in hand. We would have bought more cassettes, if not for her bad behavior. When she rang him up, she apologized up and down. Needless to say, we won't EVER go back. Known about this place for a bit but have our usual spots to go vinyl hunting. Hit this store as it was close and oh my...I'm in trouble! Was there quite a while and could come back for much more. Think we could spend hours in here. This honestly will be my go to local record shop. The better half and I got a mix of old/used & new (repressings). Next time I'll bring cash as they do have a 3% charge on plastic payments. read more

I am a buyer that literally spends hundreds a week at record stores. I've been in thousands of record stores across the country--some good, some bad. This one ranks near the bottom--mostly due to the attitude and behavior of one of the owners. There is one owner Danielle that is pleasant but her partner Jody (the "J" in D&J) is rude and condescending. The store is somewhat disorganized and as an example they have thousands of unsorted 45s under a table near the front. When I got down on the floor to go through them--the dirty floor mind you--Jody started yelling at me and said "you can't sit there and be in the way of other customers blocking the aisle!" (at the time there was literally one other person in the store on the other side of the room). The other customer recognized that she was being an idiot and said "he's fine there" but Jody continued berating me anyway. She insisted I cart an entire 45 box over to the another section of the store to look through them. When I set the box on an empty stool in front of me she said "you can't put them there!" When I asked where I should put them she said "on the floor" which is exactly where I started. When other customers came in she launched into her whole life story including that "people say I'm crazy", insisting that she give them an entire tour of the store (which lasted 15+ minutes) and ending with shoving a bag of her daughter's ground dog-themed coffee in people's faces urging them to "smell it!!" The entire store got to hear about her daughter on a personal level also. It was clear that other customers were put off by all of this but tried being understanding. At some point though the tolerance wore off and people started heading for the exits. I chalked this up to she hadn't taken her meds that day but the phone rang with someone asking if they had an album in stock. She went over to the racks looking for it and by the time she got back to the phone the person had hung up. Jody started talking into the phone but when she realized the person had hung up she said "well f*ck you then!" loud enough for everyone in the store to hear it. She swore many times and it clearly made people uncomfortable including saying her middle name was "f*ck" in one of her rants. My tolerance level is pretty high so I came back the next day and she treated me like a criminal saying "oh YOU again!" even though I had spend $50 the day before--more than anyone else that had been in the store the 2 hours I was there. She clearly has no interpersonal skills and honestly has no business running a store. Top that with the fact that they were trying to sell an RSD title for $52 when there are dozens of them on Ebay for around $40 and it just adds to what a shitty store this is. They have a wall of CDs--many of which wouldn't sell for $1 at Goodwill but they are all $5. This store isn't going to last more than a year I guarantee it since nearly everything is overpriced and it's run by people who treat customers like dirt. read more
