HORRIBLE customer relations. Especially from Tim. Needed minor repairs and 3 fenders assembled on my brand new tricycle. IF YOU HAVEN'T PURCHASED YOUR BIKE FROM THEM DON'T GO TO THEM !! They really don't care if it isn't theirs. They charged me over $250.00. I mentioned to Tim that was ridiculously overpriced he said "we're the cheapest and best bike repair shop in town". I took the bike home and as soon as I rode it 2 bolts FELL OFF the "repaired" fenders. So much for "cheapest and best". This place is not worth your aggravation. Go elsewhere. It's nice to have a local bike shop again! Now that it's winter, I'm setting my bike up with a trainer in my basement so that I don't have to buy a peloton, and I can still ride when it's cold. These guys got me all set up with a trainer tire, and some new cleats for my new bike shoes. It was quick and easy- they asked me a few questions, found me what I needed, and I was on my way! Customer service was excellent. I'm happy that this place is so close to home. I will be coming back here for any future bike needs. Highly recommend. read more

In the midst of COVID apocalypse I decided to get a bike since I could not go to the gym anymore. They had the brand I was looking for and while it was difficult for them to get to the phone (they were REALLY slammed) they responded to questions via email pretty quickly! I had an idea what I wanted and had to wait in line but was able to sit on the bike and check it out. Unfortunately they didn't have exactly what I wanted but it was transferred from another store and I had it in a week. They take care of maintenance for three years included in price of bike. Great bike store with the BEST prices in town, they even beat the online store prices!! The staff is super helpful and friendly. I've bought bikes and had them serviced here for years. Their selection of bikes is first rate as well as their selection of clothing and accessories. They also give you free adjustments on bikes you buy from them for 3 years. Don't buy a bike from anywhere else without checking them out as well. It's nice to support a brick and mortar store that competes, and beats, the others!! read more

When my bike's front tire went flat just before I wanted to go for a ride, I was in search of a place who could fix my bike quickly and cheaply. I came to D & D and was not disappointed. The service men were great! They fixed my bike in 15 minutes and it didn't break the bank. They also offered advice on bike racks and bike maintenance. They have a huge supply of bikes, helmets, and other bike accessories, but they are a little pricey. Stop in and see for yourself! read more

Horrible customer service. Tried calling many times, only goes to voice mail, leave a message asking for a call back and you will not receive one. Why I showed up - Wanted 2 bikes/repaired tuned up. During pandemic, had to wait in line outside. Fine, makes total sense, be safe. Waited in line for over an hour (3 people in front of me) to be told they only repair bikes bought from them!!!. Since I could not talk to anyone on the phone and this is not stated on their website, I was left to waiting in line....... Seems simple enough to me, COMMUNICATE with your customers!!! Pick up a phone, update a website, talk to your customers waiting in line to set expectations. Business 101 stuff guys.....you can do better D & D. Hmm, I bought a Giant Seek 3 there last week and both of the guys there were very friendly and accommodating. So far, my experience has been very positive which made me all the more surprised to see all of these negative reviews. I'm going back because my bike was supposed to come with a bell but it didn't. BEST BIKE SHOP!!! I would give them 6 stars if it were available. Last year I bought a Trek from the D&D in Northville. I did not find them to be friendly..and they cut my kickstand so short it was basically useless. But I just got back from D&D Berkley and what a world of difference!!! Fixed my flat tire (which I came for), and then proceeded to fix/adjust my brakes and gears FOR FREE. They were super friendly and glad to answer any questions I had. They even let me come in the back where they were fixing my bike to ask questions. I was out the door in 15 minutes free of charge. Bike runs better today than the day I got it from DD Northville. I purchased a Trek last year spent $550, my seat completely broke off. I took my bike into the Berkley location thinking it is still under warranty, was told they know longer sell Trek, know longer had my information in the system because they changed systems and removed Trek information. I asked the cost, the older gentleman tried his best to help, but could not find the part to order that I would have to pay for. He asked Devin for help who evidently knew how to find the part, and was asked if he would help me and he would help the other customer he said no. I had already been there about 20 minutes. Devin was the person that sold me the bike less than a year ago, and at that time very helpful but now he was rude, he wore no mask which I thought was required for all business. Very disappointed in the service, I also spent $400 on a bike rack last year nothing but problems. read more

Go elsewhere !!!!! This place could not be worse. Took my bike in to swap some parts. 7 weeks I left it there, never was touched. THEY NEVER CALLED ME. I called them and got the requisite " we will call you when ready....need to order parts.... I finally tapped out, went to pick it up and asked for the manager. It was some young girl who admittedly knew nothing about those bikes. I finally ordered a bottom bracket and headset bearing from Performance and installed them in the back of my work van. I feel like such an idiot for going to this place. The (mechanic ?) made me feel like a piece of shit for asking if he could get to work on my bike. He should be terminated today. Along with the manager. They are just way too cool for competitive commerce. I am a hockey player and triathlete, a customer right in their demographic. And they completely blew me off. COMPLETELY. HINT: You could have saved a customer for as little as a water bottle or even a skate sharpening coupon in recompense for the misery you caused. I really wanted to like this place. Here's a little back story... Bought some bar tape a couple months ago, and had to wait kind of long till somebody could help me. They gave me 10% off which was nice, but still, they seem really understaffed... Now, I was in a bike-on-bike collision about a month back but was able to ride away from the accident just fine. A few weeks later, I noticed my bike was riding strangely, so I decided to take it into D&D since they were kind of close to my house. The guy who originally took care of me in the service department seemed very friendly and knowledgeable. I told him to schedule a tune-up (hadn't dont one in a while anyway) (priced at $69) and pay close attention to anything that might be wrong from the collision. He said they would call me on Monday (I took it in on Friday). Monday rolled around and I ended up calling them around 6 (they close at 8) to see what was up. The guy was kind of confusing but basically was saying he hadn't done any work on it yet but he could have it for me in like an hour. Weird. He called me back to tell me that he found a whole bunch of damage with axels, the headset, bearings, etc. and that a "conservative estimate" for repair would be at LEAST $350. I told him not to do the tune-up and I would just come take my bike back. When I got there to take my bike, I had to wait at least 10 minutes while some know-nothing kid went to get my bike - the bike that I could see hanging up in the service area from where I was standing. He ran upstairs for some reason, then came back and bothered the one technician about where the bike was. "Where's this bike?" he asked. "What kind is it?" asked the tech. "It doesn't say..." "It's not on the receipt?" "No..." the kid said. It was clearly printed on the receipt I had handed him over 5 minutes ago. Eventually the kid figured out the bike was hanging right behind him. He had quite a hard time getting it off the hooks and bumped it into the bikes hanging on either side. He gave it to me and as I went to walk out, he said, "Oh I think you owe $69..." "No," I said, "they didn't service it." "Hold on..." he said, and asked the tech again. "IT SAYS NO SERVICE!" The tech replied angrily. What a fun time! I asked a friend what I should do, and he recommended I take it to Cycle Works in Clawson on 14 mile. They looked it over and found NOTHING broken or bent, just a few things out of alignment - things covered by their basic $50 tune-up. Wow. At first I felt bad for the guys at D&D for seeming so short-staffed. But now I just feel bad for anybody who gets suckered by them. read more

My son dropped off his bike 3 weeks ago for the brakes to be fixed. He was told it should be ready in about a week. 3 weeks later, my son called to find out what the status of his bike repair was. Apparently the kid that took my son's information entered his phone number incorrectly in the computer and put the service order in the wrong place. So after a few minutes of searching for the information and his bike, they found it. Ray said they would have it ready in a few hours. I called back 3 hours later and found out the bike was ready. It is bothersome why a bike would be sitting around the shop for 3 weeks and no one questions why. Not sure if this guy Ray is an employee or owner, but I was not impressed by him at all. He was very frassled and un-organized. As I was leaving, he faintly apologized under his breathe with my back to him as I was walking out the door. Would have meant more if Ray could have owned up to all the mistakes & looked directly at me with an apology. Will never go back!! read more

TERRIBLE! I took my new bike in (less than a month old) to have the back tire fixed ( losing air ). When I pick it up the tech asks me about my pedals... OK, whatever. The tire is fixed... Until I test ride it and the PEDAL FALLS OFF! how the heck do you fill a back tire and break off the pedal?!? Don't even ask about the run-around BS it is taking to get them to FIX their mistake! Won't ever set foot in there again... The WORST. read more

Took my bike in to have a little work done on it. The bike is nothing special...just an aluminum Diamondback from a big box store, in good condition overall. The guy at the repair counter looks at it and says, "I hope someone gave this to you and you didn't spend any money on it. What you got here is a Buick, and I sell Maseratis." That was all I needed to hear from him. Put my bike back on my car rack and drove it 8 miles to another shop, where they were very professional and helpful. read more

This shop is close to my house and I tried to use it to tune-up my wife's and mine bikes. I needed them to true rear wheels on both bikes. My bike takes a bit of abuse since i take it to different mountain bike trails in the area. My wife rides hers only at the metro parks on the paved trails (different level of use and abuse). I tend to do basic repairs/replacements on my own and I have basic understanding of the "technology" involved... After a few days "in service" they returned my wheels back saying that they cannot be trued anymore and i need to buy new wheel-sets with tires from them immediately (otherwise some serious accident may happen when i/my wife ride our bikes next time)... they told me that they have done everything that be done to extend life of those poor wheels for another month or so. Their truing specialist tightened spokes on the cassette side and loosened the ones on the opposite side. When I installed those wheels back on my bikes, sure thing, they were so bent that there were not turning at all touching bikes frame way too much. I had no choice but to take my bikes to the shop to show them that they don't know how to true the wheels. They fixed the problem somewhat, but still were telling me that my wheels are bad and I need to buy new ones from them. I would understand if that would be the case on my bike that I take off-road, but my wife rides hers on the local metroparks' paved trails not abusing the wheels/tires. I had to take both bikes to dick's sports goods for the follow-up service (my wife's bike has a warranty from dick's). Their mechanics are not pros as those at d&d, but they trued both wheels with no hassle within 24 hours and did not give me a story about need for new $170 wheel sets... In short, D&D must be hurting these days and try to make extra cash any way possible (truing is $15 and 5 minutes of work, while upgraded wheel sets are 10 times more). When I told the story to one of the guys I ride with, he told me that D&D's sales guys tried to sell him a bike he ordered through them with switched (downgraded) components on it. When he pointed out the differences compared to what he ordered through them, they told him that the bike he was getting is the last year model with manufacturer putting "old" components on it (not as described in the catalogue)... In short, stay away from them - they will go away eventually since I doubt many customers come back to them after this kind of service... read more
