The second time I went (Oct 2024), a 'tech' did the refraction evaluation (read the chart) and put in the eye drops to dilate my eyes. The doc came in, spent 10 minutes with me, and the charge to BCBS (which I have a vision plan for), was $485 PLUS they charged me $65 to do the refraction eval. Neither Medicare or BCBS with EyeMed coverage covered the $65. Never have I had to pay for an annual through insurance. It's ridiculous and exhausting, and expensive. If you're worried about the cost of eggs, worry instead about the ridiculous charges from doctors of all kinds. Based on other reviews, I'm going to find myself another group to go to.

Dr. Gabriella seemed cold and annoyed that the prescription she prescribed me was not the most accurate. I thought they were too strong and we had to go down a level. She seemed like she was in a rush and trying to get me out the door even though she mentioned it was a quiet day. In addition, she didn't seem to want to answer my questions and when she did, it felt condescending. Since the lenses were too strong, they needed to order new lenses for me to try. I am traveling for work the next week, and I have mentioned this to them because I requested for a weeks worth of lenses to bring to work. Dr. Gabriella did not want to give me the lenses she ordered and her reasoning wasn't because it was the wrong level but because she "couldn't give it out because it is just for the office". One of the front desk works was very nice and called another office to see if they have spares for me. This was bizarre to me because why can one office give lenses out but another can't? I really had high hopes for this place. So the second visit was disappointing. I hope it gets better.

Dr. Karalekas is an excellent listener and has a great "bedside manner". Her office staff and assistants are also very caring and attentive. Dr. Karalekas does have a busy practice but wait times are not excessive. But more importantly her staff is attentive and makes sure that they go out of their way to pay attention to you during wait times. My wife has also become a patient of the Dr. She has had cataract surgery in both eyes this year. Both procedures were very successful and she is quite pleased with the results. I would recommend Dr. Karalekas to anyone in need of such care. One final note; the previous Dr. that I became disenchanted with had his practice in Worcester, a much closer drive then Dr. Karalekas' Marlboro office. However, Dr. Karalekas also has a satellite office in Worcester, which I can usually use. However, I do not hesitate to travel to Marlboro when needed because her services are well worth the additional travel.

The most recent of which within the last week and with all the Covid-19 guidelines variations this office is acting like it's 2021! Maybe they need to realize Covid-19 has now evolved into just a bad cold. They need to read the current CDC guidelines or shut down the practice because the money grabbing doctors here suck and are so behind the times. I waited in the office alone with my mask off because I was alone in the room with a closed door, the doctor walked in and said "please leave your mask on and I'll be back in 10 minutes when it's safer to be in here" or something to that affect like are you F-ing kidding me! Looking for new doctor. I highly recommend you don't visit this office.

On Friday 7/8 I called about a clause on this offices' instructions to the patient that suggests they bring someone with them - anyone they know- to help them understand the consent to surgery forms they're going to sign. If the patient doesn't understand what they're consenting to by definition they cannot consent and whoever that is the patient brings cannot consent unless they are legally empowered to do so by the state. The office manager Amy decided to phone the patient at 8:30am on the 11th to cancel the appointment he had at 2pm that day. Then yesterday she called again and cancelled all his appointments. So I called Medicare fraud about 45 minutes ago and explained all this. They're opening an investigation. They also suggested I call the attorney general for Mass. Gonna do that now. Way to go officer manager Amy. They're your offices'instructions. Not mine. I didn't write them I just asked the people who did to explain the instructions Amy.
