My husband started going to acupuncture several years ago and raved about it. Since then, I've always wanted to try it out but could never think of a reason. I really dig alternative care. The problem is I'm a fairly healthy person and I'm still in the mindset that I need to have a problem to go visit an alternative care provider, or any doctor for that matter. Stress?? Is that a reason? Because I've got plenty of that!
Have you ever been around someone that is just such a comfortable person to be around that it's almost as if they resemble a mug of hot cocoa on a nasty day? Enter D.A. Wiley. She's amazing. Going to Wiley is like going to visit the most nurturing, kind, validating mom you've ever had. She's in the same office as Dr Suzanne Lady (amazing chiropractor). It's no wonder that the two are working together in the same office.
I spent my first appointment nestled in a comfy chair in Wiley's office unloading not only my latest and greatest perils but my history as well. She sat across from me with her kind face, sipping tea and listening intently. After a substantial amount of time, she began her first treatment, explaining what she was doing and the various meridians as she went along, why she was treating what she was treating, etc.
I saw an immediate improvement, despite trying not to set my expectations too high. I joke that college kids could probably spare themselves a few braincells if they did acupuncture in college versus the alternative. As I continue my treatment, I continue to see a steady improvement. While I don't have the two hour long treatments I started with, Wiley does an excellent job of making me feel welcome and heard while ushering me along my treatment and gently stopping me when I can't stop talking...which is fairly common.
The bottom line?? She's awesome. Go visit mama Wiley. She's even there on Saturdays. read more
