Lindsey Pope is my church. I found White Phoenix through LivingSocial. I'd never heard of community acupuncture before, and was unsure what to expect. Lindsey is the coolest, kindest, most in-touch healer I've met. She listens thoroughly and knows exactly where to touch and what to do, and I always leave feeling relaxed and happy, with significantly less pain than I had going in. The location is small but welcoming, a shared room with comfortable beds, relaxing music, and the most soothing scent. Yes, you do hear other people but for the most part everyone is respectful and quiet, and I'm able to tune out and usually fall asleep. Because it's community acupuncture, only the extremities are treated, which was weird to me at first, but Lindsey is always able to find the spot that correlates with my pain. I've been going consistently for the past month now, and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. My wife and I found White Phoenix by chance after winning a gift certificate. We did not have any prior experience with alternative medicine, but we both had issues with pain, stress, and sleep and decided to give acupuncture a try. I have been treated with acupuncture for over 25 years. I am so grateful that I found White Phoenix Acupuncture when I moved to Portland recently. I was in so much pain from bulging disks, bone spurs, nerve damage in my neck. I was told my only option was heavy duty narcotics and waiting util I could see a surgeon at the VA. I would have never thought about acupuncture, but I was so desparate. Allyndreth, reduced my pain the first visit, Darren about had it gone on the third visit, by the end of the week I was just taking the pain pills to withdraw from them I had been eating 6-8 oxycodone and 6 muscle relaxers a day as well. I added the Chinese herbs the second week and haven't looked back. This was all starting in January. Today I am pretty much pain free. My wife has had similiar results. This place has changed/saved my life! I know that may sound dramatic, but my results have been dramatic. The first time I came into this place I could barley walk due to a herniated disc. Allyndreth had to help me put on my shoes and socks because I could not even bend over. I was almost pain free after 3 appointments. Before White Phoenix I had been to my doctor and physical therapy about my back pain and I was prescribed 3 different pain killers and told I needed to learn how to cope with pain. I attended White Phoenix acupuncture after buying a Groupon for two sessions there, and loved my acupuncturist, Linsey. She was attentive and compassionate and I always felt great after my sessions. One thing to note is that it is communal acupuncture, so you are in a room with approximately 5 other people who are also receiving treatment. Interestingly enough, this didn't bother me at all. The atmosphere is peaceful, and everyone is relaxed and focused on their own experience. Since then, I have started using a health plan that covers acupuncture and now attend sessions closer to home, as unfortunately Sellwood is far from me. I would still highly recommend White Phoenix and would consider going back at some point. I love how they have a sliding scale and keep treatments accessible. This truly shows their heart. What's not to love about affordable, effective acupuncture?! I went to White Phoenix after I'd been suffering neck and head pain for almost a month as a result of stress. Nurses had told me there was nothing I could do but wait, lower the amount of stress in my life, take ibuprofin, and ice my neck. I'd been doing that for almost a month and the pain wasn't getting any less. A friend at work recommended that I try acupuncture. I was able to make an appointment immediately at White Phoenix (you can make, reschedule, or cancel appointments online completely--very easy). I'd never had acupuncture before, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but after a month of pain and immobility I was wiling to try anything. The facility is very calming, and very welcoming. It's community acupuncture, which means there are three beds and multiple chairs in the treatment room. Overall, though, it just felt calming and relaxing... everyone there was there to get treated and healed and was very quiet and calm. Allyndreath took her time getting to know me and every aspect I could think of regarding my medical history. Once we started our session, the sharp stabbing pain was gone in a series of minutes, immobility problems were gone by the end of the session, and the ceaseless headache was completely taken care of in about 3 sessions. I was AMAZED. She is fantastic. Her method of acupuncture is very gentle, you can't really event feel the needles, and never leave with bruises (and I bruise really easily). Her prices are extremely low--she truly does want you to be able to afford to come in multiple times. I have had chronic lower back area muscle spasm and pain for over 20 years which gradually has worsened with age. Five surgeons 24 years up to the present have all recommended fusion surgery as the only option. i got acupuncture at another place on a groupon and loved it, but three times a week at $75 a pop left me with no options. Than I walked by White Phoenix. I called and got sent my new patient paperwork (awesome to do in the comfort of home) printed it out and came in. I admit, the needles scared me, but she was attentive, told me not to hurry, to tell HER when i felt I was done...and seriously, in seconds, literally seconds, the pain in my ankle subsided, i zoned out and snored myself awake.
