Affordable and juicy sandwich!! One is quite filling for lunch. It's well balanced and generous with fillings. No wait on a weekday afternoon.

Big döner fans! Wanted to try this place since the grand opening but the line was way too long that day & we came while there were some arguments? I get the food was free but don't kill over döner? lol so we decided to go another day! We ordered pick-up & by the time we got to the store, it was ready. Hangry is an understatement so we ate in the car but WARNING - it was so greasy and oily that it almost spilled throughout the whole container. Not sure if it was from the meat or the salad? We got dressing on the side so it couldn't be that... There was a great amount of meat and the flavor was good - but this is definitely a cheat meal. Hopefully the next time it's not as greasy since that would be the only thing holding me back from getting it again!

I really want to like this place because of the portions and taste because it's so protein-packed but it's so greasy, oily and makes me feel a bit sick EVERY TIME. I took off the salad this time and it was still soaked. You can't really enjoy the bread because it gets soggy :( if it wasn't for this, it'd be a straight 5 stars but it's consistently this way every time I order. I always think it'll get better & order again due to how packed and filling it is, but it hasn't! Please fix this! :(

5 stars for Grand opening and providing free Doner sandwich to introduce this restaurant and food to the community. 3 stars for the taste of the Doner mix of chicken and beef sandwich. It was a big portion sandwich. The meat was dry and salty and the bread was hard and not soft. Since I have never had a Doner sandwich before, I am not sure if this is what it was supposed to taste like. The meat and veggies were not layered evenly too. The meat was on top and the veggies were separated at the bottom of the sandwich. When finishing the sandwich , it was pretty much a salad sandwich. Thank you for the opportunity to try out your sandwich.

Their sandwich is huge. Filling but needs more sauce (saying this as a person who doesnt enjoy too much sauce in their food) Their menu is very limited, like about 1 sandwich ? 1 burrito? 1 fries? I should have taken a photo of their menu, but it's not hard to pick from something that only offer about a handful of items. The place seems more like a food stall but with a roof.

Ate here today by myself after work as a substitute paraprofessional at P.S. 234 Q for lunch and dinner. I had brought and ate the recommended meal which was both the doner sandwich with mixed meats (both chicken and beef) and haus fries with a can of orange soda that it tasted dope and I wish that they could've gave me more sauce but I decided not to pay for it extra and I'd gotten really full afterwards. Oh well! Anyways, the service there was also attentive and friendly. I couldn't agree more. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)

Typical doner fare. Very good. No complaints. Their boxes and sandwiches pack a punch. Plentiful and flavorful. Fast delivery. Boxes seem a lot smaller in size at first glance but when you dig in you realize looks are deceiving. I got 2.5-3 servings out of one order. Prices are very fair for what you get. Definitely recommend!

I came to Doner Haus the night it opened and we're doing a free promo. Even though the place was packed and the back of house were diligently working on orders, my mixed sandwich still came out in great quality. There were plentiful of mixed beef and chicken and sliced veggies. The pressed wrap was very crispy and crunchy, holding everything together. And the fries gave a really nice Cajun kick to it all. The value of $15 sandwich + fries had me coming back less than a week later.

We've traveled all the way from Long Island a few times to get food from here, this time we went it was disgusting! We were around Steinway so we placed our order via toast & once we got home we opened up the box and it was mostly bits of fat .. not actual chicken. We tossed out more than half of the box and only picked at some of the fries! Never going back again

It is incredible, but when this place first opened, there were lines and lines of people around the block for their free giveaways. Once all this died down, not many stopped by again. Like the German Kabob House that opened on Steinway Street, there were a lot of hoopla marriage proposals and so much silly stuff it is hard to believe. And for what? Like GKH, this Doner Kabab hose is getting away by selling very mediocre cuts of meat. You are much better off going to an authentic Turkish or Middle Eastern restaurant. I showed a photo of the Donar Hause special, which is just a mush of sliced meat mixed with other stuff, such as fries. The only pluses for this place are a friendly employee and a clean spot. Yes, two stars sum it up for me!!

Listen, I'm not sure if it was the logo that pulled me in or the aesthetics or the grand opening sign, but the mixed order with the fries and salad in it was delicious. It's close to where I live right off the 30th train stop. I can't complain, this hit the spot. I came here twice already and will go back.

Recommendations- Bastilla/Pastilla, Tagines, Zaalouk. Grilled platters are alright. On a side note, some dishes, similar to other Moroccan places, such as couscous, are only available on weekends. As per many of my recent reviews, I was at this Moroccan spot a good while ago, with our host having heard about it prior to the place being featured in the NYT Top 100 as well as on TasteBuds, a highly recommended Instagram/TikTok account. The woman who helped us, whom I believe was one of the owners, was very friendly, and the place inside was casual and decently busy, especially for how far away it is from the subway. The food was overall very tasty, with a particularly good bastilla/pastilla, among everything else, and I can see why this restaurant has gotten so much publicity. My preference of the two appetizers was the $7.99 Zaalouk, or eggplant cooked in tomato sauce and marinated with charmoula. The dish reminded me a bit of Egyptian-style moussaka due to the mix, though less tomato-focused and more about the sweet eggplant. The chermoula was very light, with a hint of sourness and spice. Overall, this was delicious, especially with the bread. The other appetizer was the Moroccan Carrot for $6, which was a mix of sliced carrots with a spicy chermoula. Of everything we ordered, this was the least favorite dish of the night, as the cold carrots lacked much flavor, as there was a lack of chermoula flavor, just like with the eggplant. Best of the dishes was the $12.99 Chicken Bastilla, or Pastilla, listed as a traditional Moroccan pie stuffed with chicken strips, crushed almonds, and dusted with icing sugar and cinnamon. A lot of people might find this sweet and savory combination odd, but I have gotten used to it, and this was a very good version. The chicken was well-spiced, the pie was flaky, and it wasn't overly sweet. The previous place, which had the best version, was the long-closed La Shuk in Harlem, and this is better, though I do want to compare it to the other popular Moroccan spot in Astoria, Siham. Second favorite was the Lamb Tajine, or Tagine, With Prunes for $22, consisting of slow cooked meat with prunes, dried apricots, roasted almonds, and sesame, and served with rice. The lamb inside was very tender and fell off the bone. I liked the roasted almonds and sesame as the bit of nuttiness helped with the overall sweetness of the dish. We also liked this dish, and it paired particularly well with the rice. My preference from the grilled section was the $16.99 Merguez, listed as Moroccan merguez grilled over charcoal, and served with rice. The dish came with many pieces of sausage, which had a slight spicy kick and a bit of a snap. For the same price, there was also the Grilled Lamb, or tender lamb with a choice of rice or fries. The lamb was pretty flavorful, but some pieces were a bit overcooked. It was good, though, but not as notable. The fries on the side were a mixed bag, with some being crispy and some a bit soft, so between the two, I would recommend the rice more. While I didn't love the grilled platters, the rest of the dishes were delicious. Combine that with the friendly service, and we had a very good time. I wouldn't mind going back and trying again, though this might also be because I want to have more of their bastilla.

Dar Lbahja was phenomenal from start to finish. We tried the lamb tagine, beef tajia, beef tagine…read morewith vegetables, and the chicken tagine, and every single dish delivered. The portions were generous, the meat was consistently tender, and everything was packed with rich, comforting flavor. This is the kind of food that really sticks with you. Even though we ordered to-go, the experience stood out. The staff treated us incredibly well during the wait and even offered complimentary Moroccan mint tea and bread. For a brief moment, it genuinely felt like a glimpse into Moroccan hospitality. I do not rave about places often, but this is absolutely one I would recommend to others without hesitation.

I was brought here by my friend (and her family) as she recommended the place, and she came pretty often. I would say that my friend sometimes has interesting taste, but so far her recommendations have been really solid. Since my friend brought me here, I just took whatever she recommended, as she took command of all ordering. This was great for me, since I opened the menu and was like... wow, I don't even know what is good. So I just sat back and *attempted* to listen to what was going on. We ended up getting hot tea with lemon, beef skirt kebab, lamb kebab, samsa, cheburek with meat, and a few other things I'm not quite sure about. She just ordered, and honestly, I just ate everything she threw at me. The samsas were delicious! They were super flaky, and the meat was well seasoned and super juicy. The samsa were also quite hefty, they fill you up if you eat too many. It reminded me of the homemade ones my friend used to give me. Next up, the cheburek with meat. This was a first for me, and my friend said it was a must get. She was completely right... we ended up getting a 2nd order of this. It was super light, compared to everything else we ordered, as it is only filled with a bit of meat. The dough is fried to perfection, it was a bit crispy, soft, and didn't feel oily. It came with what I assume is a tomato sauce, which pairs well with it. We also got a few of the beef and lamb kebabs, and they were also delicious. The beef tasted better than the lamb, but my friend says that is just depends on the day. So I guess it depends on who is cooking that day? But the beef was super juicy, and it was well seasoned. The lamb was also good, but it just wasn't as yummy as the beef skirt. Overall, I really like everything here and I look forward to my next trip back to NY.

Went with a group on a Thursday evening, and the place is fairly small with about 10 or so tables. There was only one server but since there was only one other occupied table, this wasn't an issue. Service was prompt and friendly and our server was willing to explain things to some in our group who weren't very familiar with Uyghur cuisine. The space also had nice vibes, clean with understated and tasteful decor on the walls. We had to get the special laghman because this spot is known for that, and you get the option of either lamb or beef. We ordered both varieties and they were both delicious. The meat was tender and they're loaded with fresh vegetables, with the mushrooms being a highlight. The sauce in particular was incredibly rich and savory and I was tempted to get an additional order of noodles on the side just to enjoy the sauce some more. It was that good. Others in our group ordered the stir fried noodles which I got to try; it wasn't saucy like the laghman but it was equally delicious. We also ordered the lamb dumplings, which was probably the weakest dish of the night. They weren't bad, and for $15 you get a large plate of them, meant to be shared or enjoyed as an entree. It's just that for the area you can get better dumplings for a cheaper price. I probably wouldn't order these again when I return, but the chili oil and black vinegar elevated them a bit. But the real highlight of the night had to be the lamb kebabs, spelled kawap here, served on skewers. They are $5 a pop, so they're not exactly cheap but they are worth every penny. Grilled and seasoned to perfection with tender meat, I genuinely think these are the best lamb kebabs I've had in the city, and I've had a lot from dining at many Middle Eastern restaurants. These blow them all away. If you visit, make sure to get one or two skewers for yourself along with your entree. Finally we had some milk tea, served in a bowl and not a cup like you might expect. It was rich, decadent, a little salty, and a great way to end a great meal. All in all, loved my experience here and I'm eager to go back.
