Played Cypress Ridge today 7/18/2025. We had a group of 20 golfers. When we arrived, we noticed how green the course looked. The course looked amazing. Upon entering the club house to checked in we met Kevin Wildes. He got us all checked in. Kevin was amazing and was able to get us checked in quickly. He was able to make conversation with us. He definitely showed what great customer service truly is by making us feel welcomed. The rest of the staff we encountered were just as equally nice and accommodating. From the first tee to the 18th tee the course was in great shape. The fairways were perfect and the greens were also. The course played tough on some hole but overall, it was great play. The course grounds crew definitely need to receive some KUDOS. The course was in excellent shape. Very well maintained. Overall, for the price. I think you get a little more than what you pay for. The staff definitely is the epitome of what great customer service should be. And the course speaks for itself. Super friendly staff and owner. Golf course is in great condition. And rotating tees at the driving range to keep it the grass in good condition. I frequent this golf course every week as time permits and haven't been disappointed yet. And for the other golfers I've ran into here. All have been super friendly and helpful. Played first time. It's a challenging gem with each hole different. Unpretentious and friendly staff. This is what all muni golf should be. First few holes pretty vanilla then the teeth come out, especially on hillier back. Even from blue white combo par 3s play long and several tricky short par 4's. Not for casual golfers, slope like 130. I carried bag and walked it, kind of tough as some connecting areas longer. Greens are excellent. We got through a foursome on a Sunday afternoon and finished just over four hours. It's a course that requires thought and allows you to use every club. It was $45 to walk, $55 to ride on a Sunday. This is a message to the owners of this once great course. Your rates are verging on excessive and the course is pretty rough. Please spend some of that money we pay to invest in the course. We've been playing this course at least once a month for the past five years but the last time we played (early July 24') to a man, our group said they were shocked at how bad the course looked and played. read more

One of the better public courses on the Central Coast. The course itself is challenging enough, and going off the fairway seems to be a bit more punitive in terms of undulating hills and opportunities for lost balls. I like to walk w/ a push cart, and this course will give you a good workout -- holes 16 & 17 in particular. I recommend a motorized cart. In the first 6 months of 2021, the course is in very good shape. Only criticism is the locals don't seem to regularly fix their ball marks on the greens -- why is that?? The staff are very friendly, both in the pro shop and at the snack bar. They obviously care about customer service. Last time out, we had lunch after our round -- excellent cheeseburger!! Cheers! Love all the cypress on the golf courses. Challenging. Is it only us that have problem w satellite? We couldn't use our garmin watches and the golf apps wouldn't work. It was purely range finders and the markers on the course. So strange. Good practice area. Clean facilities. Love the drinks at such a reasonable rate (compared to LA). Fabulous experience in late March 2024. Perfect greens, gorgeous fairways and a great staff. Huge practice area (real grass). Course is challenging (some uphills and dog legs) from the blue tees and offers ocean views on a few holes. A few tee boxes were chewed up and not level, but hey, it's still awesome. Won't play here again. Teed off 40min late, backed up 5 groups. No marshall. No cart girl. When we showed up there was only one guy running the front desk and bar/food area across the room. Poor guy was running back and forth obviously understaffed for a Sunday as there were at least 5 people in each line. Owner shows up on hole 4 asking us to not hit into the group in front. Did acknowledge the two blind holes it happened on (1/4) the group that called on us was at least a hole behind. If you're going to Marshall us, make sure you check your reporting party. Meets us back on hole 7 (owner drove up on the tee box) kicks us out. After I told him that I had pics of the reporting party peeing in a backyard and hitting from the back yard he said he didn't care. I told him I'd make sure the hoa knew that so maybe they could drop their fees. I let him know I had photos and video of the situation and I would post it on social media (doing it now) he backed off and offered beers and to refund the round if we wanted to come back. I won't be back . My party won't be back. The owner said he couldn't care less if they peed or hit out of a yard. No thanks. I would encourage him that there are two sides to every story. I've been playing here for 6 years and we won't be back. Stick to any course around the area. read more

I called this morning and asked to talked with the Manager. I can take care of that he said. I explained how the corse is going down hill. He said is that all you have to complain about. We're a family owned golf course we know how bad the course looks, but it's an outdoor sport he says. This picture doesn't show how bad it is. Not one even place in the tee box to stand on flat ground. And I'm told is that it? No actually the food has really gone down hill also. Thanks. Spend the money and go to Monarch Dunes...Also the guy who took the role of the the Manager of this family owned business, said you don't have to play here!!! read more

FOUR! Well 5 stars... My new favorite course to play! We played 18 this last Saturday (4/3/21). It's been years since I have played here. My company a few years ago had a special they offered to have us come and play. The grounds were kept very nice. The holes were challenging, but fun. I have played some courses where they were challenging but NOT fun. You golfers know what I am talking about. Best yet, ALL the staff were extremely welcoming and thankful for having us come there. Even the young man at the snack bar even greeted me as soon as I came in the door even though I didn't buy anything from him. We hit a few balls at the range and the boxes were a little 'chunked out'. I am guessing someone who works there or maybe owns it came and noticed that pushed up the tee boxes to some nicer grass. Love that! If you come to the central coast, this is one of the top 3 to come and play The one and only recommendation is having a snack/drink cart. A tasty treat/cold beer would have been nice at the back 9. read more

Golf Course is great, it's the apparent environment or culture of the place that makes it 1 star for me. Booked as a single and was supposed to be paired a threesome. No starter, I'm at the 1st tee, no threesome around, I waited then went off solo, other group let me pass them, then I run into a threesome that doesn't have me join up, 10th the group turns into a five some. Left after that. Feel like this place discourages outsiders and singles from coming there. This is my third time here and similar issues with being paired up. I'm not from the area so when I visit it's just me playing. Definitely a poor vibe there. Prefer monarch Dunes, people are more welcoming than at Cypress. read more

One of the best courses to play on the California central coast. Challenging layout, good condition. I enjoy every time I play here!

The course is well-managed kept in good shape. People are friendly, not too expensive.

Cypress has been our favorite course to play when we are here for the the last 5 years and we just played and I can say the course was in the worst shape tee areas and greens were not as good as the past maybe due to the storms in past but I don't know. We are iffy about playin next year we we check reviews next year to see. read more

This is a very difficult course that from from the combo tees claims to be 125 slope. Hard to believe. The only reason I mention it is because if you are not up to snuff with your game you're going to get your ass kicked. There are many forced carries, blind shots and huge gaping bunkers. Conditioning is good, the greens were true and in great shape. Bunkers raked, etc. One thing that is needless on their part: There is not enough signage at forks on cart paths to let it be clear where the next tee box is. Also, there is really no way to plan your way around the holes unless you're familiar with the layout. ON this type of layout a small map would be of tremendous help. I imagine this affects pace of play. I would encourage the powers that be to re-examine these points. The biggest thing that's going to affect your play however is the weather. When there's heavy fog you practically need night vision goggles! read more

Cypress Ridge Golf Course - Gaping bunkers. - Golf Near Me - Arroyo Grande, California

Have been playing this course since it first opened. Just played yesterday after some time off. This is NOT the course it used to be. Maybe the lawn mowers are broken -- the fairways had not been mowed in quite awhile and were more like rough than fairway. Bunkers missing a lot of sand and not maintained at all. Some rakes lying around -- nobody using them. Sides of steep bunkers seriously eroded from water (should be ground under repair). Greens used to be about the best in the area -- not anymore. Fringes rough, all kinds of different grasses growing to different heights (mowers?). Range looks like abandoned land. What a disappointment to see what was formerly one of the best changed to mediocre at best. read more

Golf course layout is difficult but adventurously fun! Played course on a weeks worth of on and off rain so can't be to judgmental on conditions but it was lush and green! Some areas of opportunities but overall great experience! You have to have confidence off the tee and pick your shots! Driver may not be always the beat choice! The fairways are not in good shape. Greens are good. Interesting layout and challenging to play. Walkable but #16 & #17 are straight uphill.

We came up from Southern California to play couple days of golf, had a wonderful experience at Cypress Ridge, we talked with Charlie the owner, had wonderful discussions, had a bowl of chili, nachos and a wonderful day , the golf course was an outstanding shape from tee to green, we will be back soon read more

Five people inside the pro shop today not wearing masks, including the person behind the food counter who was happily WHISTLING all over the place. There is a sign on the door that masks are required but the staff do not comply. Be careful if you order food/drinks here. Or...just don't do it. read more

Played here 11/3/21. Greens are good, tee boxes are good, fairways are good. Sand traps don't have much sand, so don't go in there! Course is gorgeous w/ lots of old cypress trees. Course is challenging but playable. Pro shop staff are professional and courteous. Looking forward to playing there again. read more

Love the course, love the new owners. The homeowners around there are pretty shitty though. It's like all they do is sit there watching the course for something to complain about. It's a public course, not a country club. Yet the homeowners will call the clubhouse to complain about something as trivial as the "aesthetics" of a group of players. A fun course in great shape, but not especially memorable. I took a 4-day, six course golf tour with some friends, and this was our 4th favorite. The others were in this order: 1. Monarch Dunes - Nipomo 2. Ocean Course at Half Moon Bay 3. Seascape - Aptos 4. Cypress Ridge - Arroyo Grande 5. Avila Beach - San Luis Obispo 6. Black Lake - Nipomo Avila Beach and Black Lake were not fun at all. Monarch Dunes was extremely fun, and Half Moon Bay is one of the most beautiful courses you'll find. read more

I've played here annually for the past several years and always find this course to be challenging and rewarding. The course is in great shape and offers many risk / reward holes. #4 is a somewhat a drivable par 4, but wise to go with a long iron and chip on close for a birdy. #9 is a short par 5 that can be reached in two, but watch out for the bunkers. Two drivable par 4s on the back nine will challenge you with either a driving range OB or water. The greens could be a bit more firm. Overall a good experience. Don't expect a lavish club house. read more

Senior Rate is 80 yr old and up. My Dad who is 75 had to pay full rate. They also don't have a 9 hole rate. Lady on tee sheet was everything but helpful. She seemed annoyed. I like the topography of the course but all the white flowers in the fairway make it difficult to find ball. read more

This is probably my favorite course on the central course. Monarch is close but I love playing here. I went a couple weeks ago and it was in great shape. I'm sure the little rain has helped but I was expecting it to be more run down so I was pleasantly surprised. Went at 9:10 and got done a little after 1. There was a bit of a hold up after 5 holes or so but it wasn't too bad. Holes are different and but not overly difficult. I would definitely recommend coming here early as it fills up in the late morning/early afternoon. Also, note that you might not get 18 holes in if you do the super twilight. Unlike monarch, you must have carts in by 5:30PM which is about 30 minutes or so before it's too dark to play. read more
