Yes there is a South Broward Community school located on the grounds offering various classes and programs, but this updated review is for the high school and I hope that Yelp makes the necessary changes so people will not be misled. Now with that being said, the days are winding down. It's been four long challenging years, but she has made it. This is baby girl's last year of high school....Class of 2025! Am I excited? I'm not there yet, probably might get emotional when I see her get all dolled up in her cap & gown, but I'm neutral for right now. I'm more reflecting on the journey....the many sacrifices I had to make during the transitions through Elementary, Middle and High school. I am slowly letting go of the reigns. But I will say a lot of the teachers are amazing, including the counselors, security, and the school nurse. The substitutes are really unqualified, so are some of the bus drivers, most of the time the sub in bus drivers don't know where they're going. This school can improve quite a bit, and there is some highs and lows, but overall I have liked going there from 6th to 8th grade, and I definitely would not let my kids go but that doesn't mean I haven't enjoyed every single second.

Security is lacking more than ever and you can buy a pot brownie or some acid tabs in second hour everyday since giant duffle bags aren't an alarm to anyone at all. I went to this school all four years and it's the biggest joke of an education system I've been in. It makes sense to see why most of the US sees Florida as the lack in IQ and education state coming to these school grounds. The staff barely taught the correct curriculum when needed and didn't offer proper guidance too. If you wanted to talk to your guidance counselor about classes or progress and opportunities for career growth they would be impossible to find unless you were an IB student. Even when emailed they'd tell you to meet them on a day which would be 2 weeks out and still not be found. The students come from a wide array of slums and hoods which is very unattractive. It makes me happy to know I graduated a prison like system and now in college talking to advisors that HELP their students to become a better person and am now on a career path to medical excellence to provide to a family someday far out of this joke state and tell them to throw out that reunion letter when I get it...

Each student is well known by their teachers & celebrated, encouraged & dare I say, loved? Valued? It is truly a unique place. In addition to that rarity, the school is FUN! They find ways to teach that are creative & engage kids because they are having a good time. This is not your average education but rather a living breathing education-full of excitement. For example, chemistry may be taught via cooking and biology through a mystery that needs to solved. The headmaster is a graduate of Waldorf (Steiner) school & has brought the excellence of that education to her program. You won't find ANYTHING else like this in South Florida. I can't think of many schools where a child is so well cared for emotionally as well as academically. If you are lucky enough to stumble upon this little gem in South Florida you won't want to pass it up. Unconventional? Yes. However, it WORKS. The children are receiving an A+++ education in an alternative setting with amazing educators who see their 'job' as a calling & are head and shoulders above other educators. Give it a try--they welcome any child to come for a day or two visit so that they can see first hand what it is all about. Your child will come home raving & will actually be EXCITED about a SCHOOL! Meet with the headmaster and see for yourself what an elegant, caring, extremely intelligent, strong and capable woman she is. I can say that I feel blessed that my son has the chance to attend this school. I could go on and on but I suggest that you check it out for yourself. Also, it is a private school and education of this quality cost money. What better investment is there though really? However, I should mention that that do have tuition assistance and will also help you look for any scholarships that you may qualify for so, don't let the fact that you have to pay tuition deter you from at least checking it out. Where there is a will there is a way. If every child were given a healthy place to grow and learn like this, the world would be a much better place. Heck! We should ALL be seen, honored and celebrated the way students are at this school! It is located in the Jewish Community Center however, it is NOT a religious school BUT it IS a 'spiritual' school in that the students are taught to care for one another, the greater community, the planet and environment and THEMSELVES. This being said, it is NOT some 'Hippy' school. It is a serious program and a lot is offered and expected from the students academically. I would say the classes are more akin to an undergraduate program at a good university. They are certainly far more challenging than a regular high school-private or public. The students are expected to research & write at a college level (They are WELL taught and guided to be able to do so). They all take Latin, do community service as well as internships in fields of their own interest. They research utilizing real scientific publications and are taught to properly use them. This is an exceptional college preparatory program. Upon graduation they should be able to coast on auto-pilot through an undergraduate degree. There is also a STRONG sense of community. No high school 'Clicks'. No one's excluded, there is NO bullying or teasing-PERIOD. All of these 'details' are paid close attention to by the staff. I could go on and on but , see for yourself. The headmaster's name is Wendy Weiner and she welcomes visitors. Mrs. Weiner is an exceptional human being. When she felt that South Florida was lacking an acceptable school for her two lovely daughters to attend--she OPENED her own school! Wow. That alone speaks volumes about her but she is also a warm, kind woman. She's strong and capable in a way that inspires others just through her presence. Her children are both amazing young women and demonstrate what an awe-inspiring mother Wendy is. Her eldest daughter is now attending college where she is a member of a co-ed 'Community Service' Fraternity. Clearly she is following in her parents footsteps and giving back to others. Mr. Weiner has also played an essential part in bringing Conservatory Prep to fruition. He is a warmhearted, friendly and earnest man. He works with sincerity and I swear the man has stealth skills! His modesty and humble way of keeping all the wheels in motion is admirable. A husband and wife team adds to the feeling of community that is rarely found anymore and set's a positive example for the children of a loving, intact marriage. Every detail in this tiny school has been considered and achieved. The students, faculty and parents/guardians form a community that touches my heart and feels more like an extended family than simply an institution of learning. They very subtly charge large family financial obligations to go along with the scholarships or student fees. They also had the periodic need to charge the families to support church activities. So although this school has a very good academic program be prepared to fully pay for it.

Our son Jack has been part of the Montessori Institute of Broward community since he was two years…read moreold, and it has been an incredible experience for our family. The school truly nurtures independence, curiosity, and confidence in its students. Over the years we've watched Jack grow not only academically but also personally, developing strong communication skills, responsibility, and a genuine love of learning. One of the most special opportunities recently was his participation in the MMUN (Montessori Model United Nations) conference in New York. Seeing students represent their schools and countries on an international stage at such a young age speaks volumes about the quality of education and encouragement they receive at Montessori Institute of Broward. The leadership at the school is exceptional. Ms. E, the principal, creates a warm, supportive environment where students feel valued and inspired. She truly leads with heart and vision. Jack's Grade 4 teacher, Ms. Kay, has also been outstanding--patient, dedicated, and deeply invested in her students' growth. I have seen so much positive growth academically, which I completely expected in this Montessori environment. What I did not expect was that my boys would gain so much independence and self-confidence. The teachers at this school work very diligently at empowering the children to work independently. All of the teachers are very committed to their students and to keeping the parents informed about their childrens' progress. There are a number of parent driven committee's that welcome parent's to donate their time and talents to the betterment of the school.
