She is rude & feels entitled. Sure, she can be kind at times but she has a very stuck up demeaning personality. I went in for an initial office visit and was stuck with a $330 bill. Apparently my insurance could do nothing about it because it was the way her contract prices were listed. NOTE THIS IS ONLY A OFFICE VISIT. NO PROCEDURE OR MEDICATION WAS PRESCRIBED. so stupid and a waste of money. She is so greedy. I forgot to mention I wanted to get a mole procedure removed and it ended to be close to $2,000!!! Unbelievable. I am looking for a new physician to remove my mole within a reasonable amount. read more

Dr Mace Motta has been my OBGYN since I was 18, she delivered both of my kids and I love her and her staff!

Her office is nice, the midwives and other nurses are nice and super friendly but Motta is a while nother story. I was going to the office the last Month or so and everything was great but I will have to agree her communication is awful, she is not professionally personal, she is impatient, very busy- cant talk to her personally unless you set up an appointment, her nurses definitely run the show. So be prepared to be dealing with them alot. She is not attentive to the matters you feel are most important if she feels otherwise. She seems like she doesn't care much about the OB part of her practice except for the money but puts a lot of her energy in her surgery area- the reviews have been pretty good on that. Also the wait to be called back takes 25-30 min so take a half day off work. I will say she is fashionable. Ignored the reviews I hope you dont but let me know your turn out. Office is clean and newly renovated. Office staff is not very friendly and act very put out if you call with questions. It seems like her nurse really has the run of the place and that Dr. M-M is too busy. We used her for the first trimester of my pregnancy and ended up leaving because my husband & I were so uncomfortable each visit. read more

My experiences over several years with Mace-Motta were never good. The last straw for me was her performing a painful and unnecessary procedure on me that left me in excruciating pain for two days with no pain meds prescribed. Her bedside manner was atrocious. Her bread and butter is pregnant patients so if you're beyond baby making years she makes you feel as though she has no time or use for you. The longest she ever spent with me was 5 minutes and I can't tell you the number of times she blew off my concerns (oftentimes even blatantly turning her head and ignoring me). They also told me on more than a few occasions that my bill would be significantly less than it turned out to be. My new doctor was horrified over the lack of care I receive from her and the completely unnecessary procedure Mace-Motta put me through. read more

Mace-Motta and her nurse are the type of women who don't believe you're capable of being a decent parent unless you're exactly like them. I admitted to taking prescription pain pills, because I was unaware I was pregnant at the time. "That's like being addicted to heroin!" I was then labeled a "high risk pregnancy" and told that they only handle "normal pregnancies". I was humiliated. To add insult to injury, the nurse grabbed me by the hand and asked me if I believe in Jesus Christ. WTF!? My boyfriend had to roll his chair to the other side of the room to keep from losing his temper. After I said yes, she asked if I wanted her to pray with me. My religion is none of these "professionals" business. Update: 3 months after this as posted, I had a miscarriage due to a condition called blighted ovum. When I tried to get my medical records to transfer to MacArthur OBGYN, they gave me the run around. I am now pregnant again and go to MacArthur on the regular. THEY ARE FANTASTIC. Never an issue with them. They treat me as an equal despite my appearance (I'm covered in tattoos). read more

My partner and I have been seeing Dr. Mace-Motta for years and LOVE her. Her office staff has been nothing but nice to us, and no one has ever once mentioned religion. She has performed surgery on my partner twice. Dr. Mace-Motta is up on the latest technology and information and she has a great personality. She is warm, kind, and friendly, and talks about her family and puts you at ease. We will keep seeing her until either she moves, or we do! read more

I have been seeing an internist for years who recently advised that I find a gynecologist. I have seen a few negative reviews and thought I might want to share my experience with Dr. Mace-Motta and her nurse Mindy. Mindy was sweet and very thorough with my medical history. Dr. Mace-Motta spent about an hour with me answering my questions and concerns. She took her time and encouraged all questions no matter how delicate the subject. Really unfriendly office staff, although the office is clean and renovated, as the previous reviewer wrote. I did not have a good experience with the nurses - when doing a blood test, the first nurse missed my vein, and a second nurse had to take over. The office visit was rushed, did not feel as though my questions were being fully addressed. The worst part however, was a couple days later when the nurse called to give me incorrect lab results!!! I went to her a long time ago. She is terrible in her patient skills. I had my 20 wk ultrasound and the technician scared the heck out of me by telling me my baby was sleepy and would not move. She kept prodding my stomach with the ultrasound stick trying to wake up the baby. ugh!!! Needless to say I was in tears at the end of the procedure and I therefore complained to the doctor about how needlessly frightened I was. She sided with the technician, saying she did nothing wrong!!! I had to find (a much nicer) OB half way through my pregnancy. Would not recommend her at all. She is very impersonal and all the work is done by her nurses and you get to see her for maybe 30 seconds!!! read more

Dr. Mace-Motta seems competent but that doesn't help if her bedside manners are atrocious. She doesn't communicate well and is condescending and seems putout when you ask her questions. Her nurse practitioner, Barbara, is good but at some point you may want/need to see the doctor. I've tried for 3 years but no more... going elsewhere. read more

First of all, I would say that the doctor and the front office staff is completely unprofessional & very cold which makes your overall experience bad to begin with. Secondly, I would never recommend Dr. Mace-Motta to anybody as I had a very rough experience with her. She lacks compassion and bedside manners which I feel is of utmost importance for an OBGYN. She told me at my 36 week sonogram that my baby is "humongous " and I can't deliver vaginally (my baby weighed 6 lbs 4oz at 36 weeks). She insisted that I schedule a C-Section immediately as there was no other way. I was very scared and confused and I asked her to give me some time to digest the fact and think about it. But she was not ready to "discuss" it at all and made me schedule c-section at 39 weeks at that instance. She said there is no way I can deliver vaginally and the only option I had was to think about the date for my c-section and ofcourse she threw in there that if I don't schedule it on the day she suggested I may have to get it delivered with whoever is on-call as she is going for a weeklong vacation after that day and my due date fell in the week she was gone. I didn't feel right about the decision and seeked second opinion from a couple of other OB/GYNs and I was told that i) the baby may be big but the sonograms later in the pregnancy are not very accurate and the weight may be +/- 20% and ii) there is no need to schedule a c-section that early in the pregnancy, I could try a normal labor and if things don't progress well then I may have to go for a c-section. Doing my research I went in for my next appointment hoping to talk this through with her. It wasn't a big surprise to me or my husband when she again didn't want much discussion but what surprised me was she started enacting how my baby would look if she had shoulder dislocation during delivery etc. I agree that that was a possibility but that is a possibility in any pregnancy and even if there is a scare for such a thing, I don't think a physician should enact how my baby would look like when she herself is not certain about it. On my continuous resistance to c-section she agreed to induce labor but her words were "We can induce labor but I am not happy with this decision and I want you to know that you WILL NOT deliver vaginally". At that visit, I lost my trust in her completely and after a lot of stress and research we switched doctors such late in the pregnancy but that was the best decision we ever made. I wont delve in to the details of how stressful that couple of weeks she made it for me but I am glad we took that bold step. Just as an fyi, our healthy daughter was born vaginally and weighed only 7.5lbs without any complications at all. read more

My experience with Dr. Mace-Motta was such that I would not recommend her services to anyone. The office is nice, appointment time are good, and her nurses are very friendly..... but that's where the compliments stop. Her nurses seem to have to run the show. She does not make an effort to get to know her patients. When I was pregnant, my appointments were less than 3 minutes each. I felt very much like a number. She dismissed just about every symptom or issue I brought up without asking any further follow up questions. Her after hours contacts are from a different practice and seem very put out by the call. When I did have complications with my pregnancy, she never once followed up. She never reached out to explain my options or coach me through next steps. Her nurse called a few days AFTER I found out I was losing my baby, but that was it. Another doctor ended up delivering my baby, and at that point, I was just happy she was no longer involved. Needless to say, I have switched gynecology practices and am much happier where I'm at now. read more
