Back in 2019, she met with us at City Hall back when we were there to get our wedding license. She asked questions and provided several sample scripts when it was clear that we didn't have a firm idea of the type of ceremony we wanted. When City Hall cancelled weddings because of the pandemic, Cynthia promptly refunded our deposit. But once the City reopened, we rebooked and rescheduled. We don't live in San Francisco, so Cynthia met with us over Zoom to finalize the ceremony. She had great ideas because she's been officiating weddings for decades. My wife and I wrote part of our own vows, and she looked those over beforehand as well. Many people from different walks of life attended our ceremony - some were religious and were used to church weddings, others may have shown up to our wedding after mimosas in the Castro - but people from both camps complimented Cynthia and her work that day. Cynthia was the officiant for a wedding I organized on 9/17/14 for my longest friend (over 44 years). David is living in Cambodia and returned to the US to marry his longtime partner Victor. He asked if he could get married at my home in San Francisco and I jumped at the chance. I immediately reached out to Cynthia, whom I know has performed many marriages and rituals and would be the perfect person to preside over their wedding. I was thrilled that she was available on a couple of different dates options that worked for the grooms. She was helpful with information on obtaining a license (they were able to get an appointment online to get a SF wedding license in advance of arriving in SF), arrived an hour before the ceremony to discuss the process, vows and solicit any customization that they wanted. It was obvious that she has done this many times and she was calm, supportive and encouraging to the grooms. Before we walked out on the deck for the ceremony, she asked, "Who has the rings?" and course they were buried in a suitcase downstairs. Ooops - David ran to go get them. One emergency averted! Her calm and soothing nature as they went through the ceremony and vows was so wonderful and loving and put everyone at ease. And her attention to detail didn't stop there - when the witnesses had to sign the license she was very careful to explain the process, what went where on the form, all to avoid a mistake that could then invalidate the document. All of that was welcome information and made the process so simple. I would ask Cynthia to preside at any ritual. Cynthia has been a real gift in my life. I met her while searching for a non-denominational wedding officiant, with some pagan leanings, to perform something like a traditional Celtic handfasting ceremony. She was flexible as we navigated thru the wedding planning process and she made it very easy for us to craft our own ceremony - she sent us a few different documents with ceremony outlines for us to pick and choose from. I was able to add just the things I wanted, adjust the wording to better suit our needs and to let her be the expert on the best way to take certain steps.
