We were so honored to have Cynthia Gregory as our officiant for our October 2022 wedding! Cynthia helped us to plan, step-by-step, every part of the ritual and we felt so taken care of, in the best way possible. She took her time with us and we did not feel rushed at all. She had all the great qualities one could hope for in a wedding officiant - organized, creative ideas and suggestions, punctual - but the elements that stood out the most were her compassion and passion for joining 2 souls together in ritual. Cynthia even helped counsel us about our last-minute anxieties and stress (aka, "threshold demons")! When we were pressed to find a photographer at the last minute, she again was there for us and looped in a fantastic photographer named Willie who saved us from a lot of undue stress on our big day. We wanted a "nontraditional" ceremony and Cynthia happily obliged. She knew all the intricacies of a handfasting, and even educated our guests every step of the way. She guided us through the entire process and led us, with love, through the gates of marriage. Cynthia's love for her work shines through and was authentically felt during the actual ceremony! Cynthia is a consummate professional with a kind, loving and creative spirit! We are so grateful to have had her guiding hand and heart to help us cross the marriage threshold! Please, take our word for it, contact Cynthia for your ceremony. Your hearts will be happy you did! read more

If you're getting married at San Francisco City Hall, you should hire Cynthia Gregory to officiate the ceremony. You're still reading this review instead of clicking on her website or requesting more information from the link, so I suppose you want a story for context. My wife and I got married at City Hall in April 2022. We were supposed to get married there April 1, 2020, but the April Fool's joke was on us. Cynthia was helpful from the start. Back in 2019, she met with us at City Hall back when we were there to get our wedding license. She asked questions and provided several sample scripts when it was clear that we didn't have a firm idea of the type of ceremony we wanted. When City Hall cancelled weddings because of the pandemic, Cynthia promptly refunded our deposit. But once the City reopened, we rebooked and rescheduled. We don't live in San Francisco, so Cynthia met with us over Zoom to finalize the ceremony. She had great ideas because she's been officiating weddings for decades. My wife and I wrote part of our own vows, and she looked those over beforehand as well. Many people from different walks of life attended our ceremony - some were religious and were used to church weddings, others may have shown up to our wedding after mimosas in the Castro - but people from both camps complimented Cynthia and her work that day. She was a wise, calming presence on what can be a hectic day. I'm glad Cynthia was there for us on our wedding day. I'm sure you and your spouse will be as well. read more

We were so lucky that Cynthia officiated our nuptials at SF City hall in 2018. Cynthia was assigned to us for our ceremony and was really touched by how gracious, calm, and kind she was during the whole process. Her speech during our vows really touched my heart and I did not expect to UGLY cry during it. I found our marriage certificate and was so glad that Cynthia was our officiant and officially tied to us on our very special day. read more

Cynthia was absolutely amazing during our wedding nuptials! She was very easy to work with and made us feel very comfortable. We communicated via Zoom and also on email, which she was quick to respond with any questions I had. Thank you, Cynthia, for being part of our special day! It was memorable and exciting! Highly recommend Cynthia for your big day!! :) read more

We had a small ceremony at San Francisco City Hall on 4/7/17. Cynthia was wonderful to work with from the start. We met with her at her home months before the wedding and new she was the person we wanted to officiate our wedding. She was warm, calm and professional, which was helpful in putting our nerves at ease on the actual wedding day. She is also very familiar with many of the other vendors who tend to work at city hall weddings often, which was helpful in making everything go smooth the day of the wedding. I would highly recommend Cynthia as an officiant for brides and grooms! She is the best! . read more

Thank you Cynthia, with such little notice she was very responsive, professional and genuine with her work. We needed an officiator last minute and she came to our rescue yesterday. Cynthia was absolutely wonderful to work with, my husband and I needed to find a wedding officiant at the last minute for our ceremony at the SF City Hall and luckily Cynthia had availability to officiate our wedding this past June 1st (little did I know it's the beginning of busy wedding time) I waited until last min and was so nervous about everything and Cynthia was so great in letting my husband and I know exactly how everything would go from start to finish. She sent us sample vows and let us add to and take away from it to come up with exactly what we wanted, and on top of that she offers a great price for city hall weddings. She defiantly made our day great. I would recommend her as first choice to anyone getting married that needs an officiate!! Thank you so much Cynthia!! read more

Cynthia was an incredible officiant for our SF City Hall wedding last week! She was calm, clear, and helpful for my family who didn't know anything about City Hall ahead of time. She's a pro and the highest compliment I can give is that the day of our wedding my husband and I didn't have to answer any questions from Cynthia except to give her our rings to hold. Now choosing an officiant is about the day of, but it's also about finding someone who is communicative and helpful in crafting your ceremony. Cynthia met us ahead of time by phone and was flexible with our schedule. She also sent us example scripts for ceremonies and was completely cool with us coming up with our own spin on things. If you're looking for a professional, excellent officiant, I couldn't recommended Cynthia more! read more

Cynthia was the officiant for a wedding I organized on 9/17/14 for my longest friend (over 44 years). David is living in Cambodia and returned to the US to marry his longtime partner Victor. He asked if he could get married at my home in San Francisco and I jumped at the chance. I immediately reached out to Cynthia, whom I know has performed many marriages and rituals and would be the perfect person to preside over their wedding. I was thrilled that she was available on a couple of different dates options that worked for the grooms. She was helpful with information on obtaining a license (they were able to get an appointment online to get a SF wedding license in advance of arriving in SF), arrived an hour before the ceremony to discuss the process, vows and solicit any customization that they wanted. It was obvious that she has done this many times and she was calm, supportive and encouraging to the grooms. Before we walked out on the deck for the ceremony, she asked, "Who has the rings?" and course they were buried in a suitcase downstairs. Ooops - David ran to go get them. One emergency averted! Her calm and soothing nature as they went through the ceremony and vows was so wonderful and loving and put everyone at ease. And her attention to detail didn't stop there - when the witnesses had to sign the license she was very careful to explain the process, what went where on the form, all to avoid a mistake that could then invalidate the document. All of that was welcome information and made the process so simple. I would ask Cynthia to preside at any ritual. In fact, my partner and I are looking to get married in the next year and of course I will ask Cynthia to be our officiant! read more

My wife and I got married at city hall on 1/29/14. It was important to us to have use of the beautiful building without a plethora of people running around. Our photographer recommended that we hire an outside officiant so that we could have our ceremony after the hours that city hall performs their weddings. I googled and yelped and came access Cynthia Gregory. I quickly emailed her and she happily agreed to marry us. We didn't meet until right before the ceremony yet my wife and I felt comfortable with her immediately. She somehow made a civil marriage ceremony very special and I am so glad we found her. If you are looking for an officiant who knows her stuff and brings a sense of calm and kindness to your special day. Don't hesitate to hire Cynthia! read more

Cynthia officiated our wedding ceremony at SF City Hall and she was wonderful! From the first time we met her several months before the wedding, we knew she would be the perfect officiant. There are a few things that really matter on your wedding day, the actual ceremony was the most important for me. After all we're making promises to each other to last a lifetime. You need someone officiating that process who is a pro. We met Cynthia in her home for a consultation and were instantly comfortable with her warm demeanor. She did a great job reviewing example ceremonies with us, and after we wrote a draft ourselves she provided fabulous feedback on revisions that could be made. Come wedding day she showed up on time and performed the ceremony beautifully. We had many guests tell us afterwards what a wonderful job she did. Two days after our ceremony she emailed us a copy of our signed marriage license & had dropped it off at City Hall. Cynthia is a true professional. If only all wedding-related vendors were as fabulous as she was! read more

Cynthia is wonderful! Cynthia was our officiant for our city hall wedding. We live in Southern California, so everything had to be done by telephone or through emails. We interviewed quite a lot of officiants, but once we spoke to Cynthia we knew we wanted to work with her. She was always warm, inviting, communicative, and responded quickly. She brought such a calming energy to our ceremony, and made the entire process so easy. Book her! read more

One of the key elements of a wedding is the actual ceremony. And one of the key elements of a wedding ceremony is your officiant. You want them to have a specific feeling and as the couple, you need to be comfortable with them. My husband and I married at the San Francisco Film Centre this past September and Cynthia Gregory was our officiant. She was the perfect choice for us. We thought at first about going the traditional religious route but when that didn't work out we decided to find an officiant that could marry us. After meeting with a few that didn't quite feel right we started to get nervous that we weren't going to find the right person but once we met Cynthia all of our fears were for naught. Cynthia is calm and knows her stuff. She helped talk us through the whole process and has performed hundreds of marriage ceremonies. Also, when talking to us she seemed kind which for us was important. She met with us multiple times in preparation as we developed our ceremony structure and was always quick to respond to my emails. She came to our rehearsal and helped us all get everything just perfect so that on the wedding day, it all went off without a hitch! read more

Cynthia! You were beyond amazing. I'm so glad we have chosen you as our officiant for our special day. We hired Cynthia on February 23, 2018 for our intimate wedding in San Francisco City Hall. We rented out the 4th floor balcony, and it was so beautiful. From start to finish, Cynthia was so patient and informative. We live in SoCal, so of course we had to do everything by email or by phone. Which made it a lot easier for me instead of traveling back and forth. But, we talked on phone and met on FaceTime to talk more about us, what we like, type of ceremony. I loved that we were running late a bit from our photos, she was very accommodating, so calm and professional. For the ceremony we had chosen to customize our ceremony and vows, and she made it flow so beautifully. Thank you again Cynthia! read more

Just had Cynthia officiate our wedding this past week and she was amazing! She was extremely responsive from the moment we messaged her over yelp and even provided a lot of insight into how the ceremony was going to work and the filing process afterwards. She showed up about 20 minutes early to the ceremony and made us feel comfortable only after speaking to her on the phone once and a few email interactions. I would highly recommend her to anyone! Cynthia contributed greatly to making our wedding day the most joyful experience of our lives. She was professional, reliable, steady, and nurturing. During the ceremony planning process she offered space for Willie and I to reflect on our relationship, explore how we wanted to symbolize our love, and to set an intention for our future. We will be forever grateful for Cynthia's warm, supportive, and spiritual presence at the commencement of our marriage. I truly could not have married my husband without her! read more

Cynthia has been a real gift in my life. I met her while searching for a non-denominational wedding officiant, with some pagan leanings, to perform something like a traditional Celtic handfasting ceremony. She was flexible as we navigated thru the wedding planning process and she made it very easy for us to craft our own ceremony - she sent us a few different documents with ceremony outlines for us to pick and choose from. I was able to add just the things I wanted, adjust the wording to better suit our needs and to let her be the expert on the best way to take certain steps. Our 15 guest, simple, outdoor hand-fasting ceremony was made absolutely perfect by her attention to what we wanted - including her wearing her "high episco-pagan" robes, and taking the lead when I said, "Okay, let's do this" to start the ceremony. Her voice carries well without being overbearing and her experience with over 1000 wedding ceremonies (maybe even more than 1500 now!) really comes thru with the way she words each section of the ceremony. This woman is the real deal - I highly recommend working with her if you want your wedding to be special, spiritual and just what you might not have realized you wanted. read more

Cynthia did a great job officiating our small (~40 person) wedding in San Francisco. She met with us in her home months before the wedding to talk things through, and was very professional and experienced since she's officiated so many times. We felt totally comfortable with her leading our ceremony, and she was happy to let us customize one of her standard templates to fit our style preferences and traditions. After the ceremony she guided us through the sometimes tricky process of filling out our marriage license and submitted it to the county recorder's office for us. Would totally recommend Cynthia to other couples looking for a reliable and super-experienced officiant. read more

This review is long overdue. We got married 12/19/14 at SF City Hall & we are from southern CA, so we were not familiar with city hall. Cynthia is the best, she made us feel very comfortable.
