It arrived in one day. Their prices are very good, they don't charge for shipping, and they ship unbelievably quickly. I haven't been there in person, but if they are as friendly and responsive in shop as they are by email it'd be worth the hour and a half train ride from where I am now.

I recently went to Hargroves to look for a bike for simple commuter cycling. I would say the shop…read moreis more aimed at the serious cyclist than the casual cyclist, as a consequence the price of the bikes is quite high. Not to say they are expensive in comparison, but they don't really offer much in the way of budget bikes. The staff are very knowledgable, and I found very helpful. We were also able to bargain, as it was around bike end of season time. All in all, good service.

The bike came back with the gears out of line and the front and rear mechs completely bent. When questioned why the gears were still fouling (as this was something I had paid to have rectified) I was told by the resident hipster that his bike made that noise too so it must be fine. If businesses prospered on unjustified arrogence and a commission structure based on how many times you can drop words like "shred" into general conversation then I am sure they will do just fine. However they won't be getting my business again.

The staff here are passionate about cycling as a sport and probably have been since the day they first sat on a tricycle. As well as having a huge range of mountain, racing and all kinds of bikes, they are immensely knowledgeable and good at repair jobs. On the downside, it is often quite difficult to get served you really do have to fight for their attention. Be prepared for a bit of cockney banter and you can even haggle down the price on occasions. This is nothing like shopping at Evans Bike Superstore, but so much more of a personal and interesting experience.
