The hubs and I stopped in here after a day of riding our brand new treasures -Bianchi road bikes - to adjust the stem on my handlebars. Backstory: the shop we originally purchased the bikes from was well meaning, but entirely inexperienced with higher end wheels such as ours, and built them the way a 10 year old might if given a picture and a torque wrench. Rob at Cyclology threw my bike on the rack and quickly started tightening and adjusting, getting it in shape from the miserable (and dangerous!) build it had before! He did the same to my husband's bike, charged us a pittance, and we were on our way with safe, well-tuned bikes. The team at Cyclology comes with a minimal dose of the usual bike-shop attitude, solid service, and most importantly, they actually know what they're doing. I took my bike in to replace my crank arm because the peddle stripped the threads. The company sent me a replacement part and I needed help installing the crank arm. After looking around I found Cycleogical so I took it in to get it repair. The experience was great. I talked to Sean the repair guy and he took care of it right away. He not only installed the new crank arm but he adjusted my breaks as well. In addition to the install he offered suggestions to a rear rack that I'm looking to get too. My wife's bike (that we bought at another shop) had a loose brake pad on her front tire. I brought it to Cycleogical because of their convenient location right in downtown DP. I walked into the bike repair shop, saw the technician already working on a bike and thought "Great, he's probably going to make me leave the bike here for a week because he is busy." Instead, he dropped what he was doing, greeted me, assessed my problem (missing nut on brake pad stem) and immediately began searching his inventory for a suitable replacement nut. While he was searching, first one drawer and then another, I had a moment to look around his workspace. First off, it was spotless, like eat-off-the-floor clean; second thing that really impressed me was how organized it was, every single tool had a specific spot on a peg board on the wall and every tool was in its reserved spot. I had no question about the superb quality work they must do, if that is how meticulous and detailed they are with condition of their repair shop. The technician eventually found the right nut, installed it on my bike and sent me away with a smile and handshake, refusing payment. I spoke to Jeff, the manager, in the retail shop next door and he only increased my satisfaction with Cycleogical - he came out from behind the counter, asked me for my name, shook my hand and thanked me personally for coming in. This bike shop is one of Dana Point's hidden gems. I completely broke my crank off in the middle of a mountain bike ride last week and was up a creek (at one point, literally :-) I was able to hitch a ride to Cycleogical and their excellent mechanic fixed it on the spot so I could continue my ride. I might add, their phone was ringing off the hook and they had other customers, yet they made me feel welcome and prioritized the entire time. I was on a ride from San Diego to San Juan Cap and I broke a spoke on my rear wheel. Called several places and eventually ended up at Cycleogical. Cycleogical is a great bike shop down in Dana Point directly across parking lot from hennesseys tavern. Met the owner bill on a mountain bike ride and visited the shop... as I was looking for a great high end road bike for century and Fondos. After some good advice from the guys at the shop and several test rides, I ordered a new Pinarrello Paris. Road it in gran Fondo Whistler and absolutely love the bike. I've since had cycleogical rebuild my enduro carbon Mountain bike with new Fox fork and ctd shock, carbon bars, New stem and dropper post. They did a great job and my bikes are in top form Thanks to cycleogical. I have recommended this shop to all of my friends. The difference is that they are riders themselves and can really get you to the next level with great suggestions. They aren't just trying to sell the next bike. .. and know who you are.
