How can I put this....CylcleBar in Seattle was such a fun place to visit. The staff is super friendly and willing to help. To be specific, the staff broke a sweat trying to help me. When you first enter the facility it is rather unassuming. The front desk will get you all signed in and have you sign a waiver. Let's be honest, you have to know when to stop and work out at your own pace. Once you enter the back area, where the magic happens, you should notice two really cool things. Number one: the bathrooms are pretty well equip with the comforts for after a sweaty and hard ride. BE AWARE, they do not have a shower on site. Wipes and other hygiene products are available in its place. Number two: you will have your name written on a locker and it is really cute. You get a nice gift bag with a t-shirt, water bottle, hand sanitizer, and something else I forgot at the moment. Highlight for me is that the people are really nice. The trainer who lead us was fearless and inspiring. She actually did the work she requested of us. We have all that trainer who yells at you but then watches you do the work and does not do it with you. This was not the case here. The trainer actually did the hard work and set a great example. I would give it another try when I want to torture myself. You really have to be into this to want to go and workout this hard. So good luck Yelpers! Give them a try and tell them I recommended you :). I don't get a kick back or anything- just think it would be cool is all.

Awesome welcome swag for new riders!

CycleBar is a positive new fitness option open in South Lake Union. It's a small space but they jam pack it with friendly people and fancy perks like free healthy snacks, water bottles, hand sanitizers, and chapsticks. My favorite part is the cold towels they give you when you step out of the studio after your class. So refreshing! It helps to cool down my face and remove all of that sweat so I don't feel icky when I leave. The bikes are nice and easy to adjust. The studio itself has great music acoustics and nice lighting that changes colors and vibrancy as you go through your ride. My only comment here is that the handlebars felt a bit sticky from the wipes used to clean them. I noticed about halfway through my rides that as my hands headed up I felt like they were removing somewhat of a film from the bike. I've tried three classes so far: Connect (a less competitive class that rides to the beat of the music and does more choreography like arm presses and tap backs), Classic (your standard class with great music and a full power board you don't see more than twice), and a 'Wine Down Wednesday' (the classic class but a nice spread of meats, cheeses, wine, beer and other goodies after class...and yes...still free). I enjoy the 'theme' classes they have, like the 'wine down Wednesdays', it gives you a time to socialize and build community instead of just running in and out of the class with no social connection to the people around you. Another ride styles they do on a regular cadence: Mash-Up Monday (songs from two different artists all class), Throwback Thursday (you can guess what that one is), Happy Hour (similar to the Wine Wednesday class), and performance (a class for the competitive rider who likes to focus on power outputs and stats). They also have free intro classes on Saturday! So check it out at no cost! You won't regret it!

Cyclebar is the newest fitness boutique to grace South Lake Union. If I had to compare Cyclebar to other cycle studios around the area, I would say it takes the positive parts of Flywheel and SoulCycle to formulate their class structure. First off, Cyclebar does have a leaderboard, and you can omit yourself from your name being displayed by logging online to your account to change that. Unlike Flywheel, the leaderboard goes by RPMs and other things (that I can't recall at the moment). Also, some instructors will utilize the board to motivate the class by showing the average RMG the class is going at and pushes everyone to work together and increase that average. Cyclebar also does an upper body routine in the middle of the class using 4 and 6 lbs bars. I personally prefer using dumbbells and yes this portion of class is optional. Cyclebar also incorporates choreography similar to SoulCycle (and even City Cycle) where you'll be challenged to do tap backs, figure 8s, isolations and push ups, just to name a few. After the upper body routine the next song is dedicated for the riders to "connect themselves" by riding to your own flow. I like that some instructors do ask you to cover the monitor on your bike with a towel so you won't be distracted on your RPMs and gear. To be honest with you, I have found the instructors at Cyclebar to be a hit or miss. However, if you are looking for someone that makes the class fun and pushes you to work hard, sign up with Erwin! I love his energy, class structure and music. I do encourage people interested in Cyclebar to try different instructors to find one that you'll like. As for amenities, they do have 2 showers, lockers, snacks, and a water station. The only things I'm not too crazy about are how tiny their showers are, and that the locker area is crazy busy. We'll see if the congestion improves now that they are no longer offering the unlimited free classes during their grand opening. Of course parking is a pain in this area so don't get pissed off if you choose to drive on over. You're better off taking public transportation, walking, and/or ride sharing it over getting stuck in traffic. In conclusion, I think Cyclebar is a great place for those who want a mix of Flywheel and SoulCycle in one class. **BONUS** when you leave the studio, the staff hands everyone cold face towels for you to cool down with. OMGawd it feels so good!!!

We took a class with Brittany and she was SO fun! Her playlist was amazing, she remembered all of our name and joked with us the whole class. I also was surprised at how much parking there was around this area! Since it is in a back corner of the Amazon campus, there's actually a ton of street parking spots in the hours after work and during the weekends!

What is the price of one class for out of town folks?

Hi Veena- all new clients get their first ride for $5! Are you looking for more than one ride while you are in town?

    Is there free parking?

Hi there! Unfortunately, we don’t offer parking. There are several paid lots within a block and street parking, which is often available for morning and weekend classes!

The nachos were definitely elevated and high quality, so I really appreciated my low class meal at a high class place! Their wine selection is lovely. I got a pinot noir and a glass of prosecco and both were very impressive. Also, I have to note that the bathrooms here are amazing. Super clean and spacious. I remember the amazing annual father-daughter event, my teen years and even coming back after college and seeing the amazing staff who I had known for so long and was able to hear updates on their life as they asked me about mine. I can't say enough about this place. While there, I trained with guys who ended up in the NBA, and personal trainers who were beyond committed to their practice. It was a great place that I would spend time at studying while I waited for my father to wrap up work and then head home for the evening. As someone who's spent the last 10 years on the east coast, its far more rare that I'm able to come through, but when I do I definitely see that east coast club influence. As others have mentioned, the opportunities that the club provides far beyond its actual location should never be ignored. Whenever my parents come back east to visit me, we always try to stop through NYAC and often use the WAC to make all of our reservations, just as you can make theater and event reservations in Seattle and plenty of other cities.

NW strong is a great option for a no-frills weight-lifting focused gym in Belltown. This place is stacked to the brim with equipment. There are as many squat racks as you can fit in a space like this (9?) and about a dozen benches and tons of options for dumbbells and kettlebells. More than you will see in many much larger gyms. There are also other kinds of equipment like air bike, rower, ski erg, treadmill, bands, sled, TRX straps, and I'm sure some things I'm forgetting. It's a compact footprint and Trevor has done an outstanding job efficiently equipping it to the max. The trainers I've observed here have all be high quality with their own unique style. There is also more of a community here than I think you get with some of the bigger gyms around. From a female perspective I will say that the clientele here is mostly men. There have been many times where the gym was packed and I was the only female present. That said, people here are nice, and respectful overall and it's a good spot to work out. If I lived closer, I'd consider being a member here. I would say the two downsides that may or may not impact you personally are that there is no locker room or shower to speak of (typical commercial building bathrooms shared by multiple tenants in the building) and the space would benefit from a few fans or stronger AC. This is fine 10 months of the year but it can get very stuffy and humid in the hottest days of the summer.

This is my first time to this gym location which is in another side of Seattle about 1.5 miles away from the hotel I was staying in Pioneer Square. My hotel's fitness center was under renovation and when I seen the temporary fitness center, I walked out. I've been to another 24 Hour location in the suburbs of Seattle a few years back, but that would have been a long stretch. Downtown Seattle's gym was lacking a welcoming feel upon check-in, the girl working the front desk failed to acknowledge members walking in or exiting. The gym floors are clean, it smells fresh and sanitized, most machines and equipment are the same as other 24's, but this one had everything equipped for upper body groups. That day I went to work out happened to be leg day. It wasn't a leg friendly gym. Both ground floor and the basement couldn't receive cell signal and the WiFi was not connecting. But at least I had downloaded music and podcasts on my phone to keep me energized. When it came to cardio, there was an abundance of cardio machines. My favorite machine is the StairMaster. Almost all of them were out of service, the only 3 that were operating was occupied with 3 people. The only areas I didn't use were CardioX, swimming pool, and Spin Cycle room. I know that parking is available, because there was a parking validation machine at the front desk. But I honestly don't know why this location is closing on January 16, it seems as though there is a lot of foot traffic during the evening hours as a lot of people are coming from work or school. There are many apartments and luxury condos in the area. But where will the nearby residents go? The next nearest 24 is about the same drive time north of downtown but I'm not sure if I badly need a workout on these short business trips.

3 stars since yes, the gym is not the cleanest and some machines are probably broken (I wouldn't…read moreknow because I haven't used machines in decades) The bad reviews almost discouraged me from going here which is misleading for someone like me who doesn't care if the walls are made of gold and the air smells like roses all the time If the machine is broken, figure out another exercise. There are many sinks if one is out of order move to the next one. If the bathroom doesn't smell great, hold your breath and deal with the 30 seconds of unpleasantness. Sorry they don't have cocktail service during your workout. Yes it's not that well maintained but for just over $300/year it's worth it for me. What people fail to mention is that if you mostly gravitate toward functional training and kettlebells such as myself, this gym is loaded. See pictures below. They have a wide variety of heavy kettlebells which is a rare find, and you can see how much weight can be loaded onto the sled and more. If you're creative, you can get a better workout with a sled and 1-2 kettlebells than you can with any amount of machines. If you want everything perfect at all times and butlers wiping the sweat off your forehead between reps then go to an equinox (if they even exist here) or some other high-end gym and pay $200/month, but for someone like myself who wants a challenging workout and doesn't need the place to be in pristine condition at all times, it's well worth it.
