This was my first experience at CycleBar or any other live spin class in a studio. I have done a few virtual Peloton classes, but being in person is very different! My wife and I both booked a 5:45am class through Class Pass on a Tuesday morning. The class was about 1/2 full. The staff was very friendly and recognized us as first-time guests right when we arrived! They even personalized our free lockers with our names. We got a tour of the building and we're shown how to clip in to the bike, adjust the bike, and what weights were available at our bikes. The personalization and hospitality is absolutely 10/10 from this location. The space is small, but it never felt crowded. It's a bit cold in there, but you warm up eventually. The music was rocking, our instructor Nicole was very motivating, and the workout was intense! I was very impressed with my experience and will likely return for another awesome workout. I'm curious about how fast classes fill up in the afternoon/night though since this is such a great location. read more

My husband and I visited Cyclebar for the first time this morning through ClassPass. I've been to a handful of cycling studios in the past, and, like the other studios, this was a wonderful experience! If it is your first time visiting, the front desk team member greets you, shows you around, and helps you get adjusted to your bike. The instructor also came by to introduce herself, which was really nice! Cyclebar has free shoes that you can borrow (or you can bring your own), and plenty of locker space for every person. I believe there were a total of 42 bikes in the studio, and I think it says a lot when probably 75% of them were full at 5:45 am a couple days after Christmas! The instructor, Nicole, was an amazing instructor. She gave you instructions for what speed and heaviness your bike should be at, but never pressured anyone! At the very end, she showed the leaderboard so you could see where you were at compared to the rest of the class (note: you can opt out of being on the leaderboard when you check in), which gave me a lot of motivation at the end! Overall, this was a really great workout! You could make it easier or harder based on your skill level and how hard you wanted to push yourself that day. So we came in for their 30 minute free beginners tutorial. Since we're all about trying to stay fit and all specially with summer fast approaching. Why not right!? We walk in and they greet us very warmly, gave us a nice water bottle as a gift for coming in and trying them out. They also had loaner shoes for us to wear too. Since the shoes have to attach themselves to the pedal. These are apparently not your ordinary leisure time stationary bikes. Anyways, our instructor had us all in the front because there was roughly 6 or 7 of us who signed up for that segment. The atmosphere was really cool. The instructor was definitely super nice and knew what she was talking about. The intro class was somewhat short. I was expecting to actually get my ass kicked, but the cool down came so suddenly quick. I can only imagine what a real session would be. Probably tons and tons and tons and tons of fun. While in town for work for several weeks, I needed to find a spin studio. I found CycleBar in Northville. They make it easy to join, with lots of class package options. The one I got ended up being super cheap as compared to what you would pay in NYC, etc. It is easy to reserve online and you can also rent shoes. When you show up for your class, your shoes are set aside for you in a cubby corresponding to the bike you reserved. Nice. The bikes are all new are in great working order. It is no fun to reserve a bike, get in to the studio only to find your bike is not working properly. The classes are very good. I had a few different instructors and they were all about the same quality level - very good. Often, you roll the dice and you get some good and some bad instructors. Cyclebar's instructors know how to keep the class moving and make it fun while ensuring you get a great workout. There is plenty of parking out front and if you need an added jolt, there is a Starbucks next door. read more

Spinning at CycleBar is amazing. The experience is so much better than any of the other spin studios in town. The instructors are motivating and inspiring. The vibe in the room is energetic and competitive. Well it can't be fun to have your stats on the board if you're into that kind of thing, you can also opt not to have your numbers on the board. That's usually the way I go because to me I am my own competition. Plus each spin bike will be calibrated slightly different so it's hard to truly compare unless you're on the same spin bike each time and you compare to yourself. After going to CycleBar, It is so much harder to take spin classes elsewhere. And my favorite instructor is Sarah. But most of them are really good. Definitely give it a try... as of now they will give you a free week of rides. Make sure to tell them Jodi Friedman sent you. *** You may notice that I gave the Bloomfield Hills location five stars and this location four stars. Well the instructors are the same because the owner is the same, I prefer the Bloomfield Hills location because it is less crowded and easier to book a bike. Not happy at CycleBar in Northville. The reason I joined CycleBar was because of the fun performance measures that were often presented on the two huge monitors during the ride. Very motivational! I felt Royal Oak did that perfectly! But then I moved to Northville and this CycleBar location completely downplays the importance of viewing where riders stand statically during their ride. I don't understand especially at check-in riders can easily opt-in or opt-out regarding having their numbers shared on the big screens. I noticed that when they finally flashed the results after the ride was already over, 60-75% of the classes I attended opted-IN to see their stats during their ride. I shared my complaint with the GM and owner but unfortunately they blow-it off. If I lived closer to Royal Oak I would be much happier there. Much more professional and welcoming by far! read more

CycleBar isn't just a place to work out, it's a family. We all support each other, the staff knows you by name (and I only go twice per week, but they all know me!) and the workouts are killer. Great cardio alternative to running (which I only can do if someone is chasing me --- knee problems). If I don't go, I get super crabby. Music is key and it's always great. I wear earplugs. If you don't like it mega loud, I recommend them. It's well run, clean, fun, friendly, killer workout, I could go on and on, but you get the picture...................... Also, the Dawn n Dirty class (5:30am or 5:45am) are my fav group, but I'm an early girl! read more

Truly, I am in love with this place! Such a great atmosphere and super clean! I have been going here for about six or seven months and every time I ride, I get such an amazing feeling walking out. Nearly impossible to sign up for their "free" refer a friend class. Can't use your rides at other locations. Don't get stuck in traffic because they won't allow you in 5 min late even though your bike is sitting there empty. Not a welcoming environment at all. read more

Can't say enough about CycleBar Northville! I have been 4 times since it opened and I have loved every visit. The facility is so clean and the staff is extremely friendly. I have loved every instructor I have had thus far, they have a great variety of playlists and they know how to keep you motivated. The online sign-up is so easy, you select a bike online so you can guarantee to sit by a friend if you sign-up at the same time, clean shoes are waiting for you upon arrival, and there is a water fill-up station before you enter the room. I am hooked. I love being outside....but c'mon, this winter is crazy! I was looking for something to help me stay active during this winter and that was actually fun. I am so glad I found CycleBar. I appreciate that all the instructors are very different in their style but all are so kind and fun. I was even moved to take a class in Sarasota CB based on my experience here in Northville. The studio is clean and well put together and trendy looking, it could be intimidating if you aren't used to group fitness, but the instructors smiles and assistants being so willing to help (especially when you cannot get your left foot to click in after trying for 4 minutes...) makes you feel like you have been a valued customer for years. This studio used to be good. It has been going downhill recently. The place is dirty. Smells of sweat,probably not enough ventilation. The bathrooms are really dirty. The staff is very rude. They are cutting corners to maybe make money. Not a place I would want to workout at. They advertise free water bottles, but when you go there, they charge you for those bottles read more

I'm so disappointed that I have to write this review, but CycleBar has left me no choice. I had signed up for a Saturday morning class this passed weekend, and gave myself double the time it would take to get there. Unfortunately, there was freezing rain in the morning and a car was on fire on m14. Needless to say I made it there 9 minutes late and the girl at the desk REFUSED to let me in the class because of their 5 minute policy. While I respect the policy, EVERY policy accommodates for extenuating circumstances. For me to wake up early, drive in such horrible weather, and be told I'm not allowed to enter the class because it's "dangerous" was absolutely appalling. To make matters worse, I emailed the manager Katie, and it's been 5 days and still have not heard back. A simple apology from management would have been appreciated, but that didn't happen, and speaks to their level of customer service and satisfaction. I joined this place the day it opened, and unfortunately I have to say the staff they have to date is rude, disrespectful, and unaccommodating. read more

I love cycle bar and it's a very hard workout and I like that. I think the place is clean and very well organized. Awesome instructors their. I like the free water and water bottle. I only thing I might suggest is some personal training with one of the instructors and to get a workout and to do some bike work and weight work with the bar on the bike. read more
