Had the most terrible experience and the pool today after 20 years of membership . Bullied for chairs, vulgar responses from young people, and stolen property from pool bags. Disrespect behavior, food, glass, in area. Overcrowding by pool passes etc. No policing, no enforcing of policies. I was truly appalled at the crowd and lack of supervision of the kids. Novi Mi? I expect better , or I'm done! read more

The building needs to be refreshed, it is definitely showing its tiredness. They need to install restrooms upstairs as it is a pain to have to go downstairs to the women's locker room to use the sparse restrooms. There are a lot of elderly during the day. The spa definitely needs a makeover. The tech, Phyllis, not only is a nail tech but has a background in podiatry. She is such a sweetie! The LifeTime staff, are very kind, informative and helpful. I hear them call members by name, they stop and chat with you. The instructors actually speak with you when you are new to a class or an event. You can ask questions and talk to them about anything. So far, since this is new I've taken the Arora yoga classes and the instructors are FABULOUS! There are classes for all physical capabilities with zero judgement on what you can or can't do. So far, the facilities used have been clean, in working order and good to go. There is plenty of parking for handicapped, motorcycles and other vehicles in both sides of the building. There is a small cafeteria with a nice selection of beverages, food, snacks and workout clothes. It is immaculately kept. I am not a fan of dressing and undressing in front of all, but that's the way it is. Not a fan. There is shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the showers. The sinks have feminine products, mouthwash, soap, lotion, shaving cream, deodorant, hair spray and hair dryers. If clients would stop taking products, there would be more than one like today. There is a eucalyptus steam room in the lockers, that was an experience, so good. There is a sauna, whirlpool, cold plunge, lap pool, indoor and outdoor pool. This place is family friendly. If you have children, look into their camps and facilities. The staff was very interactive and patient with the little lifers. You must try the hydro massage chair, there should be 5! It's wonderful, oh my goodness. All in all there is something for everyone at the one stop. Like a beautiful diamond, my favorite, it is multifaceted with staff, things to do, a place to eat, pampering services galore etc etc. loving it read more

Fantastic CORPORATE owned gym yes corporate. Don't believe other peoples nonsense reviews like the one below claiming this is a franchise location. There are no franchise locations they are all corporate. What a silly goose. Having been a member here in the past I can say the facility has been treated well and maintained. If you want to go to the gym when it looks best go during the not peak hours. GTX classes is also a fantastic experience if you don't like to workout alone. They have almost one of everything inside this gym even though it's a boutique life time location. Also WiFi is designed to be blocked in locker rooms to help discourage people taking photos in the locker room as it's not permitted. I like that read more

I usually never visit the novi location but I signed up for a Pilates class three days ago here since it fit my schedule. When I showed up, as soon as I walked upstairs there was a foul smell, whatever. When I walked into the Pilates class there were way more people than the registration allows for. You could not even move or find a place for a mat. For what the membership costs, they should really monitor this more. Had to leave without attending the class I drove out of my way for. read more

I've been going to this gym for a few months now, and overall, it's been a great experience. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and has all the equipment you could possibly need. The staff are very friendly too! read more

This gym is super swanky! They have every amenity, and things have been clean, well-maintained, and in good condition. It kind of feels more like a nice hotel than a gym, in some ways. The staff are always really friendly, professional, and upbeat. There is lots of variety in the classes, and I think the quality of instruction is generally really good. There are upgrades for more personalized classes for more $, but try the group classes. You will find some you really like based on the content, fitness level, and teacher. It's easy to register for classes with the ap, and see who is teaching. You'll quickly find favorites! I love the live yoga. It's been so good for me, and the teachers have been excellent and the room is beautiful. SURRENDER is the most relaxing and you can't believe it was an hour! ROOT is my favorite and is challenging but adaptable to lots of levels. Ashtanga Vinyasa pushes me but I still like it. FLOW is the fastest, hardest one. Here's a tip: not for beginners! The SHRED and ZUMBA classes are great, too. The pool is warm in winter, and the jacuzzis are heavenly. There is an AURORA group that's low impact that does pool classes daily at 9:00. The steam sauna makes your skin amazing and is the perfect treat after a workout. The locker room is well-designed, and there are private changing bays. I was afraid the environment would be judge-y because of the high caliber of a lot of the patrons, but I have hardly felt that. You see all levels of fitness here, and everyone is really encouraging. I really feel the teachers want you to be successful, and most are great at giving adaptations so you can participate at your level of fitness. If you are thinking of joining LT, don't let intimidation be the reason to hold you back! I was in tears my first day with anxiety, and it was for nothing! It is a very energizing and motivating environment. You want to be there! Every day you can get 2.5 hours of childcare while you work out, if you need it. They do some really great kids events, too, and parent night outs while you get to date your SO for 3 hours! They also have a big climbing wall and climb nights for the kids. I was able to join with gym pass through our health insurance at a significant discount. See if yours offers that because it can save some serious coin. Kids are $20/month each extra for members. It's definitely better than I knew a fitness center could be. Take a tour and you'll be impressed. read more

When I first joined in 2016 Lifetime was the best bang for your buck even at the higher cost. Covid-19 changed everything. The first thing that they did was get rid of the awesome hammer strength machines for chest and back for inferior knockoffs. They also rolled back the hours from 24 while maintaining the higher fees. Now, leg machines are constantly broken with no repair time listed. This is despite raising fees and shortening hours. Spending $140/month for 2 machines that are the only two of their type to be out of service for over a month is negligent. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way. Half of the membership that used to go regularly in 2022 all left within the last year. There is practically no staff on hand near the gym area to maintain some sense of order. Underaged kids are constantly playing on machines which is really dangerous and seemingly a liability, but nobody cares. This place is more concerned about holding birthday parties for kids than it is about maintaining gym equipment. The outdoor pool used to be open for more than it is now. It's a shame because I made my best gym progress ever at Lifetime and the community was awesome. Right now the gym is dead which is kind of nice since it means that you never feel rushed during your workouts, but there's a reason why it's dead: the equipment isn't very well maintained. For $140/month per person I'd expect better. When I first joined equipment wasn't down for longer than a couple of days. Now I have no clue when a machine will repaired. I would NOT recommend this gym to anybody that is looking to get a decent workout. I wouldn't even recommend it to families. For the same price you could easily go to a YMCA or somewhere else and get something much better. If you're going to be mid-tier version of Equinox then you better have excellent service. As for me I think it's time to join Powerhouse and say goodbye to Lifetime. There is a new one that finally opened about 2 blocks away and I can promise you that the vast majority of people that left Lifetime go there even if the amenities are lacking. I wouldn't use Lifetime's amenities given how poorly cared for the gym is. I remember that when I first joined the lockerooms were spotless. That's no longer the case. read more

I have been a Lifetime customer for over a decade, and I have never felt discriminated against until today, when Lifetime did not have a picture of me in their system. Note my account has never had a picture on my account. I was refused entry to their club after showing my membership card and a government-issued identification card. I am so disappointed in the Lifetime franchise, particularly in Novi, Michigan. I genuinely believe it was racially motivated. Emma Hammond continued to argue with me for over 20 minutes. To have someone go home and come back with proper identification. Still to refuse entry. To be handed a booklet on policy and procedures. To tell someone to take a picture with no ID and then deny entry with a government-issued identification. That speaks volumes. I will not pay where I'm not welcomed. Thank you Emma Hammond. I will not using Lifetime Novi, Mi in the future. For the record I do understand you should I have a photo in the system. read more

This place is a money making business. The last thing in their minds is to provide fitness for their members. They just raised our membership dues and every Saturday when we go to lifetime to play basketball, their money making scheme, rents out the basketball court to birthday parties and we can't play basketball. That is one activity my son and I look forward to every week. Why do they raise our membership dues and minimize the club's offerings!! They would probably tell us in the future to just pay the membership and come certain days of the week to the club because of various events booked by others!! read more

Life Time - Gyms Near Me - Novi, Michigan

lifetime's service in novi is getting worse and worse, the swimming pool is closed early and early, and jacuzzis and steam room are also closed early, when it comes to 11:30 pm, the lifeguards push all the customers to leave, here suppose to be closed at 12:00 am, why they push customers to leave the pool at 11:30 pm? lifetime will loose customers. one worker Becky in women's locker room treats customers so bad. She is always rude to customers, she does not know how to handle with customers. A lot of customers complain about her. I complained about her twice. later she changed. After almost one month, she turned back to normal. One time she almost yelled at me, she said "in three mintues, you need to leave". At that time, just turned to 12:00 am. After that time, she yelled at me two times, so I really can not take this any more, we are customers, she does not know how to communicate with people. These kind of employees need to be fired. because she does not know how to respect people, how to communicate with people. read more

I have been a member for 6 years, prior to Covid this was a 24 hour club, the time that I go into the club it is clean and fresh. I go for the whole experience and enjoy it daily. It's a great way to get healthy if you really are working at becoming more for. I find the Sauna, steam room and the pools to be well worth the price that I pay to help soothe my body after a good workout. People will say what they will, read this and go Experience the club for yourself snd you decide. read more

This review is strictly based of the Spa. Madison is great!!!!!! As confused as I was about the prices/plans/deals, she thoroughly took her time to politely answer my 10+ questions. She also told me some information that I wasn't privy to regarding massages. For example, I had no idea that certain insurances companies, let's say Blue Cross Blue Shield, would cover a portion, or even all of the cost of your massage. (After thinking about it, that makes sense in cases like sports injuries, ect..) but Madison was also able to set up my appointment with Brandon who was excellent. I had a 60 minute full body massage and I desperately needed it. He did a great job, and was hilarious. Id recommend him when choosing a Masseuse/Masseur. Overall I had a great experience. I know they're a lot of people angry about the price, space and kids everywhere, but when it comes to the day spa, lifetime has struck gold. read more

I wanted to update my review with lifetime fitness. Back in April 2023, LTF went through a renovation of their exercise area. It's much better, the loud music is contained in an area separate from the exercise equipment. This has resulted in a much more pleasurable experience for member's including a cleaner area for workouts. No more carpet. Thank you to management for listening and rectifying the previous situation. read more

Been a member for over five years and this place is going down hill FAST. Primarily it is the local management and the staff not doing there jobs which ultimately is a corporate issue to oversee the local clubs but that does not happen. The place used to be a lot cleaner and now it is disgusting. Nothing is done on the weekends (No Management Oversight) and if you want the sink or mirrors cleaned you have to do it yourself. Locker & Steam room never get touched until after the weekend. Repeated complaints using the process to no avail even left messages for the GM to call me directly and no calls. If you join the Novi club do not expect to have a clean club as this is ground zero for the next pandemic. read more

I've been coming to this gym for years before Covid and honestly I feel like Covid ruined it. Not being open 24 hours anymore isn't worth the price being charged. No rush here after work for a quick workout and was so excited to use the hot tub because they were still open for 45 more minutes and was told the hot tub closed an hour before close. This is not listed anywhere in the building I specifically looked everywhere for hours listed. Still a nice gym and friendly staff but there's absolutely no reason to close amenities an hour early. read more

I love this gym I've been a member for a couple years now, but they recently changed their prices to 95$ per month I believe. During covid they changed their hours to close at 10pm, which is fine but covid ended and they still haven't changed back to a 24 hour gym. Keep in mind a lot of other lifetimes are 24 hours now. I don't understand why I would pay an increase of price if they aren't even following the basics of other lifetimes and being 24 hours. I usually work late at my business till 10pm everyday, and I used to come after work to wind down for the day and now I'm unable to do so. It's really frustrating, I think I'll cancel my membership here and get one where it's actually 24 hours still. read more

This gym's management is a JOKE! As a diamond member I would have expected some quality service here but EVERYTIME I have called this gym, either the manager is not available, the voicemail is not monitored or the person is on vacation. I never get a call back despite my voicemails and when I go in person to ask for a contact info, their '"internet and phone are down". The diamond member parking is also gone. The popular group fitness classes are slowly disappearing. Lifetime corporate if you are reading this message, then INTERVENE before this becomes a low budget local gym. read more

Life time fitness is a huge ripoff. They charge twice as much as LA fitness for very little increase in amenities. You can get a membership at LA Fitness for 45 vs 80/mo at Lifetime fitness. You can also bring in a friend every time you come into LA fitness. It's more places to go through out the country all paying the same price at LA fitness. Lifetime fitness wants to charge you different prices for different levels just bc they paid more for the property. You can waste your money at Lifetime or save it and get more at LA fitness! read more

As WHO decalared coronovirus as a Pandemic, guess what, Lifetime Fitness doesn't give a shit. I spoke to one of the member services & he says "sir we have had only 2 cases so far. We are one of the cleanest places with all the measures taken. There is a lot of panic & its just a flu. Seasonal flu kills a lot of people. You need to let us know 30 days before to freeze the account". (we had more than 12 cases following that day). So according to them, I need to predict 30 days before that virus will infect our state soon. I completely disagree with this person. This shows clearly he wants money & doesnt care about human lives. This is a serious situation & we all need to act toghther. We cannot afford to go to large gatherings as it can spread easily. Also, infected people come to know only after many days. That is the worst thing about this virus. The gym doesn't have any value towards human lives. If we freeze the account they will still charge $10 monthly. Lol. Rip Off. read more

Ah, meh. Don't get me wrong, Lifetime still trumps any other gym in the area - something about this one I just don't care for. I am used to Canton, and in comparison this one feels smaller, dingier, and less kept-up. Pros: - The yoga studio! I much prefer taking yoga classes here over anywhere else. The studio is actually secluded and its own space, in Canton it is right next to the free weight area and you can always hear the buzzing out there. This one is serene perfection. I have my own (because ew, sweaty germs), but they have plenty of mats, blocks, straps, pillows, blankets, etc. Anything you'd want or need. - The Zero Runner equipment - this thing is an awesome work out without the strain on your joints. - Lots of rowing machines! My fave! I take classes with my friend in Canton, but when it is just me & hubby doing our thing we come here. It is within a mile from home, and if I want to just chill in the sauna at night I'd rather come here because it is closer. The pool area is a total dude fest though, there are barely ever any women in there - which is kinda weird and potentially uncomfortable if you care about that sorta stuff. read more

My husband has been going to Lifetime in Novi for just over 3 years. He hasn't really had many issues going there, he just gets his workout in and leaves. Every once in a while he'll stop at the cafe to get some lunch or a shake after a workout. Today he stopped there to grab a salad for lunch, and he ordered me an açaí bowl as well. On their website, their açaí bowls are beautiful... well, unfortunately that is not what we got. I have attached a photo of the açaí bowl we received. Absolutely disgusting - it looks like dog food, or even a bowl of feces. I'm not sure who made this bowl, but can't imagine someone thinking this is ok to send home with someone who paid for this. I will NEVER ask my husband to purchase anything else from this cafe. read more

Overall a decent gym and easy to use equipment. My issues are the bathroom looks rough. Urine all over toilets. The weirdos that cut through the family locker room to get men's. Seems kinda pedo. If you don't belong in there stop being a creep and walking in. Wow...it's been 2 years since I reviewed LTF in Novi. It's still the primary location that I go to but I have moved to Royal Oak since then. The reason I'm knocking it down 1 star is that it seems like it's dirty. Quite a difference from when I first joined. I get that it's a gym & I often go at peak times, but there is plenty of staff milling around to clean up. The treadmills are usually pretty gross by 5-6pm. I've only seen a guy wiping the bases off one time. The women's locker room is also pretty nasty most of the time. It's not uncommon for the bathroom stalls to have toilet paper on the floor, pee on the seats, out of toilet paper, and 1 stall is usually out of order. The sinks aren't much better. For what members pay, I think this is unacceptable. There are plenty of dirty gyms I can go to & pay a lot less. The only reason I'm not knocking more stars off is because I still like their classes, and treadmills (even though they're dirty). The newer treadmills have pretty cool technology that allows you to run through different courses around the world with POV screen. They also have a great variety of classes that I enjoy. Also, I really appreciate the free towels & lockers, as well as wipes to clean the machines before/after each use. read more

Cali transplant and newly Michigander here, just wanted to say this gym is the best around town. Hands down. I'm glad I live literally across the street, otherwise I would never hit the gym. And yes, I still drive here even though it's jogging distance from me. Don't judge. This place reminds me of 24 hour fitness back home, except this place is HUGE. It has 2 levels which contain an indoor AND outdoor pool (which kids and tourists tend to use). They also have watersides that once again, kids and tourists tend to use. I like the dry/wet sauna and jacuzzi, as any asian would. They have huge sports center that includes rock climbing, basketball courts, and racket ball. The lockers are free to use with the membership card with provided lock/key. They got a cafeteria for "healthy" eats and a spa area for a hard earned massage following your work out, which I'm not sure is a good idea or not. Upstairs is your work out classes, free weights, machines, and treadmills. I never feel that I have to wait for a long period to use anything cuz I can occupy myself with something else, but if you go during PRIME TIME (i.e.: 4-6PM), then that's something else. The gym is well ventilated which is a PLUS for me. Nothing worse than getting a whiff of B.O. after gasping for air while jogging on the treadmill. The only downside is the membership price. If you're not a baller, it might not be ideal. Memberships range $70/month/person and $60/month/person in a family plan. There is also an activation fee sometimes. If you want to put your membership on hold, it's $10/month to avoid the re-activation fee if you decide to totally quit. I guess in the end, you pay for quality. If you're pinching pennies, there's Planet Fitness or LA Fitness. Your move. read more

I'm downgrading my review (from 3 stars to 1) for one reason and one reason only. This location is downright filthy. The men's locker room is absolutely unsanitary. Used towels, bathing suit bags, and garbage cover the floors and changing benches. The same can be found in the shower area, and as well as the area outside of the steam room. However, the restroom facilities make the rest of the locker room seem as clean as a hospital. The toilets are often surrounded by the same used towels, bathing suit bags, and garbage - with the addition of urine and feces all over the toilet seats and surrounding area. There are only three toilets, and one is almost always clogged. Since there's no other restroom at this location, you're s.o.l. if nature calls. I've voiced my concerns to front desk employees on at least three occasions, but nothing has changed. Other reviews on Yelp reiterate the issues with cleanliness at this club. It is a shame that nothing has been done despite this being a "known" issue for years. read more

This is the best gym I've been to hands down, it's a little pricier that your cheaper alternatives but you get what you pay for. The locker rooms are first class, always neat and clean here, also the wet sauna is awesome. Not really sure how I am feeling about this gym. I signed up for a membership here almost two months ago mainly for the hot yoga classes, which I really do enjoy. The teachers are great and the energy is amazing after a long day at the office. There are some little things that make me not LOVE this place and only give it three stars. 1. The people at the door scanning cards are not friendly like at all. I have never seen them smile. If you are going to greet people at the door you should make them feel welcomed. That's just good business. 2. The bathrooms are disgusting. I am at the gym around 6pm which I understand are peak hours for them but they really need to do something about the bathrooms. The individual stalls are down right filthy. There is water everyplace from people that were in the pool, there is toilet paper stuck in the water (if there even is toilet paper), it smells, and since there is sometimes a line. 3. The class schedule doesn't accommodate for people who get out of work early during the week and would like to go to a class at 5pm instead the 6:15pm yoga class is PACKED! This location also doesn't offer very many classes on the weekends or on Friday's. The last yoga class is at 4:30pm on Friday. 4. Parking is also somewhat of an issue and the parking lot can get very busy around peak hours. I am hoping all these things improve once school starts up again and there aren't as many college students, there aren't little kids in the day care program, and the pool is closed. read more

Soooo, I have mixed feeling about this location. It's the closest to my house, but I choose to go to Commerce or Canton over this one. Actually when I workout near home, I choose Planet Fitness over this place. It has all the wonderful Lifetime perks: Salon, cafe, pool, locker rooms, sauna ect... But the vibe is just off. The staff seem unpleasant, the place seems kinda dirty and the lighting is darker than most. It's also off of Haggerty Rd which is always a slow commute & too much traffic for my liking. I'm glad I have the gold membership to be able to enjoy working out at other Lifetime Fitness locations. I highly suggest paying the extra $10 to be able to visit all their gyms & find which one suits your needs best. read more
