Soooo, I have mixed feeling about this location. It's the closest to my house, but I choose to go to Commerce or Canton over this one. Actually when I workout near home, I choose Planet Fitness over this place. It has all the wonderful Lifetime perks: Salon, cafe, pool, locker rooms, sauna ect... But the vibe is just off. The staff seem unpleasant, the place seems kinda dirty and the lighting is darker than most. It's also off of Haggerty Rd which is always a slow commute & too much traffic for my liking. I'm glad I have the gold membership to be able to enjoy working out at other Lifetime Fitness locations. I highly suggest paying the extra $10 to be able to visit all their gyms & find which one suits your needs best. read more

Fresh weekly flowers in the ladies locker room. I like that extra touch, so thank you. The facility is always clean and there's so much variety in their equipment! It keeps my work out routine fresh. I also utilized their lifetime bucks for their 1 hour massage spa service. Their massage tables are heated and I was in heaven. My massage therapist Meredith squeezed out all my shoulder and knee aches and I was relaxed for days. Also-I'm a big fan of your cucumber water. It's the best way to end a delightful visit to the spa. So all in all if you want a good place to work out, this is an excellent option. It's a bit pricey but they offer classes like yoga and Zumba that you can take advantage of. (Included with your price). Just ask for their printed schedule or download their app. I personally believe you make the most out of your money so take advantage of what they offer! And if you're quitting because some lazy people before you threw towels on the floor... I think you're going to lifetime for the wrong reasons. I've been a member of LTF for 3 months and absolutely love it. I just moved to Northville and was looking for a place to take exercise classes. I was thinking about the Northville Rec Center because they have unlimited classes for $50/month (but have maybe 2-3 classes a day to choose from). However, when I went to LTF for a tour, I realized I could get access to unlimited classes (~10+/day) and an entire 24 hr facility for only $55 a month.I also received many personal training sessions which were very very helpful. Jeff is an enthusiastic, honest, motivational, and dedicated trainer. Thank you man! I just bought a Polar heart rate monitor watch from the gym on one of their 90 day weight loss challenge sign up fairs and was able to get a discount off of the watch and the calorie/cardio point testing. I also use their Vanilla Fast Fuel Shake Powder and it is pretty darn tasty! I usually blend it with strawberries and mangoes for a quick breakfast to have on drives to work. If you have a personal trainer, you get 10% off certain products in the cafe. Their products are a bit pricey. A 1 month supply of Fast Fuel is ~$50, the watch was ~$150, and each test is ~$100. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place. I gave them my first 5 star because I am truly satisfied with what I am getting. The class instructors are awesome and the personal trainers are great. They have an in house cafe and salon, and cleanliness is never a concern. PS. For families: They hold birthday parties and summer camps here! And it is soooo freakin cool. If I was a little kid, I would love to climb their rock wall and have cake too! Canceling my membership after two years. The place is always crowded, and the locker rooms are dirty from the sheer amount of use they get. Why is it that one stall in the men's room is always either clogged or out of order? Much of the staff seems to have an attitude, or is not interested in going out of their way to assist you. This is especially true of the personal trainers (who charge additional $$$ outside the membership fee). I was doing an exercise and was approached by one of the trainers who proceeded to tell me my form was bad and I was at risk for injury. When I asked him what I was doing wrong and for some pointers on form, he said "I can get you my business card and you can give me a call", then walked away. Ok... Thanks... I guess?? Bottom Line: Not worth it for the family membership of $150 a month. Other local gyms charge significantly less for the same amenities. 2/5 read more

One of my friends' families had a membership, and I loved going as a guest. I plan on getting my own membership soon, once I am back home. Though it is a bit pricey, so I may have to wait until I have more money. The facilities are always really clean, and they offer every machine that I would need to workout. There is even an outdoor pool with a water slide! Everything is kept very clean, and there is so much space. I never had to wait for a machine, and it was never too crowded when I was there. They even offer classes for a pretty good price. All in all, probably the best workout chain that I've been to. You definitely get what you pay for. read more

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. This club didn't record my information correctly even though I came in in person to change it and charged me without notifying me that my account was coming off hold. Refused to refund. Sarah Henry the account manager could have cared less. So they lose a customer of many years. And seeing many of these reviews it looks like I'm not alone. Skip this place....shady billing practices and terrible customer service aren't worth it. This place just wants to attract new customers and the paperwork is not clear. Clearly they want to make it extremely difficult to end or change your membership which is exactly how they end up screwing you out of money. That's sooo deceptive! The corporate office was the same. And now seeing recent reviews it looks like there might be cleanliness issues as well. They upped their prices too without any real explanations. They will make you jump through hoops to cancel or change and if they decide to not put information in correctly they will place the blame on you and keep charging you with no refund!! So heed the recent reviews!!! Better yet....pay $30 for a year long membership to the many state parks and get outdoors for a run or walk or bike ride to get a workout with no extra charges or weird loopholes! You'll save money, have better air to breathe and much better scenery without having to sign your life away! Extremely disappointed with my experience at Lifetime. I signed up for membership.and made my appointment with the trainer. I was assured the trainer would be able to create a workout that would fit my physical limitations. Unfortunately I left the training session early and in pain. I emailed to cancel my membership and was pressured to give them a second chance. I agreed to try a different trainer, but was unable to make that appointment. I again asked to cancel my membership and was told I needed to give 30 day notice and that they would not honor the date of my first request. Now I'm out $150. We are new to the area and wanted to find a gym to join. My husband bought a membership and I was using his guest pass. Brooke at the front desk was literally the rudest person I've met. She didn't believe that I was over the age of 18 (I'm 22 and married and my husband was with me??) and I didn't have my ID on me because who brings their ID to go to the gym? She wouldn't accept any proof that I was over the age of 18 except for my license that I didn't have on me (keep in mind we live about 25 minutes away). But as we were trying to figure out what to do she let others in with a guest pass without having to check their IDs. I ended up leaving because obviously I was upset- my husband scanned his pass and she made him show her his ID. But no one else has to!! I was a member at a different life time 3-5 years ago. I canceled because of the price back then. I went ahead and signed back up at a different club because it was a little cheaper and I was convinced by a friend to join when I joined I was thinking I had a 7 day cancellation policy for a full refund just in case I didn't like what was there. I ended up deciding to cancel and I was told that I could not get a refund at all because I was a member in the past at lifetime so the 7 day cancellation policy does not apply to you. I just lost $250 to a gym I stayed with for 5 days because I was a member years ago at another location! Everything that you can ask in a gym is here. The facility is huge with all the imaginable equipment. Plenty of classes, swimming pool, basketball court and other stuff. Mostly the facility is clean but of course it is a large gym with hundreds of people coming in daily so there will be times when you'll see some untidiness around. The gym area can get crowded but I haven't had to wait for too long to get to an equipment. The cafe is pretty decent too. I have had a few protein shakes and food items and they are generally decent tasting. It all comes at a price but I think it is totally justified. You can design an amazing workout program for yourself at this gym. If you're in the vicinity of this gym I would recommend you give it a try. read more

The Life Time Fitness facility in Novi, MI is excellent. So much to do, including a wide array of cardio machines like treadmills, ellipticals, cycles and stairs - you can always find one open. Three pools, including a nice outdoor pool, as well as whirlpools. The locker rooms are clean, spacious, and well-maintained. A great selection of classes. I took a challenging Mat Pilates class with a fantastic teacher. Haven't tried the climbing wall yet, but looks like fun. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I had a great experience working with Account Manager, Matthew Mazi. Overall, I would highly recommend. read more

Honestly been to the Canton and Novi location. Was a member for at least a year and then realized was paying way too much money for the facility. Could never find someone help you on a machine you were not familiar with unless you made and (appt) the pools were always not available as there were having this class or that class even though the pool was supposed to be always available. Been going there since it opened. It's been nothing but downhill since and has gotten worse under the new manager. Over-priced and keep raising dues and getting less. Worn out building like the work out instructors. Commerce is a much better club with better instructors, cleaner and a lot more friendly. Doesn't meet the "Novi" standard and would expect more from an organization that boasts their progressive health care approach. You need to start over with this club. read more

WORST GYM EVER! My fiance and I went on a tour here, hoping to become a member... but it was the worst experience of our lives! At the time, I was plus sized and looking for a gym to work off the baby fat from my pregnancy. The lady at the front desk would not talk to me! She was too busy making goo goo eyes at my man, and when I'd ask her a question she literally would answer to him or ignore me all together. My fiance would then ask if she heard me, and she would roll her eyes and say 'i'm sorry, what did she ask'. That bitch heard me. Before some one came over to give us a tour, my fiance said he would be telling her boss about how she treated me. She simply smiled at him and then looked at me and gave me a horrible look! I already didnt want to workout here!!!! But I was really excited about getting back in shape, so was trying to be optimistic once the tour came. A man came out and told us to go to his office. One in there he went over what the gym has to offer, then took us for a walk around. Every single girl in there was not working out! They all had on workout clothes, but there hair and makeup was all one up! Okay.. Weird. None of them were working out either.. They were all standing around equipment gossiping! Still trying to be optimistic though. So as we finished up the tour, we went back to his office, and he told us the prices. WOW! So expensive and NOT worth the price! We declined, said we had to think about the cost, and left. One of our friends had a membership, and said we just had a bad first time experience, the gym was great, and to prove it to us, they took us as a guest. When we went in to work out, I again realized no one was there to really workout! This gym is a social club! Men and women go there to meet people, and gossip, and go to the spa. They employees through out the gym and at the front desk made us feel awful! They kept pressuring us to buy a membership, and if we didn't then we would never be allowed back.. Who cares! My friend got in trouble for bringing guests that didn't want a membership. The way they treated all of us there made her cancel her membership and go to a different gym. THERE IS NO REASON FOR THEM TO TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY THEY DO CONSIDERING HOW MUCH THE COST OF THIS GYM IS!!!!!!! NOT WORTH GOING TO. Life Time Fitness is a first rate gym. You definitely pay the price for all of the amenities. I was a member for almost 6 years. When I canceled due to financial hardships, I was notified I would still have to pay for an additional month (almost $60!!!) because I did not give a full month's notice. They said all of the information was in my contract that I haven't looked at since my initial sign up. No support from corporate so I'm out $60 even though I canceled prior to the billing cycle. This place is awesome! I signed up about 2 months ago and it's huge! The Personal Trainers are so nice and will help you with a machine if you need help. Also the pool and jacuzzi are so nice as well. My sister had a massage at the life spa and she said it was really good. Also the life cafe has really good food. I had the chicken quesadilla and it had really good flavor. I've also had the pesto which also was amazing. Overall it's a very nice place and they even have sports you can sign up for. I come about 3-5 times a week and I love it there! read more

This place is absolutely horrible. I was signed up last week and tried to take my wife the other night for a short tour. They do not let guests in after 9pm (which is the only time the club actually becomes empty enough to workout in), but prospective members should know! There is nothing on the agreement nor in the lobby. They have to take it from some secret drawer to show customer that. The front desk is horrible too. They do NOT really care about customer at all. I'm not gonna pay for 100+ monthly to receive the crappy service. If you read this review, trust me, stay away from this place. read more

Bunch of rude people are managing this club. My family and I have been a member of Life Time Fitness for many years at other locations and absolutely loved it. Recently moved to Novi, MI area and joined the Novi club, and we (my family and I) hate it. The managers, teachers at child care, Kids academy person... all bunch of rude people. We enrolled our daughter in Kids academy at this club and drop her at the child center almost daily. The activity teachers are mostly 5-10 mins late and end classes early. The lady who checks kids in to the Child center is super rude. We have spotted her shouting at kids a multiple times. Today the activity teacher for my child told her that she is too tired to teach today. Seriously? Can't deal with this anymore. Not returning to this club again. read more

My husband and I have been going to Lifetime Fitness for a little over 2 years now and we love it! We actually left here a year ago to go to Planet Fitness for about 10 months, we hated Planet Fitness compared to Lifetime, and then re-joined last Fall again. There are several things I love about this gym; it's huge - so much equipment that you generally don't need to wait for anything (especially cardio), cafe inside the gym, unlimited classes, indoor leisure pool, lap pool and outdoor pool with water-slide and the locker rooms have free lockers - you don't need to bring your own lock and free towels plus they use JR Watkins products which are great .... and they have a sauna there! They also have a SPA, basketball courts, rock climbing, salon and kids area where the staff watches your kids up to 3 hours I believe..... they offer a lot for the money. Now, a lot of people complain that it gets busy and sometimes the staff doesn't keep everything that clean. I work out in the mornings (around 6-7am) when it's mostly dead and the staff is right on top of everything and cleaning the bathrooms/locker room. It's nice since I can take a shower and get ready there. Oh, and the locker rooms have nice hair dryers, cotton swabs, lotion, gel, shampoo, body wash, razors and tampons all there for you. So incase you forget something, they have you covered. It's so easy to take a shower and get ready from there to go to work. And I go at the busiest time (6-8pm) where it gets a bit hectic bc some people are just slobs and don't pick up after themselves or their kids. But, I always see a locker room attendant and plenty of staff everywhere. If you go between 6-8pm - it's gonna be packed b/c everyone is getting off work. Their unlimited classes are awesome! I use them a lot ... it's fun to try new things. I love the Zumba, variety of Yoga classes and now they are doing Insanity! How much do we pay? For a couple it's about $120/month that includes EVERYTHING mentioned above + when you sign up they give you free personal training session and other stuff. And they have several times throughout the year when you can enroll for free. It's well worth it considering all the things the gym offers you. I use to pay $40 for Anytime Fitness that doesn't give you anything and it was a tiny gym. I pay a little more and get all the great amenities. So, if you're thinking about signing up and if it's worth he money - it definitely is. read more

I love Lifetime Fitness facilities. The lockers are clean, towels always available, but it is crowded depending when you go, and a bit pricey. If you just need a place to exercise and will not enroll in all the classes available, then this is going to be a waste of money. But it is a fun place to see and be seen... I loved the fact that there is a snack bar and saloon. The pool is very nice but during the family swim hours, it tended to be a bit hectic. The outdoor pool was fun, but you need to arrive really early, the space is very limited. One major issue, when I got my membership, I was able to go to other facilities under the same level, but with the progressing updates in other facvilities, I ended up losing privilegies in several places overtime. In despite of all that, if you're pool fan and want the other perks that comes with this club, it is very worth, otherwise, as many noted, if you just need to burn calories, you can go else where or run around your block, who needs a gym? read more

The gym itself is good. Nothing bad to say about the staff or trainers in classes. However, you need to be careful with your belongings. Last winter, I put this beautiful red coat at the locker, it was broken into and even took away my membership card with the locker to erase the evidence. Of course I didn't get my coat back. Since then I don't bring anything valuable into the gym, put stuff in the trunk, and keep the key with me in a small pouch at all times in the gym. Just be common sense, don't assume the locker locks well. I sometime saw lady with LV purse and Gucci luggage bag and just lock in the locker. I did warn her so she stopped doing that. read more

DO READ THE OTHER EXPERIENCES POSTED HERE. It was my misfortune to get drawn into the web of deceit and rampant duplicity at this place which is smartly concealed under a veil of grandeur. My experience with my membership here has been horrible. I went for a visit to this facility and took a tour with a sales rep, who convinced me to take up a membership. I had come to Michigan for just a few months and had clearly stated my intentions to the rep before joining. I was told that I can cancel anytime without any specific reason. However, when the time finally came to cancel my subscription, the customer service personnel told me that I was in a 12-month loyalty program that needs a full 12 months of membership before cancellation. I took the matter up to the manager but did not get any response from Lifetime for more than 2 weeks. Ultimately, I had to go to the center and painstakingly convince them with all the documents proving that I am moving out, and only then did I finally got rid of the contract. But they tried to their fullest and till the last moment to keep me in the membership (and get the only thing they care about, money). read more

Absolutely love the group fitness classes here so my review is based solely on that aspect. My favorite instructors are Beth K (cardio resistance training - a full body cardio/strength interval class) and Michelle B (cardio resistance training, barbell strength, lifebarre), and Vanessa S (street vybe). Lifebarre with Michelle is amazing. I've taken many barre classes before (Flybarre, Purebarre, Physique 57) and Michelle's classes are right up there with those except it's included in your membership and you don't have to pay $25+ per class! Street Vybe with Vanessa is a top 40/hip hop dance class that is lot of fun and not intimidating. I have no prior dance background and after the first class, you definitely become more comfortable. It's a great way to work different muscle groups. My only complaint is the women's locker room. There never seems to be any towels during the late morning hours... Not sure what's up with that. The showers could also do with some more frequent cleaning. A lot of them smell like mildew and mold. read more

Lifetime fitness is the best gym around and by far beats la fitness. I will continue to be a member as long as I live in the area. The equipment is always clean and there are a huge selection of classes to choose from. The bathroom and locker rooms are nice and clean too. I'm looking forward to utilizing the outdoor pool this summer too. Only downfall is the membership price...for a 2 member family it's $125. In the men's locker room a few times a week, you will find human feces that has dried up on the bench. The same bench where people sit, put there gym bags on etc... I have mentioned this issue to the staff and they will clean it up but I am not sure if they are using the appropriate cleaning products. Also most importantly, the staff doesn't seem to care. What a horrible place! Outrageous management! Before you read this review I want to mention that I don't want anything from that place and the only purpose of it for people to know the truth about Lifetime Club. Some time ago my friend invited me to try Zoomba class in this fitness as a guest. So we did, I signed quickly some form at the entrance & filled in some personal info. Just a couple weeks before my birthday I got a PERSONAL INVITATION TO TRY A WEEK OF MEMBERSHIP WITH MY FAMILY FOR FREE. (The paperwork had a date and my name on it) So on my birthday, I went in the pouring rain to try it. Right at the entrance, as soon as receptionist saw this invitation I got the evil glare, knowing look & a phrase "we have another one of those!" when she called for reception supervisor. Thinking it's just THAT person. I was patiently waiting for shift supervisor to come & help me to fill my form for a week trial. Manager came and took my driver's license and asked me "what I am doing here?" I politely answered that I came here on my birthday as it was mentioned on invitation for a trial of this fitness club. He looked at me in horror; like I stole something or killed somebody... looks between the staff were exchanged. "Maaam, you need to wait here. Don't move! (????) Somebody going to see you! I waited patiently again for another 10 min. The man came & with a hateful face told me "Come to my office!" No smile or hello, no how are you or what's your name.... The whole conversation started from "you know, you are breaking the company code..." All I was able to put "what?!?!" He said, that I am breaking some rules, by just showing up with this invitation, taking somebody space & time, not going to use this invitation just BECAUSE I was there before (my little phrase "that's how you got my info" did do anything), there is a sentence in a little font mentioning once in 6 month visit on the original form I signed as a guest long time ago. My invitation didn't have anything like that, but it is my entire fault. We said the invitations were send to EVERYBODY! (Wow!) Even with that invitation I am not going to be able to use anything, but running machines or weights (no pool, no classes, no anything...My third and last little question through his accusations "Why would you invite me on my BIRTHDAY TO JOING YOU & THEN KICK ME OUT?!? The invitation had my name and the dates (personalized!) Then his waterfall of nastiness would not stop: I got so much dirt on me, like never before in my life. Remember he didn't know even my name! Who I am!? Or I even had a chance to answer any blames... The last & finalizing phrase of his speech was "I have to escort you out of the building!" All this time I was standing like a schoolgirl in the principal's office, at the time he was sitting at his desk with the doors closed. Then he literally stood up and moved me by the shoulder... I walked out to the same pouring rain, sat down in my car & cried.... I cried from helplessness, from empty stupid accusations of something had nothing to do with me. More I thought about it, more it looked like well planed & practiced speech. The way the whole thing happened, I looked like I was not the only one. The little phrases from the membership guy like" The company send it to some *** like you, then we don't want to support it." What a way to treat the customers!!! What a way to bring more members PS The same evening at my big birthday party I asked my friends if anybody had same experiences. Sure enough ...
