Sadly I can only review TRYING to sign up for a class there. Stopped in twice around 730 and 830p as classes were switching and ending. Weirdly no one was at the front desk the first time. Stopped in an hour later and someone wandered up to hurriedly help. Asked about taking the free intro class. Asked if she could help us get signed up for the next morning class. Instead of helping she pointed to a picture WAY up high on a shelf and said "take a picture of that and follow those instructions, that'll get you signed up." I asked can't you help us do it now? She responded by pointing to the picture and saying "Just follow the instructions." No thanks. Not the first impression we were looking for.

Happy Hour Class! Makes it worth coming on a Friday night for a kick ass workout

First time at the CycleBar and certainly not my last. After a friend referred me, I took advantage of the first class free offer and gave it a try. I have never experienced anything like this! Being a first-timer, I was able to jump right in with no issues. They provide you with cycling shoes that attach to the bike, pretty easy to clip on and off. The bikes measure your heart rate, calories and RPM, occasionally your ranking pops up onto the screens in the front of the room which for anyone competitive, like me, pushes you to go harder. The workout burned my legs in ways I have never felt before, but also I could feel it working my total body. I liked how arms were incorporated into the workout as well with weight bars. There are locker rooms, with customizable locks, a hydrating/snack station and a shower room! My first class was the happy-hour class on Friday night and I was shocked when I walked out and saw a bucket of alcoholic drinks...Now this is MY KINDA GYM!!! Like seriously amazing. They also offer brunch themed classes on Sunday. How fun! Great deals for students and first time members, I'm so excited to sign up and add this to my fitness regimen

    Amazing signage throughout!

I want to join but I am concerned about parking in Montclair which can be shady at best. Please let me know options. What is the parking situation like?

The gym has plenty of equipment. In my experience, there are rare moments when sharing of equipment or waiting for equipment happens. The price of the gym is really good, particularly if seeking an international gym (a gym with international locations). There is not an Anytime Fitness in every country. Yet, after being able to access one on vacation about Tokyo, I think if one has an international itinerary involving a/ location(s) near an Anytime Fitness, the membership price is really good (even considering each location may different in offerings). Plus, the ability to access the gym on one's own, especially with the hours, is really nice. Even so, I prefer the physical key card than the digital card via cellphone. Members get about a 10% discount at Smoothie Kings. There is a common-public locker area where about 54 of the lockers are smaller and bring your own lock (BYOL). There are about 20-ish larger mini-lockers (non-BYOL) [each does not always have a key]. There is a bathroom for individuals that may be seeking bars with a seat in the shower. The other shower bath room has no seat though bars. Two bathrooms do not have showers. Automatic sprayers (air fresheners) in the bathrooms tend to be overhead near the doors. As a person that really puts in improving good effort to care for my overall well-being, I prefer not having chemicals (in this instance, from air fresheners) in my vicinity. There are non-toxic space fresheners.

Wow, where to start! The Bar Method is my absolute favorite place in the world for workouts…read more I started my fitness journey five years ago, taking CrossFit classes that never seemed to fit to me nor show any physical improvement for myself, and I wasn't sure why. A year ago I found out I have a connective tissue disorder that makes it incredibly hard for my muscles to be able to engage the way other people's do. My doctor recommended I try low impact workouts and that's when I came across The Bar Method. Right from my first class I knew this was the place for me! Every single instructor I have had in the past year (Liz, Shelby, Liz, Kate, Sam, Mariana, Jenna) has been incredible, not only at correcting my form when I was just starting out, but also at offering modifications when an exercise might've been too much for me. As someone with an "invisible" disability, one that affects every single muscle and joint in my body, I never thought that I'd be able to work out without pain. The Bar Method, and every single one of its instructors, has showed me that movement isn't supposed to be painful. I do not have enough words to describe the impact this studio has made to my quality of life. Even on those days where my disability is too much, I never skip a class because I know that there are still ways to give it my all, with modifications and taking it slow. If you're thinking about trying The Bar Method, be ready to experience a life-changing workout in an amazing community.
