The image shows a large, empty fitness or dance studio with a high ceiling and decorative molding. The room has large arched windows allowing natural light, with mirrors covering one wall. Ballet barres are mounted along the mirrored wall, and exercise balls are stacked in the corner. The floor is covered with a neutral-colored carpet, and ceiling fans are installed for ventilation. The space appears well-maintained and suitable for dance, yoga, or fitness classes.

My first class here was really great. They were very welcoming, they had sweat towels available to you, a water station. They explained where everything was. Within the room itself they gave you a little pad to sit on, your ball was all set up for you, and they showed you where to get your weights. Everything was right where you needed it and everything that you needed throughout the session was brought to you otherwise. The course felt like a true Pilates class, and that it was very focused, and I felt like the stretches were all very appropriate and really stretched the muscles that we had just exercised. I didn't have this experience in other classes. The room was large, but light and relaxing. The instructor would walk around and make notes on your form if your form was incorrect, but would do so in a way that was appropriate. She knew everybody's name which was incredible. She didn't need a headset, the room was very calm and she was able to be heard. It was a really productive class and everyone was super helpful.

I absolutely love bar method. There is no better workout in my opinion. I use to go to west Caldwell studio but after it closed I was so sad. I found Montclair and am so happy because they have so many class options it makes it really convenient. They have a parking lot in back and it's always has spots, although I haven't been in winter. The changes you see in your body are almost immediate but I go at least 3 times a week for my best results. I highly recommend everyone any body shape try bar method. They have levels for everyone beginner or advanced.

This is now my favorite style of work out! My body craves the burn out and the stretch. Amazing instructors and super clean studio. Special shoutout to Sara who patiently helped me with my form on my very first day. Highly recommend! Parking can be a pain but I usually always find something.

I couldn't help but share as soon as I got home.

I don't often write gym/ fitness reviews but I can't help but to share my amazing experience at The Bar Method in Montclair. Luckily I scheduled a morning class so it was very easy to find street parking. I walk into the studio and see a chalk board welcoming me by name (a very welcoming touch that set the tone for how friendly, welcoming, and personable the entire environment is. I received a quick tour of the studio before class then got to work. The studio was clean, organized, and set up for the class to start. Everyone was warm and encouraging from the instructor to the other members. Not to mention it felt like the time just flew by. I'd definitely recommend Bar Method to anyone who wants a nice paced core workout that doesn't make you feel overwhelmed. I definitely plan on returning.

This location was the closest to me so I made an appointment with them. I didn't know much about Barre so I didn't know how intense it would be. They described it as "high intensity, low impact". So there is alot muscle fatigue and isolation but it doesn't cause pain to any joints. Definitely bring your water because it is quite the workout. Pros & cons about this specific location. Pros: -Clean location - right in the middle of restaurants and other businesses so if you want to grab a bite right after you have options all over the place. -The instructor (Colleen) was very kind and helped me with my form during class. She explained everything so perfectly. - they keep in contact with you via text/phone before your appointment so you know what to expect and remember your appointment. Cons: -finding parking was rough especially at the time I went which was 5:30 pm. I parked on a random side street and prayed I didn't get a ticket because I didn't want to park too far and have to walk all the way back. - you're required to have "sticky socks" which is basically just non-slip socks. I had the kind hospitals give you but not the fancy yoga ones. But I was told I couldn't use them and had to use theirs. & the way the front desk girl said no to the ones I brought was a little rude but I let it go since she seemed nice after the fact. But the cheapest was $18, Just for basic black socks with gel dots on the bottom. I'm sorry but I thought that was insane. - right after the class they talk to you about joining a membership and the packages. Which I guess it's expected, but I kinda felt like they harped on it a little too much. Plus the memberships are pricey. Overall I think it's a great experience to try. I'm not sure if this particular business is for me. If i were to come back, it would be because of the class instructor, not so much cause of anything else.

Honestly, this was a pretty disappointing experience. I started class past two weeks ago, and since…read morethen I've had the opportunity to try a couple different barre Pilates Studios, yoga studios, and a reformer Pilates studio. This has by far been the worst experience. First of all the class was scheduled to start at 9:30 and they tell you to arrive about 10 minutes early. The instructor showed up at 9:30 and there were about six women waiting outside. One of the women outside said that this instructor is always late, and another of her students joked when they saw her running to the door. When we came in, there was very little introduction for new people and there really wasn't any explanation provided about the facility or where things were. The Pilates class offered here is very aerobic. It's very high tempo, and very high energy, which has not been my experience at other Pilates classes, where the vibe overall is a little bit more calm and focused. It felt more like cycle bar at some point than it did like a Pilates class. She wore a headset microphone, but at times was completely unable to be understood over the volume of the music. She provided absolutely no feedback on anyone's form, despite the fact that there were three or four people who had never taken a class before, and we're clearly doing things incorrectly, not due to fatigue, but due to just lack of knowledge. She almost never positioned herself in a way that people can see what she was demonstrating, and it was clear that most people in the class were looking around to each other to try and figure out what was supposed to be being done. Overall, it was a very disorganized class and I would not come back here.

If I'm basing this review purely on the studio and instructor comparative to other studios I have been to, I have to say it still does not meet the 5 star standard. I've been to a couple of yoga studios and unfortunately this place was not the best or the most amazing studio I have been too. The place was clean and did provide equipment which was definitely a plus and the yoga instructor was very sweet and took her time which was nice but the instructor was mainly on her own mat whereas other places the instructor would walk around and make sure everyone is doing well and help out. There were also other nice free benefits in other studios such as a hot/cool rag that's given after class that's infused with nice aromas- whereas this place (maybe it was just the private event I took) but just did the class and you left. I would say this is your standard local yoga studio where if this is the closest studio it works out but I wouldn't want to drive specifically FOR this studio. Hope this review clarified that my previous review wasn't just based off of how I feel towards restorative yoga but towards the actual studio/experience as well

Fast forward another 13(ish) years (time sure flies by, huh?) and I was in need of a (new) studio to continue my practice so I signed up for a weekday "mixed yoga" class here at '108'. From the reception area to the studio itself... everything was so much nicer and warmer and inviting than from what I recall from the prior studio. The workers/instructors could not have been any sweeter or welcoming. And the class? After so much mileage on the mat I was pretty confident I'd be able to handle the hour but before you knew it the instructor had us attempting 'Bird of Paradise' pose and I was smitten. (To say it's a challenging pose would be an understatement.) A clean studio. Awesome staff. A class that's demanding and rewarding. (Not to mention class starts and ends on time - which was never the case at the last studio I used to go to a few towns over.) What more could you ask for? Consider me a fan.
