So I've never tried Barre before and I saw an ad on Instagram about Pure Barre having the first…read moreclass for free so I figured I try it. This location was the closest to me so I made an appointment with them. I didn't know much about Barre so I didn't know how intense it would be. They described it as "high intensity, low impact". So there is alot muscle fatigue and isolation but it doesn't cause pain to any joints. Definitely bring your water because it is quite the workout. Pros & cons about this specific location. Pros: -Clean location - right in the middle of restaurants and other businesses so if you want to grab a bite right after you have options all over the place. -The instructor (Colleen) was very kind and helped me with my form during class. She explained everything so perfectly. - they keep in contact with you via text/phone before your appointment so you know what to expect and remember your appointment. Cons: -finding parking was rough especially at the time I went which was 5:30 pm. I parked on a random side street and prayed I didn't get a ticket because I didn't want to park too far and have to walk all the way back. - you're required to have "sticky socks" which is basically just non-slip socks. I had the kind hospitals give you but not the fancy yoga ones. But I was told I couldn't use them and had to use theirs. & the way the front desk girl said no to the ones I brought was a little rude but I let it go since she seemed nice after the fact. But the cheapest was $18, Just for basic black socks with gel dots on the bottom. I'm sorry but I thought that was insane. - right after the class they talk to you about joining a membership and the packages. Which I guess it's expected, but I kinda felt like they harped on it a little too much. Plus the memberships are pricey. Overall I think it's a great experience to try. I'm not sure if this particular business is for me. If i were to come back, it would be because of the class instructor, not so much cause of anything else.

Honestly, this was a pretty disappointing experience. I started class past two weeks ago, and since…read morethen I've had the opportunity to try a couple different barre Pilates Studios, yoga studios, and a reformer Pilates studio. This has by far been the worst experience. First of all the class was scheduled to start at 9:30 and they tell you to arrive about 10 minutes early. The instructor showed up at 9:30 and there were about six women waiting outside. One of the women outside said that this instructor is always late, and another of her students joked when they saw her running to the door. When we came in, there was very little introduction for new people and there really wasn't any explanation provided about the facility or where things were. The Pilates class offered here is very aerobic. It's very high tempo, and very high energy, which has not been my experience at other Pilates classes, where the vibe overall is a little bit more calm and focused. It felt more like cycle bar at some point than it did like a Pilates class. She wore a headset microphone, but at times was completely unable to be understood over the volume of the music. She provided absolutely no feedback on anyone's form, despite the fact that there were three or four people who had never taken a class before, and we're clearly doing things incorrectly, not due to fatigue, but due to just lack of knowledge. She almost never positioned herself in a way that people can see what she was demonstrating, and it was clear that most people in the class were looking around to each other to try and figure out what was supposed to be being done. Overall, it was a very disorganized class and I would not come back here.

Wow, where to start! The Bar Method is my absolute favorite place in the world for workouts…read more I started my fitness journey five years ago, taking CrossFit classes that never seemed to fit to me nor show any physical improvement for myself, and I wasn't sure why. A year ago I found out I have a connective tissue disorder that makes it incredibly hard for my muscles to be able to engage the way other people's do. My doctor recommended I try low impact workouts and that's when I came across The Bar Method. Right from my first class I knew this was the place for me! Every single instructor I have had in the past year (Liz, Shelby, Liz, Kate, Sam, Mariana, Jenna) has been incredible, not only at correcting my form when I was just starting out, but also at offering modifications when an exercise might've been too much for me. As someone with an "invisible" disability, one that affects every single muscle and joint in my body, I never thought that I'd be able to work out without pain. The Bar Method, and every single one of its instructors, has showed me that movement isn't supposed to be painful. I do not have enough words to describe the impact this studio has made to my quality of life. Even on those days where my disability is too much, I never skip a class because I know that there are still ways to give it my all, with modifications and taking it slow. If you're thinking about trying The Bar Method, be ready to experience a life-changing workout in an amazing community.

From clients to the employees, you could just tell how nice everyone was. I was really nervous, but the employees all knew my name, remembered conversations I had over the phone, and it was just such a different experience. The instructor Tamara was amazing. So knowledgeable, no judgement at all and super encouraging. I love that she took her time with each person to correct their form and really make sure that you weren't going to hurt yourself. I ended up signing up for a 3 month membership because I felt so comfortable and I wanted to see if I could Really push myself these next 3 months. I'm looking forward to more classes! I was a…read morebit hesitant because I knew it was going to be expensive (at least more expensive than what I was used to where I used to live in Queens, NY) but it is SO worth it. I literally revolve my life around the classes at PB. I feel so incomplete without it! Each and every one in the instructors are amazing. When I met them for the first time, they really take the time out to learn your name and it makes you feel "seen" and comfortable. The whole atmosphere is so welcoming from when you walk into the studio and at the barre. They make sure that your form is correct so you don't injure yourself and even explain in class what moves focus on what muscle groups of your body! There are so many "Challenges" that you can sign up for and everyone cheers each other on! I love this PB family! Shout out to: Michelle, Tamara, Brannagh, Carly, Gioia.. just because it works out with my schedule, I've taken their classes the most! However, EVERY SINGLE ONE of the instructors are amazing!! And the owner, Beth, also teaches classes too! You won't regret coming here. I've told many friends and colleagues to join PB Denville.
