I tried pure barre with class pass and I was pretty impressed with the class. I didn't think I was going to break a sweat but yes I did. The instructor was great but the only reason why I am giving it 4 stars is because I wish the instructor corrected our poses. Will go again. read more

So I've never tried Barre before and I saw an ad on Instagram about Pure Barre having the first class for free so I figured I try it. This location was the closest to me so I made an appointment with them. I didn't know much about Barre so I didn't know how intense it would be. They described it as "high intensity, low impact". So there is alot muscle fatigue and isolation but it doesn't cause pain to any joints. Definitely bring your water because it is quite the workout. Pros & cons about this specific location. Pros: -Clean location - right in the middle of restaurants and other businesses so if you want to grab a bite right after you have options all over the place. -The instructor (Colleen) was very kind and helped me with my form during class. She explained everything so perfectly. - they keep in contact with you via text/phone before your appointment so you know what to expect and remember your appointment. Cons: -finding parking was rough especially at the time I went which was 5:30 pm. I parked on a random side street and prayed I didn't get a ticket because I didn't want to park too far and have to walk all the way back. - you're required to have "sticky socks" which is basically just non-slip socks. I had the kind hospitals give you but not the fancy yoga ones. But I was told I couldn't use them and had to use theirs. & the way the front desk girl said no to the ones I brought was a little rude but I let it go since she seemed nice after the fact. But the cheapest was $18, Just for basic black socks with gel dots on the bottom. I'm sorry but I thought that was insane. - right after the class they talk to you about joining a membership and the packages. Which I guess it's expected, but I kinda felt like they harped on it a little too much. Plus the memberships are pricey. Overall I think it's a great experience to try. I'm not sure if this particular business is for me. If i were to come back, it would be because of the class instructor, not so much cause of anything else. read more

Honestly, this was a pretty disappointing experience. I started class past two weeks ago, and since then I've had the opportunity to try a couple different barre Pilates Studios, yoga studios, and a reformer Pilates studio. This has by far been the worst experience. First of all the class was scheduled to start at 9:30 and they tell you to arrive about 10 minutes early. The instructor showed up at 9:30 and there were about six women waiting outside. One of the women outside said that this instructor is always late, and another of her students joked when they saw her running to the door. When we came in, there was very little introduction for new people and there really wasn't any explanation provided about the facility or where things were. The Pilates class offered here is very aerobic. It's very high tempo, and very high energy, which has not been my experience at other Pilates classes, where the vibe overall is a little bit more calm and focused. It felt more like cycle bar at some point than it did like a Pilates class. She wore a headset microphone, but at times was completely unable to be understood over the volume of the music. She provided absolutely no feedback on anyone's form, despite the fact that there were three or four people who had never taken a class before, and we're clearly doing things incorrectly, not due to fatigue, but due to just lack of knowledge. She almost never positioned herself in a way that people can see what she was demonstrating, and it was clear that most people in the class were looking around to each other to try and figure out what was supposed to be being done. Overall, it was a very disorganized class and I would not come back here. read more

Pure Barre is located right in the downtown Montclair. They don't have a parking lot, but there's plenty of street parking available. The place itself is rather small, so be sure to book your classes in advance. If you cancel short notice, you do get charged a $10 fee. Upon entering, you're required to take your shoes off and put on your sticky socks. If you don't bring your own, they have them for sale for about $16. I came here a few times to try it out and had very different experiences. The first class I went into was a whirlwind for me and I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. The instructor didn't take the time to correct the students postures/positions. Another class I went to was great and the teacher really pumped everyone up and made sure to help us individually, as needed, without interrupting the class. The instructor you get really makes a huge difference. The classes really get every part of your body so expect to be sore after the first few visits. It's a very fast paced class and they do offer an intro class but I'm not sure how often they run. read more

I came to this studio and took the free class and enjoyed it. I was interested in coming back for another class. I willingly paid $99 and was told you can come up to 8 or 10 times from 12/14-1/14. The instructor accommodated me as she saw my limitations which was very nice, I went back 2 more times and felt it difficult to keep up. I called and made them aware I wouldn't be coming back but was charged $99 for January, I never signed anything or was told they will automatically charge you. I emailed them to cancel once I saw the charge 1/14 and called with no return calls to me, they kept emailing me offers which I found disrespectful. I woke up this morning and checked my account to see they took another $99. I called again and will be emailing them as well. This is disgusting and no way to do business with people!!! If someone wants to cancel why would you keep charging them and avoiding returning their calls?? Do better read more

I was in for a trial class (almost). The girl at the front desk was extremely rude and condescending. She asked if I brought sticky socks with me. I said no. I was not aware I needed them. "Well then you're going to have to buy them". ($15) She insisted in a very snarky tone, "I told you this information in both a text and voice mail" I have no text and no voice mail from her. She insisted she did. I then showed her my phone. There was no text. No voicemail. She said in a very kurt tone, "well that's a text from a week ago". I reminded her I never got a new text telling me about brining socks. She said "well something must be wrong with the text". She then went on to insist that she was right and that she told me on the phone yesterday. She did not. It was an extremely short phone call. No mention was made of socks. She then accused me of getting the call "lost in translation". So I asked her if she was going to make this right, since I was already there. And she replied in a very sarcastic tone, "what do you mean"? I said, you never told me to bring specific socks. Now you are asking me to purchase socks which I already have at home. She told me to come back on a different day when I had the socks! What an inconvience! Why would I do that? I asked her if she was interested in my business and making this right by letting me use a pair of socks since I was already there and I was not told prior to coming that I needed special $15 socks. She told me to come back on another day. I left upset and I have no interest in coming back. What a terrible way to treat a potential customer. read more

My suggestion: go down the street to Core Fire instead for a better and more enjoyable workout. Got bad vibes as soon as I stepped foot in the door and then had to stand at the front desk while the lady finished arguing with someone on the phone about the cash register. Workout was hard to follow and frustrating. Felt lost the entire time and never received any help or guidance from the instructor. Also came in while in town because I couldn't get back to Houston during Harvey and instead of letting me rent socks they made me buy a pair. For $16 I thought these socks would be indestructible but they actually got a hole in the toe during class and I had to exchange them after. read more

Pure Barre Montclair - Barre Classes Near Me - Montclair, New Jersey

The teachers are motivating, the space is beautiful and the workout itself is both challenging and super fun! I'm totally new to fitness and admittedly a little lazy in that sense, but I felt like enough was enough and after losing 25 lbs thru diet alone, I decided to look into getting active. Pure Barre is super close to my house so I decided to give it a shot and I'm SO glad I did. I feel genuinely amazing after class, and that's not to say that I'm not sore and throughly had my ass kicked afterwards! This workout is majorly intense but the sense of accomplishment after is so worth it. I love this place and look forward to accomplishing my goals here. Everyone here is super warm and accommodating. I was a little hesitant at first to try it because I was worried that I would be uncomfortable as I'm not super fit (yet!). Totally not the case. One thing that really impressed me was how accommodating they were to a woman in class that was pregnant--it seemed like they gave her a ton of support and even printed out some modifications to the exercises she could do! They also have a great retail selection and I may have gotten too many socks because they're all so cute... read more

I've been taking classes regularly at this studio since March and I am obsessed. All of the instructors are very nice and helpful during classes and always welcome questions before and after class. It is a challenging workout but very effective. Love it! read more

I have only been doing pure barre for a few weeks, but I can already see changes in my body. It's hard work, your muscles burn while you're doing it, but your body feels so good afterwards (not too sore or too achy)! You can come back the next day and do it all again. Don't worry about how you look because there are people of all sizes and ages. I would recommend just giving it a try, you won't be disappointed read more

I've been going to this studio for over a year - the teachers are motivating, the studio is clean and the classes are challenging. Recommended to anyone looking for a welcoming workout community. read more

Agree with the other reviewer, beautiful space, could focus a bit more on proper form or people might get hurt. But over all great workout & would go again. read more

Has potential. The workout is good. The class times are great. With the exception of one, the teachers are solid and motivating. I am hooked! The one criticism though is that the teachers aren't as focused on proper form or giving clear verbal cues as you would see in other studios in town. The space is beautiful. However, the focus seems to be less on exercise and more on retail. There always seems to be some sales push - whether Isagenix or Rodan and Fields. I am all about supporting other women, but it can be overwhelming. read more

All I can say is I AM IN LOVE! I am heavily involved with fitness, but I have never experienced a workout like this one. Whether it is TRX, HIIT, kickboxing, spin and group fitness nothing compares to pure barre. I have taken a total of 8 classes and my body is quickly getting shredded and stronger. The space is beautiful, clean, in a great location and the staff is so caring. The instructors are very aware and hands on. They walk around the class adjusting your form and showing you what is the proper way to do it. They will encourage you to take the founders class, which helps you understand the positions, lingo and breathing. Wendy and Rennea are absolutely amazing instructors and the best decision I made was purchasing an unlimited membership. I cannot wait to see the results of my physical and mental health in 6 months from now!!! Check this studio out and I promise you it will not disappoint! read more

Challenging, but rewarding experience every time! Great instructors as well. Very warm and friendly!

The classes and staff at Pure Barre Montclair are top notch. Group classes here are challenging and adaptable enough for individuals of all experience levels. I like the fact that the classic style classes are non impact, which is an important part of my exercise requirements. The facility is kept very clean and you are treated more like a family member than a client. Well worth a try! read more

Obsessed with this studio! Has the best retail shop of any that I've been to, and each trainer I've taken a class with has been motivating and challenging! Most trainers are very hands on and will help correct your form even when you think you know what you're doing, so it's clear that they really pay attention to what's going on with their clients. Favorite place to break a sweat hands down! read more

This Pure Barre studio is new, pleasant and very clean. I have taken one class so far and will definitely be back for more. The work out was challenging, yet fun. I definitely felt the burn the next day and could see how doing barre a few times a week could do wonders towards sculpting the body. read more
