Huge shout out to Bird (and the front desk peeps) for the Sunday afternoon classes today!…read more I had one of the best OTF experiences today. I know it's not always possible to get individual pointers on form or alternate exercises if you're avoiding repeat injuries, so when it does happen it sure makes me extra grateful they took the time to offer suggestions and time to help. I also notice a huge difference in the coaches that are friendly and seem like they WANT to be there, and Bird was definitely personable and intentional and seemed excited/happy to BE THERE. I saw him checking in with so many people there today, not just me. Also the surge times written out on the whiteboard were sooooo helpful with the tread50 template today! Again, one of the best experiences here at OTF Brentwood and at OTF in general. I felt the same way when I had my first class with Fury here at OTF Brentwood. So wonderful! I always appreciate the energy and music and friendliness of Nick too! Thanks so much for making my visits here so great! Love love love

I don't need drama or to deal with someone's insecurities when I'm trying to workout. Also, I think one of the front desk girls need business and customer service training to understand how to treat paying customers. Customers pay salaries and can choose to take their money elsewhere at any moment.

I've been coming here for a month for their Bootcamp classes…read more This place is AWESOME. Don't get me wrong, the Bootcamp is HARD and it makes you sweat and hurt in places that you didn't know existed - but, it's worth it! The gym is split into the bootcamp area and crossfit. Everyone is really supportive and encouraging so that you can do your best. The bootcamp uses heart rate monitors so if your mind gets tired before your body, and you wuss out, you'll know why. I love using the heart rate monitors. It allows me to push myself more. The workouts are all different and never boring. The classes aren't that crowded; usually averages around 5-6 people per class so you get personalized attention and motivation. Everything is straightforward --- go sign up NOW!

This box has tons of space, all the equipment and setups you would ever want. More importantly though, they have good people there. The coaches and other athletes immediately make you feel welcome and comfortable. You can tell they have a great community built up there. James (owner/coach) helped me scale part of the WOD that day. He even stuck around after class to coach me on rope climbs, since we didn't have those at my regular Box. This is the perfect place to drop in. I'll definitely be back anytime I'm in town.

Meh. GFA isn't exactly what I expected in a gym. Maybe it works for some, but it's just not up to…read morepar in my book. I've had plenty of different gym memberships across town depending on where I lived at the time - but I won't be back to this one. Let's start with the good. Location is great, fees are not bad, small gym (which is fine). These are initial observations when I signed up. Now, we shimmy on over to the "not-so-good" part of the review. I got to GFA at 5:45 AM and popped into the restroom really quick. Very dirty restroom. Honestly... disgusting. So I simply deduce either a) no one cares to clean up after themselves here or b) no one is on staff during the night to make sure the customers needs are being met. I took pictures to share, but I'll spare you (you're welcome). Not a deal breaker, but not an amazing start. The first treadmill I jumped on didn't work (touch screen controls seemed to be completely dead). No big deal. The second didn't work either (same issue). The third treadmill took a lot of work to get going, but it finally worked. I noticed that there was a TON of dirt caked inside the treadmill air vents (I included a picture) which are pointed directly at your face while running. Also, not awesome. I ran with a wince for 45 minutes. Additional observations. Weight room is very small (don't love to workout in tight spaces - again, personal preference), there are no showers, and FOX news was blaring all morning. Unfortunately at this time, I cannot recommend GFA and will not be extending my membership. I hope your experience is better than mine should you choose them for your local gym.

It's no surprise that the owner of this amazing center is a psychiatric/mental health nurse…read morepractitioner, because this center is a community, not just a class. The global therapeutic effects of having fun, working out, and feeling like you're part of something bigger all at one time is priceless. Encouragement, support and overall positivity sets this center apart from any other "gym". Whether you're new to working out or already a pro, you'll get an amazing workout every single time. The owner, Ann Crim, is warm, supportive and genuinely loves what it means to be a part of the jazzy community - and it rubs off on everyone who walks through those studio doors. I recommend this center for anyone and everyone - and I promise you'll be treated like family.

Jazzercise Franklin is hidden away between Cool Springs and Murfreesboro Rd; turn in at the light and follow the road until it becomes a cul-de-sac, and it's in the shopping center in the back. This studio has a ton of trainers, and they are all high-energy! My scheduled trainer couldn't make it at the last minute, so the previous instructor got us warmed up, and the owner, Sunny, came in to take over as a pinch hitter. My favorite part about Jazzercise is the music. They use popular music that's fun to dance/move to. The class I attended was called Personal Touch, which I felt was a traditional Jazzercise class. We did use mats (you can bring your own or they are provided) and I definitely broke a sweat. It wasn't the most intense workout for me compared to like a Bootcamp, so I would like to come back for their Strength, Core, or Fusion (HIIT) classes to see if I like those better. The owner, Sunny, was really high-energy and charming. She even sent me a hand-written postcard after I joined the class for the first time. I will definitely return to the studio while I'm testing out ClassPass.

It isn't, but all barre studios are a little different, and I've come to really enjoy the classes at Neighborhood Barre! I've tried several of their classes - Barre HIIT is my favorite right now because I feel the effects of the workout for days! It's a good workout. The instructors are really great, helpful, nice. The music played is really fun and helps me focus on the workout. Some classes are more full than others, but it's not jam packed of people. They offer a trial two weeks for $29 - and I highly recommend you check that out if you're interested in barre or NB in particular. You can also sign up for drop in classes on the Mindbody app (which I love). There's ample parking in the area even if the area can be kind of a pain to drive around (I always regret not leaving 10 minutes before I think I should if the class I'm aiming to get to is between 4 and 6, because I will inevitably hit every red light on Franklin Road for the whole drive). All in all, it's a really good studio. The classes are all different, so check them out until you find the one you love!
