Needed a bunch of gear(elbow, knee, chest/back, gloves, helmet) and didn't want to wait for shipping. Individual named Mike helped me initially, but what was kind of weird was that he just stepped away completely after he bought out a helmet in the size I wanted but not the color. As I was trying it on, another employee approached me and started making small talk, like he stayed right next to me until I handed him the helmet after I tried it on, then left me alone. Straight up felt like he may have thought id take off with the helmet. I was really debating on giving them my business after that, but then a 3rd employee asks me if everything was okay and he was super nice. He went and got exactly what I wanted out the back. I decided since I was already there, I'll buy just the helmet there and get the gear online. I would say that they're pretty stacked up in terms of gear, but that little interaction with the one employee really caught me by surprise. Can't say Id come back. read more

Worst place to change your tires , bought two new tires from them , they destroyed my rim brand new , and for three days they were telling me they can take off the old tires, I knew something is going on When I went there they told me they mess up my rims , they were trying to tell me we gonna take it to a shop to paint it , no no , I need brand knew the way you got it , now to change tires for one day it's gonna take me more they a month Bunch of kids in the store, they can't use a screw driver , they playing with brand new BMW wheels read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR TIRES HERE TO GET MOUNTED. Please just take them to a real shop/dealership. Its only 15 bucks more to do it at an experienced establishment. I had to bring my wheels back twice for the same tire because they messed up the seating of the tire multiple times. For the same tire. When I first got the wheel back on the bike and watched it spin on the rear stand, it looked as unbalanced as the 1000lbs sisters on a carousel. Took it around the block and it felt like I was consistently riding over speed bumps. Tire was so deformed from that, when they tried again, it would not seat properly on the rim, yet they still sent it back home with me. More speed bumps. In the end, after 6+ hours of installing and removing the wheel, and a quarter tank of fuel from driving my car the 30 minutes back and forth 3 separate times, I just asked for them to order a new tire so I can take it to a real shop. My wife had ordered a helmet, from Cycle Gear, that has built in speaker pockets. I had reserved, on-line, a pair pf speakers to fit in the pockets. Not only was my order there at the counter, when I arrived to pick it up, but when I asked Neal if they would fit my wife's helmet, not only did he grab the same model helmet, but he also took the time to show me how to install them. Visited this place for the first time and I have to say it's a great store with good inventory. We were greeted by a gentleman by the name of Neal. Super helpful and passionate about riding and gear. Im a 65 year old Harley rider that despises technology..Writing this review tests my technology skills to their limit.. Imagine the patience needed by Salesman Jon to walk me through my Cardo Packtalk duo.. On the side of the box it shud read for kids 60 and younger.. He agreed if I bought the units they wud set them up and get me up to speed on how to use them.. It took two sessions but he patiently walked me through it until he was certain I could work the units "all by myself" Not once did I get the customary eye roll that my kids give me when i have trouble w the Tv remote! Im sure i stole some of his time from the other young bikers that happened to be in there, but Nicole stepped it up a few notches to help them so Jon could stay with me.. I was really going to be so upset because this was the third attempt at trying to find helmets LOL this is no joke. We were on a road trip. California to Chicago. When one microphone on our Sena died. We went to this Cycle Gear to see if they sold spare parts. They did not have them in stock to sell. But they had extra parts probably from demos and they let us sift there box of extra parts. We found what we were looking for. The management just gave it to us. No charge. WOW! All i can say is, this is a great group of people working there. All of them seem to care and tried to help. Genuinely couldn't have had a better time, my husband and I drove an hour from where we live just to go to this particular Cycle Gear and when I say the whole team there were THE best, it was almost closing time but they weren't pushy, they helped us with like almost perfectly suggestions that fit right off the bat (if not off by just a size due to the brand) and everything fit style vs personality wise too. I can honestly say my husband loves what he got and I love seeing him happy. Again guys there are hands down super helpful and awesome conversationalist. My wife and I went to the Schaumburg store with just the goal of buying her a pair of motorcycle overpants but we ended up getting a pair for myself too and a pair of motorcycle gloves for my wife. Neal is the perfect salesman - not pushy at all but very knowledgable, helpful and funny. I even learned new things from him. I generally don't like dealing with salespeople but Neal is amazing. Packed with gear almost to the point it's hard to move around inside, Cycle Gear boasts a great selection of moto gear ranging from what appears to be their private label to Shoei, AGV, Alpinestars, Dainese. They have motocross gear, sportbike gear, and cruiser gear as well. Besides accessories, they also have parts such as grips, chains, sprockets, fluids, and levers for many basic maintenance needs. Supported by a friendly staff eager to help and answer questions and the ability to order any item not in stock, this brick and mortar representation of their more familiar online presence makes this little store to pick up almost anything you may impulsively need. It is really great to see such a business open up in this area providing a convenient and affordable way for the motorcycling community to stock up on gear. Finding a place to buy accessories, gear and apparel in the area is near impossible. Unless you ride a Harley, which boast stores filled with items, all other dealers dedicate little if any space to non-bike items. Dainese is close by, but their prices are astronomical and for a dedicated store, they carry very little in terms of helmet (AGV) and apparel selections; both style and size. Anyway back to CC, the staff here is very friendly, but some are not very knowledgeable in products the store carries or provide adequate info on armor (ratings,etc). One guy kept mispronouncing Shoei when we discussed helmet choices. That said, they are still very open and friendly, which are traits very seldom seen post bike sale in any dealership in the area. For me this place is 3 stars on some issues and 5 on others, so I went with 4. Why not 5 stars? - Poor selection of non-Bilt items - Some non-Bilt items are made specifically for CC and not of the same quality as regular items (ie: Dainese jackets) - Why is every fkn Bilt item on perpetual sale? - My current Bilt jacket bought this season is already fraying in some places Why no 3 stars? - Service is very friendly - Can return CC web orders for refund in store - Opportunity to try on some items before purchase, unlike web stores. read more

Staff is very friendly - I bought a very Shoei helmet here and got so much knowledge from Neal and team that I was loathe to buy it elsewhere and the price was spot on! Lots of gear - not great if you are a full figured girl looking for pants or jackets - the BILT stuff is made for the size 8 and smaller. However, the men's stuff does fit larger sizes. They have some great sales - I picked up lots of things to add - like a charger to work off of my battery tender ($24.99) and a nice long tire gauge (on sale $12.99) and assorted bungies etc for an upcoming trip. If they don't have your size they will get it in for you - which is very nice so you don't have to play the return game with the online store. Try on room in the back. Great hours - if you are out riding around you can always find a way to stop in to get back on the road. read more

I would say this is probably the largest selection of motorcycle apparel in the northern suburbs, especially since the closing of Chicago Cycle however long ago. The reviews are true about the staff. They are great. Very nice and very helpful if you need them. I was trying to buy gloves and went through buying and returning 4 pairs without a gripe until I found the pair I liked (that means I bought them, took the tags off, rode, didn't like the gloves, went back and returned the gloves). The pricing seems reasonable. I did a price check at the store on the gloves I was trying on and they all seemed to be in line with what was listed online. But this is always good to check before buying anything. I did find out that they don't price match Amazon so be aware of that. The one downside is the excessive amount of BILT apparel they have. I don't like BILT too much and I don't know many riders who do. But that seems to be their leading choice of brand. They obviously have name brands but you'll have to cut your way through all the BILT stuff before you get there. I definitely wish they focused more on other brands. Non the less, the selection is great compared to anything else in the area. Overall a great store for selection, great staff, never too packed, clean, and well stocked. read more

Staff is friendly and helpful. Gear selection is so-so, mostly house brands like Bilt, Street & Steel, and Sedici. They do also carry some Dianese, Alpinestars, and Rev It. (Not sure what's in the dirt section, never wondered over there). For helmets they have Shoei, Arai, their Bilt house brand, and maybe a few others. Best prices on Shoei in the area. They have women's gear -- jackets, pants, gloves, shoes. And there's a fitting room! I do wish they carried more brands, however you can find a bit wider selection on the website, and they can also order whatever you want. I've bought a handful of things here and always had a pretty good experience. If you watch the monthly catalog for sales, you can get some decent deals. Place seems busier on weekends, as you might expect. read more
