Pros: Clean toys and play area, great selection of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), affordable price, friendly staff, tons of dog toys and treats for sale, private play sessions or group sessions available... Cons: None! This is an absolutely awesome establishment and I wish more cities offered this! We are looking forward to bringing our dog for several more "drinks"

Wow! What a great pet company. As a lifelong dog owner (60+ years) most often having a household of at least two pups at a time, I have to say that Cycle Dog's products are the most exciting, fun and cool items I have ever come across. Everything is incredibly well made. The designs/artwork are unique, fun and just pop. I love that the items are sustainable, made from recycled materials. As well, and importantly, customer service is extraordinary. I will purchase from the Cycle Dog in the future, support and strongly recommend this woman-owned company to all of my friends and family. Thank you Cycle Dog.

Whats not to like? Great indoor and outdoor play spaces, adult beverages, and friendly staff. Another option fof wearing out a puppy!

I bought an extra large bed for my dog, from Cycle Dog, a few weeks ago. What I liked about it was that you could wash it completely. I washed it as soon as I got it to test it. It leaked a stain through onto the bed, from product inside. I put it through a rinse cycle and the stain was gone. My dog did not like the bed, it was uncomfortable. The next day I requested a return and refund. They asked for pictures, and why I washed it. I explained I had Lupus and since COVID I wash everything. After back and forth emails, the owner refused to provide me with a shipping label, return or refund, saying the bed in used and cannot be sold... This was a beautiful bed, but the quality was poor, it fell flat after one wash- and very uncomfortable. Worst yet was the service, nothing but apathy and disinterest to help bring resolution to a customer. I'm out of 160$. Horrible experience!

    Best Collars I've Ever Purchased!!
    Mara S.

These collars are durable, stylish, and easy to clip on and off with the airplane seat buckles. Not to mention the super cool bottle openers attached, so if you're heading to the river or park, they're a must have!! I've purchased one of these for each of my dogs at this point, and the quality remains the same! I wish I had more dogs to put these collars on! Also, the smell that other fabric collars attract do not live here with these collars. The recycled bike tire tubing is used to strengthen and reduce bad odors from sticking to this product. 11/10 rating from me, my partner, and our 3 pups! :)

10/10 must visit for dog owners and/or dog lovers. They make their merchandise out of recycled bicycle tires, hence the name Cycle Dog. Their new location has a taproom with a solid rotating selection of local microbrews and they have a decent little indoor dog park where your pup can play while you drink. Great company, awesome location. Dogs and beer perfectly intertwined.

I probably couldn't be more in love with a company than I am with Cycle Dog. As a core product offering, they use bicycle tubes and make collars, leashes, bowls, and toys. Wow! As a dog lover and cyclist, my mind was blown when I walked into their warehouse and learned about the company! Additionally, all of the products are made right there in the warehouse! There's a wide selection of patterns and styles to choose from, and it seems they have expanded the number of patterns they have in stock. They advertise that they make custom items as well. They also have beds, toys, and their own line of small treats (for my 45 pound dog, they are the size of training treats). There are a few resident dogs who are happy to welcome you into the shop. There's a nice fenced in play area for shopping pups and owners to test some of the toys. The shop advertises organized play dates within the play area. I've interacted with several employees and all have been knowledgable and really helpful. I bought one of the traveling bowls and its held up for over a year, so I feel their products are very durable. I purchased a ball today and am excited to see how my dog likes it. I haven't been in the market for a new collar and leash set, but will certainly give theirs a try when it's time. They are advertised as durable and stink-free, so I'm hopeful! With the huge cycling tie in, they also sell a small selection of cycling gear (road and MTB). Come on Cycle Dog - I've got my fingers crossed for some kit shorts to come out soon too! Shopping at Cycle Dog is one dog the highlights of my visits to PDX!

This is all it says on the website about refunds
    Lynn M.

I am all for recycled items made locally and will try my best to support Portland businesses. I ordered a dog collar and later returned it. But they only offered me store credit even though I had a receipt. Also the store credit expires after a year which is pretty weak. I looked on the website and didn't see anything about not getting a refund. Another item I selected local pickup but they shipped it to me instead. The item got lost and they told me I have to go to the post office to figure it out. Made me feel like they think I was lying about not receiving the item.

It's not just a spot to leave your wheels-it's your gateway to paradise. The air hums with possibility, crisp river breeze carrying whispers of adventure. I swear, every visit feels like stepping into a painting where the Willamette and Columbia collide in a glorious, shimmering embrace. You're not just starting a walk; you're embarking on a love affair with the city's heartbeat. From here, Selwood's charm sets the stage-grassy lawns stretch lazily toward the water, perfect for a quick dog stretch or a stolen moment of calm before the loop begins. It's like the park winks at you, saying, Ready to fall for Portland all over again? Now, you hit the path toward the Steel Bridge, and holy wow, it's a sensory overload in the best way. The Columbia River stretches out, vast and majestic, like nature's own IMAX screen. Sunlight dances on the water, turning ripples into liquid gold while sailboats glide by like elegant swans showing off. Buildings tower on the horizon-sleek, historic, and everything in between-framing Portland's skyline like a postcard you didn't know you needed. People bustle past: joggers in neon, dog walkers with wagging sidekicks, and maybe a kid chasing dreams (or bubbles). It's grand, alive, and somehow intimate, like the city's letting you in on its secrets. I get chills just thinking about it-this loop isn't a hike; it's a front-row seat to Portland's soul. You'll catch fishermen casting lines, kayakers slicing through waves, and that one guy on a tandem bike who always looks thrilled (and slightly terrified). Halfway through, the dog park at Selwood steals the show-trust me, it's a riot. Pups of every shape zoom around like caffeinated rockets, yipping and wrestling in clouds of grass dust. Your own furry friend dives into the fray, tail wagging like a metronome on overdrive, and suddenly you're grinning at strangers who get it-these dogs don't care about your day; they just want zoomies! Kids laugh, owners sip coffee from overpriced but worth-it mugs, and the whole scene feels like a community hug. It's messy, joyful chaos that grounds you after the river's grandeur. This park isn't just a pitstop; it's where the loop's magic lingers, reminding you why you keep coming back. Pro tip: bring treats, and you'll be everyone's hero (especially the golden retrievers). By the time you circle back to Selwood, sweaty, happy, and probably craving tacos, you realize it's not just a walk-it's Portland's love letter to you. The Steel Bridge loop, starting from your favorite parking spot, isn't nice; it's life-affirming. Grand views, goofy dogs, and city swagger all wrapped in one two-mile hug. Do it at golden hour for sunset sorcery, or midday when the river sparkles like it's flirting. Either way, Selwood Riverfront Park is your launchpad to Portland's best-kept secret. We were not disappointed in the slightest! Most of the park is up on a hill which if I recall correctly is an extinct volcano. The reservoirs are very cool to look at and walk around at. We went to three of them and I believe that is the total number that aren't decommissioned but there once was five reservoirs here but two are decommissioned. The reservoirs were once used for drinking water but now serve primarily as a scenic and historic feature which it most certainly is! There is all kinds of paths you can walk around in and even minor hikes of a urban sort if you want to look at it that way as if you want you can walk uphill for quite a while. If you roam around the park you can see beautiful views of downtown Portland which is very enjoyable to see. I definitely recommend visiting this park and it has the appeal where it will attract tourists and locals alike as it is just that kind of a special place!

The moment you step onto the trails, you forget you're in a metropolis at all trees tower overhead like gentle giants, wind whispers through the branches, and everything smells like fresh air and freedom. On a busy day, this place absolutely fills up walkers, joggers, bikers, curious wanderers, and people who just came for the view but pretend they're "out exercising." The crowd doesn't ruin the vibe, though; it actually brings the park to life. Nature does the singing, and visitors add the harmony. The water reservoirs sit calmly along the hillside, shining like mirrors laid out to reflect the sky. They give the park this serene, cool presence as if the earth itself stopped to take a drink. And those little trails? They may not stretch for miles and miles, but they're perfect for exploring, stretching your legs, and clearing your head. Lush shaded areas, walking paths, benches for reflecting, tennis courts, free concerts in the summer, a playground, and for me, the icing on the cake, an outdoor pool. For years I did my 3 mile walk on the track or around the neighborhood and through the park. My friends would laugh because I followed the same routine daily, but I enjoyed watching the transformation through the seasons, getting excited when spring bulbs would break through the ground or watching the leaves turn after crisp fall nights. It's so beautiful and serene throughout the seasons, and since it was right across the street, there was no excuse to miss my daily walk. Every summer Grant Park participates in Portlands Free Concerts in the Park series, a wonderful evening for families, couples, singles or groups. Bring your chair or blanket, pack a picnic, and sit under the trees and enjoy the symphony or a movie. The people watching is just as much fun! The crowds are friendly and it's such a sense of community. When this series begins, I know it's summer! For the kids, there is a playground area with lots of room for running around, spots for picnics, and a fountain. Parking is available on NE 33rd or the side streets for those not in walking distance. For me, the best part of the entire park is the pool, which was updated in 2017 with a new filtration system. For the past 15+ years, I do an hour of Lap swimming every single day for the three months the pool is open. They offer lanes for adult swim in the very early morning, at noon, and again around 5:30. While it does get super crowded, and often there are 5 or more other swimmers in the lane swimming in a circular pattern, I still love it. Swimming outdoors with the sun and fresh air, hearing the laughter of the kids, makes my workout go so much faster. It's my happy place! Inevitably one encounters what I call "lap rage" a few times a season. Those previous jr. olympics swimmers who think they own the lane and everyone has to get out of their way, but most are polite, know how to make it work, and recognize that the pool is for all of us, swimmers and kickboarders at every level. There are chairs and chaise lounges for those that arrive early. The open swim starts at 1:15 and goes until 3:10, a very limited time. This is because swimming lessons take priority and since swimming is a life skill, I can get behind this. On the weekends, open swim goes until 4:30. The bathrooms and showers are ok, what you would expect with the volume of people using the facilities daily. I wear shoes and do my best to not really look. There is a snack bar that sells popcorn and a cart that sells ices out front. I've never been to either but I do see the kids enjoying these treats. Even though I moved out of the Grant Park neighborhood 18 months ago, I drove to Grant Pool every single day last year to enjoy a swim. The Portland Public Pools used to stay open until mid September with limited hours since kids are back in school after Labor Day. For swimmers, this was our favorite time. We had all 5 lanes and it was so peaceful. No noise other than the sound of the swimmers gliding through the water. Last year they closed the pools before the end of August, which was such a bummer, claiming budget cuts. Let's hope they find money to support these pools for the entire three months. After our rainy winters, we want to get as much out of our dry and sunny months as possible.

And I…read moreimagine there was a time it was a community favorite spot for family gatherings, first dates, "that" secret retreat where you could take a breath to reset your inner peace, a trusted romping ground for your fur kids. The park's magical energy gave reason enough to grab your umbrella, Wellingtons, a friend who is willing to dance in the rain (yes, I know I'm stretching this a bit, dream with me here). Sadly, a short visit to this once bubbly land will likely leave you to go back to your favorite park and never return. I get it. It's winter and with Portland winters comes wet, muddy, and now even neglected by the city workers who's jobs are subsidized by local and state income taxes paid by hard working people from our gorgeous city. I may be new to the city, but what I do know is it rains. And it's no secret that winter brings days upon days of cold, rainy days. I personally love it! And isn't it safe to assume that this seasonal shift is no secret for the OG city folk? I'm told to expect living under dark clouds with daily rain accumulation right through spring of 2026. Again, I am new here. But doesn't it make sense to perhaps to take another look into learning what the city's resident community experts thoughts are on what seasonal characteristics determined this unfortunate decision. So like me, for example. I'm from Phoenix, AZ. Where summer temps seer to 115°- 120° with minimal breaks for weeks upon weeks. And guess what? City parks don't close up shop. They still book events for picnic spaces and other popular hidden gems. The toilets are open, clean and the park workers are eager to answer any questions you bring. And so my issue isn't with the declining state of the park. It's the blatant inconsideration for people who get outside even on the rainiest days and nights I find to be adversarial. The city has turned the parks public water source (especially convenient for your pups), closed and locked the only two toilets available to relieve the most commonly shared human function. Locking these toilets is wrong on so many levels. Doing so doesn't save the city spending budget. It doesn't keep homeless people away from the park, and it doesn't keep the park clean. Yeah. That last part. Thank you for encouraging people to make an unfair decision. Anyone reading this knows, when you gotta go, You gotta go. There is no health benefit for someone to hold it. Even leaving the park to go home is too long. Instead of promoting cleanliness and personal responsibility, you are in fact forcing people to urinate at will, anywhere. And even worse? Yes. Not all poop can be held beyond it's naturally placed emergency exit. Your decision to restrict access makes no sense. But, let's be real. This isn't to keep the budget honest. It's also not to ensure less traffic in spots where there is solid traffic. It's certainly not to use the opportunity to upgrade the facilities. It's to satisfy the early morning city park "ranger" and his personal agenda to bully anyone who wears the effects from a life of despair shown everywhere on their being. He wants to make life harder for a life that you'd think can't get worse. He is so repulsed by their presence, taking away their safety, dignity, hope and a spot to rest quietly when absolutely nobody is there. And even should someone stroll through, they don't care. The homeless folks aren't why this park has lost it's joy, it's because the people who have the powers are making decisions based on ensuring they win. How proud you must feel when you stoop to pick up your park powers and literally spew your wrongly placed toxic energy. Please reopen one of the restrooms and turn the water source back on. These park amenities belong to all the people of the city of Portland. Make your choices based on that agenda. Not your rangers. Do better!
