This place is so kind. They were providing pet food to people in need during the pandemic. A casual pet food bank of sorts. I love seeing local small businesses providing for the community, even if it doesnt return an immediate profit. I was taking in an orphaned kitten. I lost my job and income during the pandemic, and 6 weeks later, I still havent heard from UI. I discovered that NoPo Paws was providing pet food for people in need (like me!). I told them of my situation and they were incredibly kind and gave me a big ole bag full of REALLY nice wet and dry food! It was even better seeing that the wet food is actually my adult cats favorite (she is on prescription food so she doesnt get it too often). I live in the neighborhood and come here from time to time. I will definitely be coming here more once I get back on my feet. Thanks you guys! read more

NoPo Paws - Pet Stores Near Me - Portland, Oregon

See all

This is my local stop for cat food! They have a massive dog selection, will say if I had one I would be going even wilder. But they have a humble cat selection with great brands, glad to say each can I've seen for cats is quality food! The type of cans I would spend for my baby's. The staff is very kind and I also love that when I came in and didn't see the food for my cat, they let me do special orders which is another great way of giving back to your community by supporting local shops who can do this! read more

Cute little shop. Very standard items for a local pet store so nothing new or exciting for me. I didn't feel as welcome and encouraged to ask questions as I do in other small pet stores. Great alternative to chain pet stores, however. read more

Still like the place. The person I thought was the owner isn't, I've met the owner and both of us find her knowledgable but highly opinionated, which could manifest as her telling you why you don't want/need something that you're looking for. That's a taste I haven't yet acquired. Other staff have been quite friendly and helpful. Smaller shop with a very good selection of foods, and they will special order food for you. The games and puzzles are a plus. Many of the toys and garments are US made eco friendly. Parking is a challenge due to the nearby bars and church. There is a 15 minute spot out front that has always been occupied in my experience by someone who clearly can't or won't read. Hours on weekdays are hard if you work 8-5, the one time I attempted to shop there at 10 am they hadn't opened by 10:20 (had to leave to get to work), and there is zero parking in the evening (bars, how could we live without them). read more

Lovely Neighbourhood pet store with quality trustworthy products for your family's furry ones.

There store policy is that no children under 12 are allowed in the store. This discriminates against single parents with young children. When I asked why I was told "they have poor impulse control." I wasn't asked if they could bring what I'm looking for up for me, as the web site states. We felt very unwelcome. 0 read more

Used to go here all the time but never again due to all the political messaging on the window. Politics and business don't mix.

This is an awesome local pet store! They have unique items and also competitive prices. I walked around looking at everything... makes me want to own a pet store, or own about five dogs so I can come here more often! The lady who helped me was extremely friendly and stayed calm under stress when there were a bunch of people in the store. She was great! Really great customer service. read more

Does not honor rewards program. prices always seem to be going up for the same brand of food. political messages on the building doesn't make me feel welcomed. read more

Best pet store with the friendliest of people. Very helpful. And great to support local.

I get my dog food there and occasionally some treats. Very nice store. Good prices. I can bring my puppy in and the lady is always really nice. My puppy likes it too because she gets a treat :). read more

The woman who owns/ works in the store is always very helpful when I stop in to buy cat food. My cat is older and she was able to give me some good recommendations about his changing needs as he ages. It's a very clean store and has a good selection of high quality food. They don't have a large selection, but what they do have to choose from is all very good and healthy for your pet. They also have a lot of unique dog and cat toys (more so for dogs) and a frequent buyer program. I would recommend this pet store to anyone who is looking to support a local business that is run by genuinely nice people. I'm so glad to have this neighborhood pet store close to home. read more

A friend suggested I try this pet store as my dog has a very specific food that most pet stores don't carry. Not only did she carry this brand, but she was extremely helpful with all of my other questions. We were able to talk about skin issues, coat problems, allergies, etc., and I really appreciated how she spoke with personal experience. An added bonus is she only carries eco-friendly projects, which is awesome. Hands down, this is my new pet store. :) read more

We're so lucky to have found such a perfect neighborhood pet store. We've been three times so far, and found each experience helpful and the staff highly knowledgeable. We had to switch foods since moving, and I was a bit worried about finding a food that the dogs liked as much as our previous locally made shop, but I am pleasantly surprised and happy with the new food we were suggested at NoPo. read more

This is my go-to pet food store. I'm so glad they carry cat food + treats now! Good selection of food, knowledgeable and friendly staff. It's so nice to have a great pet-store in the neighborhood. read more

Was in town with the family on vacation and needed to pick up some food for our dog. Our doodle recently stopped eating his regular wet food and was turning his nose up at any we tried. Sara the owner was super helpful and recommended a couple of different varieties. He loved the wet food and we are super grateful for the attention we got. The store's awesome. If we lived here we would definitely be back. read more

We LOVE NoPo Paws! Been going for years. The owner Sarah is wonderful and caring. We have a fear aggressive dog and some days can be hard and stressful. She always offers up helpful suggestions and is a great listener when we have bad days. Great selection of toys, treats and food - and great tips and tricks in her newsletter! We love this local pet store and can't recommend it enough. read more

Great place. I travel with my pets and recently brought them with the family on a cross country trip to visit a bunch of different friends. The owner and staff at NOPO Paws were wonderfully helpful. They had everything I needed for my cat and dog. Next time I'm in Portland I'll be buying my pet food at NOPO Paws FO SHO. read more

Sarah, the owner, has a been such a gem providing all the necessary pup supplies during the quarantine. Can't say enough nice things about this place! read more

Half of the Isles are inaccessible even more so if youre disabled. The lack of parking is horrid and dont even get me started on the owner. She gave my dog a treat without asking and i could tell by her voice she was judging me for buying lower quality dog food(even though its the highest quality i can afford). read more

This spot is a great business. They have tons of quality items and food for our pups. The owner is a doll and genuine. NoPo Paws is really active in the community here in North. A lot of the times that I stop in for pup food they are hosting adoption events and it makes for a nice energy and environment. They are part of the supportland program and food purchasing program too, which helps out with the buget. read more

This friendly helpful place is pup heaven! Lots of smells mixed with toys and treats make Nopo Paws a great place to get pup stuff. I was excited to find out that they donate some of their profits to animal rescue charities. The close location also makes this place a stop for many a pup walk. read more

This new shop really has it all going on. The place is adorable with a very welcoming energy to it. The selection of eco-friendly pet supplies is extensive with many items you won't see in other stores. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and is happy to provide explanations which make it easier to decide what you really want. She has a nice array of bulk treats. I also think the prices are very reasonable. read more

I try whenever possible to support local businesses, and I'm glad to have found NoPo Paws when I moved to North Portland. Sarah, the owner, was very helpful in making recommendations, and though I may pay a little more than at the chains, it's worth it to me to keep my money in my community. read more

This is a very cute shop with lots of great stuff for pups, and soon kitties as well. I went in and got treats for my pups, which made them very happy and new leashes, which made me very happy. The owner knows what she's doing and genuinely cares about our furry friends as well as all of our impact on the planet. I would highly recommend stopping in and checking it out. Oh, and you've got to meet the shop puppy, he is so super cute! read more

Sarah is so wonderful! NoPo paws is an incredible local business. I've been getting food for my pets here for about 3 years. Sarah is so helpful and friendly. She has helped my pets transition to a healthier and more natural diet. read more

NoPo Paws is the best local pet store around. They have super friendly knowledgeable staff that are always there to help. They also have a good selection of healthy food and treats for dogs and cats priced reasonably. I would definitely recommended NoPo paws! read more

Not the place to shop if you're queer or disabled. The parking situation is terrible, the aisles can be inaccessible, and the owner puts business before ethics in absolutely appalling manners. She will not respect your boundaries as a pet owner and will give your pet a treat without asking or notifying you of the ingredients. For someone so hard pressed to make you buy raw and overpriced food for your dogs, she seems rather contradictory in her actions. She will talk smack about customers as soon as they walk out the door and pressures employees into upselling while using gaslighting methods. Take your business anywhere else local except for NoPo Paws. read more

Sounds like this place is great if they sell what you're looking for. Unfortunately for me, they do not sell Castor & Pollux and the lady seemed offended that I asked if they did. She made some comment about the C&P price point for quality not meeting her standards and they don't sell what the big pet stores do. Pets on Broadway came through for me. read more

This place is great. They have everything you could possibly want -- high quality food, treats, toys, beds, supplements and more. And if they don't have it, the owner Sarah, will hunt it down and order it for you. Sarah has advised me through so many pet-related issues, giving me tons of free advice and recommendations that actually work. A good pet store is as important as having a good vet -- NoPo Paws has helped me keep my dog healthy and happy. read more

The owner was very hurtful and queer bates the NoPo community. She dresses and speaks to you as if she relates to your struggle and then manipulates you into buying expensive products. She was pushy and rude to me, my family, and didn't even ask if she could give my dog a treat. I'm appalled and I will never be returning to this shop. Pets on Broadway is much better. read more

This is our neighborhood dog shop. We always buy Taste of the Wild, and love the frequent buyer's program because we can mix and match the different flavors in the same food line. They always have a great selection of really quality products, from toys to dog hygiene products to treats and collars, they have you covered. read more

Sara and staff are very helpful and friendly. They carry everything you need and will order anything you're looking for. Hands down best pet shop for dogs! read more

NoPo Paws is the best - when I complained to the owner that I was driving all around town to get all the specific food/treats I needed for my cat and dog she offered to special order for me so that I could come to one place (amazing right!?)! Not only did she go above and beyond with this, she also helped me find a wet food appropriate for my senior cat by researching all the brands she carry's to see which one was the best for my situation. read more

We have been getting all of our dog food here for 2 years. I feel good about having a great local shop like this one in the neighborhood.
