I called in to got bikes and inquired on if they can fix e-bikes with electrical issues…read more I believe the guys name was James. He let me know that is is something he could fix and that he was familiar with the issue. I let him know that we've tested the battery and the issue was with the controller. He let me know that it would be $150 + parts. This guy had my bike for 3.5 weeks before I heard anything from him. When I did hear from him, he let me know that he did not have any luck when contacting the manufacturer on their website and that I needed to pick my bike up immediately or he'd be charging me $25 a day in Storrage fees. I let him know that I need more of a heads up to pick THE BIKE up before he begins charging me $25 a day and I inquired on what website he was attempting to contact for THE BIKE. Apparently this guy had been contacting the wrong website the entire time. I gave him the correct site to contact and he said he'd get back to me. I heard back from him a couple days later again with him, threatening Storrage fees if I didn't come pick it up. He was extremely rude, still charged me $150 for nothing, and charged me $50 because it took me two days to come get the bike. This guy is extremely rude and disrespectful and over charges for his own negligence.

I Like Bike Bought…read morea bike off some dude on OfferUp and ofc he swore it was in great shape and ready to roll. Well, obviously, used bike salesman are just as trustworthy as used car salesmen but I digress. Both tires had holes in them and wouldn't hold air, and that's just what we knew of, so I decided we needed to find a good reliable bike shop for these and future repairs, so we turned to Yelp to aid us in our quest. They responded right away with some quotes and just said to drop it off at any time. The fact that they're a short ten-minute drive from our place doesn't hurt, either. Dropped it off for two tube replacements and a basic tuneup, during the course of which they found a shifter was out of sorts and needed replacement. It took about three business days (they have a lot of work and it's a one man show) but the owner is very nice and keeps you up to date with the repair via text, including having you approve any new repairs, as well as the cost. As long as you don't need it tomorrow then I highly recommend "Got Bikes?" for all your bike repair needs.

As other reviews mentioned, it's a small shop, but that meant I could chat with the technician while he worked and he could offer me various options. He replaced the rear inner tube and added a liner and sealant, plus added sealant to the front tire (I would've had him add a liner to the front tire, too, but he only had one in the right size). I'd never had the bike serviced since I bought it online 6 months ago, so he checked and tightened various loose connections. He showed me some basic maintenance procedures like how to lubricate the chain (easy when you know how, but as a biking n00b, I appreciated the lesson). If I need work done in the future, I'll be a happy repeat customer.

They do have plenty of options in terms of parts. They also have some other accessories as well like phone cases. There were only two staff member. Because of the tighter space, it can be a bit difficult to see where the line to get help is and where people are just browsing. The staff here is not bad. They were really helpful to my friend who needed a piece removed off his bike. They were kind enough to give it a try even though it was going to be a tough piece to remove. They were able to do it and the staff was kind to not charge but we paid something for the help. Overall the place can feel a bit cluttered but they do a have a lot of bike options. The staff is kind but the layout does make it harder to know if you are in line or the person in front is just browsing.

My Segway MAX G3 had a flat tire on the rear wheel with the motor. So, I tried to replace it…read moremyself, but it was a pain in the ass, requiring an unfathomable amount of muscle and force. Then, I looked up on Google: "Electric Scooter Shops near me". The first result was "Electric Transportation Repair" located at 1181 N. 4th St, Ste. 10. I called the listed phone number, and made an appointment with them. The next day (Friday, April 17th), I went in with my rear wheel rim and a brand new SOLID tire (I had to buy a solid tire, because the "Tubeless Tires" cannot prevent even the tiniest punctures, especially a nail that is 2mm big), I asked them to install the solid tire onto the rim, that was all I wanted (I went ahead by removing the tubeless tire myself, with an insurmountable amount of brute force, I even had to use a torch and even a power saw to cut it off). I gave them $70 in cash up front. They had me fill out the documents (Name, Phone Number, E-Mail), and they told me to come back today (Monday, April 20th) to pick it up. Fast forward to today (Monday, April 20th), I went back, it was ready and done. I took it back home, re-installed the rim and wheel back on the Segway. I tested it out, it still showed the red "Tire Pressure Check" banner on the screen of my Segway MAX G3, but at this point, it is just a mild inconvenience, and just to not pay any attention to it anymore. I rode my scooter for a bit, it was a little slow to start, but that is because the battery was at 10%, and I forgot about that. But other than that, it runs smoothly. I am deeply excited that I get to ride my scooter again. I HIGHLY and STRONGLY Recommend this place if you want your scooter's tires replaced. The staff here were very welcoming and enduring to converse with. I'm glad that these small, mom-and-pop businesses are around in this day and age, at a time when owning cars is becoming a luxury rather than a necessity, as well as gas and diesel prices are expected to increase significantly over the next several months. I think it's best to purchase an electric scooter (or electric bike, either way), because its much easier to maintain service and repairability compared to a traditional, gas/diesel-powered car or truck. I cannot believe they have been around for 10 years now (since 2016). They have come a long way, repairing electric transportation machines, and even selling them at reasonable prices rather than paying markup at big, faceless corporations who only care about selling their products just for money, not even caring about the integrity or principles of the products they sell to us. I am so glad this business is around. Thank you very much, Electric Transportation Repair, you're the best! Keep up the amazing work!!

I don't mind going to a rundown, outdated, cramped and disorganized shop if the service is good…read more But the service is not good. We brought a bike in for a flat repair. The guy talked me into a innertube upgrade, and I fell for it. I drew the line, though, at having my bike horn fluid replaced. I was told I would be notified when it was complete. I wasn't. Instead, I called two days later, and simply asked if my repair was done and was put on hold for five minutes while he checked. So I hung up and called again, and the guy put me on hold again while he checked. I don't know if they have a secret giant warehouse in the back like the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark, but it was ridiculous. The third time I called, someone else answered and I couldn't understand a word he was saying. The fourth time I called, I begged him, "Don't put me on hold- just look at the bike and tell me if the tire is flat or not flat." Turns out the repair was ready. "Didn't someone call you?" No, nobody called me. I went to pick it up, and stared at the odd artifacts on the shelf (a random bike component, an old kid helmet, Honey Bunches of Oats) and gazed at the wiring through the hole in the ceiling, listening to someone cuss a worker out in the back while I waited in one of the three chairs, up against the other bikes in for repair. When they rolled it out, someone noted the chain was not on properly. So I waited until they fixed that. That way I could be there when nobody told me it was ready. By the way, it was returned without the valve stems. I had to go back and ask for them. Well, after less than two miles of riding, the bike tire went flat again. Even with the new upgraded innertube. I brought it back. So, I argued that the mechanic might not have checked the tubing, so that whatever created the hole was not removed. Or, that perhaps the tube was pinched upon installation. Or, a number of other things that seemed more likely than my innertube popped again after just three rides. So even though I no longer had confidence in their service, I brought it in hoping it was under warranty. Nope. Though they said they could offer a discount. They argued my tire was worn. The new, four month old tire. Hmm. I said no to the $80 tire offer. After two and a half days, I called to see if it was ready. It was. "Didn't someone call you?" No, nobody called me. But I think that should be the tagline on your business card. Electric Transport Repair. Didn't Someone Call You? So, I picked it up. I didn't get a breakdown receipt (my bad) so I don't know why the first repair (with the tube upgrade) was $80 and my discounted repair with normal tube was $60, but whatever. I'd rather pay double the price than return here.

No matter what I did, I just couldn't get it right. So I walked down first to check if they were open and explained my issue. The volunteers were super friendly and told me to bring my bike in since they had time to help. FAST & EXPERT SERVICE As soon as I carried my bike in, Chris got to work immediately. While he was fixing it up, another gentleman (I didn't catch his name!) struck up a conversation with me and shared some great bike trail recommendations after I told him about my not-so-great experience at Guadalupe Trail. He even handed me a map of the local bike trails which was super helpful! HELPFUL TIPS & COMMUNITY VIBES It took Chris less than 10 minutes to fix my bike, and afterward, he took the time to explain what went wrong and how to prevent it from happening again. Both he and the other volunteer gave me great maintenance tips so I could handle similar issues in the future. I also mentioned that my husband is looking for a bike and they let me know they have a solid selection of donated bikes available for purchase. Definitely bringing him back to check them out! VOLUNTEER-RUN & DONATION-BASED One of the best things about this clinic? It's completely volunteer-run and operates on donations! For the quick repair, expert advice, and overall amazing service, I only paid $10 - such a steal. I'm beyond grateful that a place like this exists in San Jose. TLDR Super knowledgeable, kind, and helpful volunteers who fixed my bike fast and gave me great biking tips. If you need bike repairs, maintenance advice, or even a secondhand bike, this place is a hidden gem. Support them if you can!
