In a best case scenario, the words that could be used to describe this business best are…read moreunprofessional and unethical. Unless you ARE looking for computer "repair" that is less than complete and at prices that exceeds the cost of a brand new computer then steer clear of this company. My experience with Digital Sanity: I am always interested in helping out smaller business owners rather than one of the bigger chains. So, when I met the owner through another mutual place of employment, I was more than happy to help out. A friend of mine had a computer that was acting up and the owner offered to come over and check it out. The outcome of that visit was that he discovered some problems and offered to "wipe clean" the hard drive. It was going to take awhile so he offered to look at a small laptop we had at no additional cost while he waited for the program to run on the original computer. However, when he sent the bill for this I was shocked to discover that he not only named me as the debtor but also had charged me for BOTH units- an unbelievable $280.00 for sitting around and talking to his wife while the program ran. This was billed as 2 hours of labor on each computer. I called and protested and was told that it was actually four hours of labor on one unit. Now, in trying to sort out the billing error, I agreed to send in the 2 hours of labor billed for the main computer and it was agreed that a new invoice would be sent out reflecting the owner of the computer. THE COMPUTER STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY A new invoice was received reflecting 4 hours of labor on one unit with my name still on it. I called the company and explained that I wasn't paying anything until they kept their promise of guaranteed work within 30 days and, after obviously being irritated that they would have to return to the home, the technician did return and stated that he "never wanted to be bothered with this again". So, after he assured that the computer was working, payment for the original two hours of work was rendered and I thought that would be that. So, imagine the frustration when I received another bill in the amount of $270.00! When I inquired about this, I was told that a new virus was found and it must be something I did so I had to pay for another service call. This, even though when the technician wiped the hard drive, he also wiped off every Microsoft office program and then did not reinstall it- oh, he could do it, but it would cost me. To make a long story short- I found out what was meant by the owner when he told me he "knows how to deal with people like" me. He sent my friend AND me to collections. It took me months to get it straightened out and prove it was not my debt and in the interim threatened to mess up my credit. In the end the computer never worked right and another was purchased for less than I was being billed. All I have to say is- if this is how the company behaves when it is someone they know- imagine how they treat people they don't.
