I unfortunately hired Claud Shaffer from Cw Shaffer DO NOT HIRE him. His work is substandard at best. He did not put any time or craftsmanship into his work . To add he was using my personal tools to complete his work. He would disappear at weeks at time leaving a mess behind him. He came up with every excuse in the book why he couldn't make it. He ruined my home and also stoll tools from garage. When confronted he laughed and returned them. I now have to pay a professional to fix his work. If I could give no stars I would and he walked away with another of my money that I will never get back. The work he did I fear for the safety of my family . Please people do your home work when hiring a contractor because Claud is a fraud. read more

I also unfortunately hired Claud Shaffer from C.W. Shaffer and was led on to believe that he had a full working crew. Claud also told me that he hires women and minorities and is non discriminator. The job was to install vinal siding, fascia, and soffits on a newly installed modular home. He gave me a good line and compared to other quotes from other contractors I thought it was a fair price to install these materials that came with my modular, including nails. He said he would supply the necessary equipment including pump jack scaffolding. When Claud and I agreed on the scope of work He showed up with his wife and mother-in-law holding a latter. After the fascia was installed there was buckling with the sheet metal and I was told because the roof wasn't square. Also, after a month to complete this task the vinal siding and fascia started to come undone in several places. The first time I called him he did put some of the fascia and siding back in place and said he would be back to make everything right than the excuses began: Next week I will be out Thursday I will be there by the end of the week. Been busy with the storm! We will be there at the end of the week In the hospital and am having allergic action with my hand Fascia is fixed I will be back there tomorrow afternoon Can't talk right now. Be there in the morning I'm trying to get there I'll be stopping by tomorrow morning. I'm stuck on another job I told you I'll be there Friday morning Be there Monday morning I'll swing by this weekend to take a look at it Lastly wife said Claud as COVID ! Claud never made an attempt to call me or come back to the site and now we had to call additional contractors to fix his handiwork! For your own sake do not hire Claud and please pay the additional cost to get a reliable contractor to right the job right the first time ! Based on my review and others that were taken for a ride. Claude only wants your money, does not know what he is doing, and neither do those who work for him. Please take this seriously. Claude screwed over us, and several of our neighbors with various jobs. He took our dream and turned it into a nightmare. His M.O. is that he will go get materials, and then hold it over your head that he has already ordered materials. He will gradually change what he says so his timeline gets stretched, then come less frequently, until you want to fire him. He is a liar who never takes responsibility for anything that goes wrong, and believe me, several things will go wrong. Claude will blame the Building Inspector, the architect, the manufacturer, his employees, and even you, but he will NEVER admit his own inability or faults. Communication drops off and becomes frustrating. He wants half up front, then another quarter 30 days later, and that's really all he wants. He has no intention of getting past the big payout. He will not produce the large materials he is supposed to be ordering (i.e. cabinets, ductless systems, tubs, etc.). Even when he says he will produce receipts, he will not. He already has monetary judgements against him, and does not care if you go after him since he has nothing in his name. He hides his real address, uses his business address for everything (some small, fake storefront), and will just try to string you along. Our roof was put on entirely wrong and dragged out for months so it heavily rained inside through a tarp he callously left, and even into our existing house, thus destroying our stuff. He messed up our foundation from day one (our planned slab was turned into a crawl space because he excavated the whole yard, not knowing what he was doing), which threw off all our plans, and left us hanging with our sill plate below grade and soaking up water as it rained throughout the months he left it like that. We had to have our whole backyard torn up, regraded and piped just to save any of it. Our roof and siding was never finished - he left them exposed and actually tried to extort us on the way out to put in the windows and backdoor! We had to change the window from an egress to a standard because he never ordered it and winter was coming. He eventually put them in, and then told us we owed him overtime of $1,800 for a day and a half because he had to change the window size. This took them less then half a day for all of this, it was not negotiated before hand, it saved him money (not us) and was only done in lieu of his shortcomings, then he had the nerve to turn around and tell us we owed him money. He used that as his final straw to say we upset him!?!? He claimed he went through what he was paid, and $20,000 more, but NEVER was able to produce one receipt. He broke our contract. DO NOT HIRE CW SHAFFER. We hired Claude Shaffer to install new showers in our home. He stated his work is guaranteed for a year, any issues they will come back and fix it for free. The work was "completed" May 16th. We have had issues with 1 of the bathrooms ever since. First, the hot water didn't work. He blamed the company that made the shower. Then the caulking was coming up after only a few days. He came back to fix the caulking and again within a few days, it was coming up. He then blamed the company that made the shower again, saying there is a gap in between the 2 pieces causing it to pull a part. Next the shower was leaking all around it. He came to cut a hole in our wall in the basement and said again it was a faulty piece (not the work of his crew) Whatever, just fix it at this point! Since May, he has continued to commit to coming here at least once a week to fix the caulking, patch up the hole, and shoot foam behind the "gap". (By the way he was the one that suggested the foam and has been talking about it for 3 weeks with my husband. My husband asked if he was coming to do the foam again and he said, "what foam?") He has continuously no call no showed on us. 1st time he was in the hospital, 2nd time he was just so busy. 3rd time his phone was shut off, 4th time he completely forgot but then made us wait another week for him to book a day to come to our home and complete it. IF he does show up he ALWAYS has to leave for a missing part or tool, then NEVER returns. Today he came and put trim around the bathroom wall. No foam, no caulking, no patching the hole downstairs. He left to get the foam HE WAS SUPPOSE TO COME WITH and never returned again. Over 3 months and he still has not fixed the work he committed to. And he was paid! We chose this company, because we like to give new companies/businesses a chance. His company obviously has no idea what they are doing, or these things wouldn't have happened. And there is a complete lack of respect to us as customers, especially ones that paid in full! His "office" is just stickers on a window like the business there allowed him to stick a decal on the window do look like he has an office. His "secretary" that trolls the Facebook sites to recommend them is his sister and or wife. Please do not fall for this company, you will spend over 3 months chasing him to do his job.
